1444487 tn?1284392849 I'm writing about my fiance. He had an inguinal hernia surgery (open), back in February. Here we are, 7 months later, and he's still in debilitating pain. He has a triangle of pain on the side he was operated on. It goes from his belly button to his left testicle, to his left hip. He normally was a truck driver, and did auto body work in his free time. He has literally been on the couch or in bed for 7 months.
Avatar m tn I have had 7 abdominal surgeries. Gastric bypass 2012, lap chole 2013, exploratory lap 2014, panniculectomy 2015, ventral hernia repair 2015, mesh removal from hernia repair with exp lap 2016, and recently open epigastric incisional hernia repair 2/21/2017. I am one month post op from recent surgery. Immediately upon opening my eyes from surgery I knew something was different. I had extreme pain, more pain then I've had with any surgery I've had.
Avatar f tn I had hernia surgery 3 weeks ago in my abdomen and now I am experiencing pain and swelling to the right of the incision. There is so much pressure there and the area is rock hard. I called my surgeons office and they said it might be a fluid build up and to try a heating pad. The heating pad worked to reduce the swelling and pressure for the next two days, but does not seem to be working anymore.

Avatar n tn I also get terrible shooting nerve type pain that goes from my navel over to my hip and shooting pain from the other incesions areas. Pain is always much worse after eating. On top of that my reflux is out of control, always nauseaded, and have terrible bloating and gas. Avatar n tn However, if you have symptoms of an umbilical hernia even without complications, you should consult your doctor for advice. In adults, most umbilical hernias do not correct themselves unless diagnosed at a very early stage and require minor surgery. Yoga is very useful in reducing the symptoms of hernia only in early stage. It relieves symptoms such as heaviness, fullness and pain.

Avatar n tn A gall bladder that is inflammed or infected and has not received adequate attention in time can develop complications such as fibrosis or adhesions to surrounding structures which make it difficult to free the structure during an emergency surgery. There will be associated complications with this and response to the surgery may not be optimal. A stent would be placed for effective drainage of the bile into the duodenum.
1166907 tn?1263101648 Hello and hope you are doing well. Unless there are complications it's unlikely that he may continue to have pain post surgery. The surgery is best performed as an elective surgery with all the adequate precautions, to prevent recurrence. The precautions he will have to take will be, to first rule out if a diabetic or not. If he is one, then his blood sugars must be brought to euglycaemic levels.

Avatar n tn If you have a persistent cough, that could also cause complications that manifest as pain and swelling in the scrotum, post-surgery. Try reducing physical activity and elevate your lower limbs and scrotum (by ensuring that the lower part of your body is resting on pillows or cushions while you are lying down) to see if the pain and swelling subside. If the pain increases or persists over the next 24-48 hours, please call your surgeon for further guidance.
5447645 tn?1368180755 Were you able to discuss the surgical procedure for the hernia and non-functional testes? It is important that you manage the hernia also to prevent any complications in the future. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn after my boyfriend had hernia surgery the Dr used mesh to cover the hole there is pinching and pulling on the left side where the hernia was, his surgery was July 29th, he still sleeps on the couch This discussion is related to Hernia complications.
Avatar f tn I've heard sometimes the hernia repair fails or causes groin pain so I'm not rushing to surgery.
1265027 tn?1284839951 From what I read, Sliding herinas typically cause no symptoms but can make acid reflux worse. I think this just maybe complications from your surgery. I have been told my GB needs to be taken out due to two small polyps but not sure if I want to since they are small and have no symptoms.
Avatar n tn t seem to get more noticeable when I cough or strain although I do notice it more when I stand. Does this sound like a hernia or should I be concerned with something more serious? Does pain from a hernia come and go? I am female, 43 years .Could stand to lose a few pounds and have had 4 children.
Avatar f tn Immediately after surgery I could feel a tightness and it looks sunken where my left ovary was removed. 2 weeks post op and I still in extreme pain even while taking tramadol and neproxan. Follow up with surgeon he said I was experiencing pain bc he did a stitch and loop too tight to prevent a hernia while recovering. He said he can't fix it that once the internal stitches dissolve I will hopefully be pain free.
Avatar f tn A family member has a new inguinal hernia. It's not super painful, but there's a bulge about the size of half an egg cut longways, which gets bigger when he coughs or anything, but then goes back down to egg-sized. It also gets sore when he does too much walking or gets constipated. He's only had this hernia 2-3 weeks. It hurt much more at first, and never been nearly as painful as when it first happened, but he has some pain a few times a day, but its not really bad.
