Avatar f tn Hi to everyone, I've been reading this message board for months now, but unable to post because my Apple computer won't let me, don't understand why and we've tried everything.so i'm in my adult community's clubhouse using their pc. Let me first say you are an amazing, compassionate group of ladies and I'm glad to be able to read the information you post to help each other. I'm stage 3C, BRCA 2 positive, OVCA which has metastasized to the lymph nodes.
Avatar n tn What if you have had hernia surgery already? Can you do situps then? I had hernia surgery Jan 23 2009 and now I have mesh around my whole abdomen.
Avatar m tn At times I still experience pain at the hernia site. They used mesh to repair the hernia. This mesh feels like a hard service, much harder than the left side in which I had an orchiectomy in 2000. Just recently in 2009 I came down with an abscess on top of the hernia scar. They thought that this could have been due to having a suprapubic catheter in. Even after the abscess was drained (basicaly cut open and left to drain) I still experience discomfort in that region from time to time.
Avatar n tn Was on Rapamune (5mg a day) prior to hernia surgery and then week before hernia surgery was put on Prograf (4mg a day) and taken off the Rapamune. I have been on Progaf since hernia surgery (8 weeks ago). Due to high billirubin reading of 28, I have been put on one Rapamune pill a day. I never had such a high reading prior to being put on Prograf, I'm going into hospital tomorrow for moderate rejection. Sine I'm on 4mg of Prograf and 1mg of Rapmune a day, could I be over medicated?
Avatar n tn would be be helpful or worsen a small yet painful recently developed umbilical hernia to strengthen and develop my abdominal muscles with exercises such as leg lifts and sit ups?
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?
Avatar f tn I had lap surgery on April11th. Had staples removed last week. I still have pain and swelling the size of a golfball on navel and below it. When I lie down,it goes down. No fever or redness present. Any ideas or anyone else have that too with this surgery? Thank you.
Avatar f tn The tumor board review of your case is a good idea, but likely the next step may be additional neck surgery followed by I-131.
Avatar m tn Several months ago I had surgery on my eyes. Prior to the surgery they gave me a blood test to check for items prior to the surgery. Do they screen for HIV in that test?
1666825 tn?1303252659 There is a manual manipulation of the hiatal hernia that may help to see if it is the hernia...at least b4 u consider surgery.....check around ur area for a chiropractor that specializes in this....but do have ur heart checked first to be sure there is nothing else going on, and that ur GI agrees.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with mild esophagitis caused by GERD. I was put on Aciphex. I was also diagnosed with hiatal hernia during endoscopy. I already knew I had one because an upper GI series 6 years ago detected it. Even so, the doctor who performed the endoscopy, sent me to get another more current upper GI series. The results came back “no obvious hiatal hernia”, even though the endoscopy showed one and the upper GI series from 6 years ago did too.
Avatar m tn I have to ask how bad is ur GERD u feel the need to have this surgery?I have a hiatal hernia and just wondered at what point people seek this option.
415684 tn?1257329318 My mother had a mesh put during her initial debulking surgery and not due to a hernia problem. She developed a nodule at the site from which they drained fluid to diagnose her OVC. She is now 4 months post op but still feels lot of stretch internally at the mesh site. Other than that she has had no problems. She was even able to take IP chemo with this mesh inside.
Avatar f tn ve developed a hiatel hernia since the surgery and my reflux is worse than before the surgery. I did not have a hiatel hernia before the tif procedure. He wants me to undergo the Nissen Fundoplication now. Has anyone else had issues like this after the TIF procedure? I'm only 23, I'm 5'7'' and I weigh 135 pounds so he told me before I was the ideal candidate for this procedure.
Avatar n tn i had hiatal hernia surgery 10 years ago, it worked great , and 1 year ago my symptoms returned hard, look for alkaline diets on google, give it a try for a week eating 70% alkaline foods and 30% acid, i was suffering for extreme acid reflux, i changed my diet and stop using 40 gram nexium , i am out of nexium now and feel better than ever, no bloating, no reflux and my throat feels like singing!!! i hope it works for you! god bless!
267288 tn?1256278177 We have a member here who understand more on this than most. Her name is Marpo1 and rarely appears on the board. Send a message to her - or Smilerdeb. Smilerdeb will contact her if you don't here anything and Marpo1 is wonderful, she will come on with some thoughts. Good Luck on this - It must be very scarey.
Avatar f tn I'm going to be taking a break from the board, at least until I find out if I'm going to need the hernia surgery repeated, what my latest CT and CA show, and what kind of chemo I'll be facing next. I'm just worn out and feeling depressed and I need to get away from all the cancer issues, relapses and sadness I keep reading about. It just makes me realize my situation even more. I'll also take a break from the notes and messages.
Avatar m tn Hi Mike, Firstly, does your wife suffer from severe headache or migraine? Did they give a specific measurement in the MRI report - as in "cerebellar tonsils extend/protrude [x] mm below the foramen magnum"? If so, then your wife probably has what's known as Arnold Chiari Malformation - you will need to confirm this with your wife's dr / neurologist though.
Avatar m tn Yes and Yes. I had inguinal hernia surgery which and mesh replacement which caused adhesions. I had several surgeries to remove them and mabe I should have given the first with a barrier more time but it been 15 months since my last surgery and now I can feel them come back. My surgeon said it is real easy flip or twist my colon because it is quite redundant. He suggested removing the redundant part may help. Anyway, cmy last surgery was with a Surgiwrap dissolvable mesh barrier.
Avatar m tn Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
1281151 tn?1272288608 And second I am in full agreement that Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the leader in the field of tubal reversal. Have you tried the message board on the site? There are many women (and spouses) that post there all of the time. The board is very active and and the members are very friendly. If you have questions the staff is always on the message board to help answer anything that the members cannot. I wish you the very best of luck in your journey.
1444053 tn?1365456815 I too looked into the Linx surgery and enquired but was told my hiatus hernia was too large and my grade 4 reflux was too severe. So back to the drawing board!
Avatar f tn t living. I have had CT, x ray, small bowel study, MRI, exploratory surgery, gall bladder removed, hernia repair, stricture repair and mutliple scopes - still in pain though! Has anyone else who has had this happened to them gotten any answers? I have just gone to a new dr who specializes in the intestine and I pray she can help - I am so frustrated and depressed - I just can't stand it.
Avatar n tn Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
Avatar f tn I just joined this forum today. I had my surgery 3/30/09 and the results from the pathology were that it was Stage 1. The surgeon didn't go into detail on the phone, so I don't know if it is 1B or 1C. But from researching on the internet, it seems it would be 1B since he said there was no spread - that it was contained. My earlier post was really just about being nervous about the chemo because he said I will need to have this.
