Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a seroma in August after having hernia surgery. I'm just now returning to work and I was wondering if heavy lifting will cause the seroma to swell and become sore again.
Avatar f tn So I had a inguinal hernia repair about 2weeks ago on my left side and everything has been going good I hope I’m just a really worried person on account that I try not to do much ...
Avatar f tn That sounds like the pressure of lifting has triggered an inguinal hernia. The hernia can actually go into your scrotum.
Avatar m tn It does indeed sound like a hernia. There might be a tear in the abdominal muscle and the intestines occasionally pop through. It hurts because the intestines get squeezed. It can be serious, as it can cause blockage of or permanent damage to the intestines. Definitely go see your doctor.
Avatar n tn I got operation on 11/30/2011 for multiple inguinal hernia. Bilateral scope surgery. I had this hernia for over 15 years. As of right now I feel tenderness and throbing in my left scrotum. "the same EXACT pain i had when I had my hernia" I was constipated for about 4 days. after 4 days I was ok using restroom. I have to use it now however I have pain in scrotum and scared to use any muscles cause it feels like something will bust out of my testicles if I try pushing. Please help.
Avatar m tn hellow iam nikil i had hernia surgery one year ago .can you tell me what excercises should not be done...
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
Avatar f tn (22 y.o male, 180lb) 2 1/2 weeks post op of my umbilical hernia surgery (small hernia, open repair, no sutures needed) I went to a friendly get together and drink about 7-8 beers throughout the night. I was simply standing and talking casually while drinking. Is there any possibility whatsoever that that amount of beer could stretch my stomach enough to the point of actually tearing the sutures?
Avatar n tn has your son seen a doctor to rule out a hernia? it should be very easy to tell from an external exam. exploratory laparoscopic surgery is not a good idea until other tests have been ruled out.
Avatar m tn Treatment involves reducing weight, avoiding constipation, avoiding strenuous work and lifting weight. Hernia is repaired by surgery. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn The best thing is to get yourself examined and rule out hernia; if there is a hernia then you have to plan an elective surgery. Take care!
Avatar m tn Hello all. I'm a 39 year old male, 6'0", about 160 lbs. About 6 days ago I had hernia repair surgery on the left side, with a mesh. All was going pretty well, minimal pain, no trouble walking around or anything. Yesterday I fear that I may have overdone it a bit, and since then I have this uncomfortable sensation in the hernia area that recurs about every 30 seconds, like clockwork.
248382 tn?1274938634 I have just been dx with an umbilical hernia. my platelets are 74.3. Not in pain w/hernia. What about hernia surgery while on treatment?
Avatar m tn I did not have surgery to repair a inguinal hernia. I had a hiatal hernia. I just didnt know if that could have anything to do with it. Thanks.
1166907 tn?1263101648 After surgery, he has to be precautious while bending down and lifting heavy weights. The aim of the surgery is wound strengthening, so that hernia does not occur again. If the gap is large, then a mesh may be used. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have an epigastric hernia so I have surgery and fix it right? Well, my surgery is scheduled for THIS FRIDAY (two days from today) and now I am reading all of the forums and all of the bad news from patients that are sorry they went through with the surgery. ARE THERE ANY GOOD AFTER SURGERY REPORTS OUT THERE? I don't know if I will make an already bad situation worse or if there is hope for me. Please help. Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Okay, I'm scared:( what exactly is a hernia, an extra piece of growth?
Avatar n tn I had quadruple hernia repair 2 weeks ago, umbilical, 2 inguinal and spieglian. I have also had a chronic cough. How do I know if I reinatured my umbilical hernia? I am feeling a hard knot and am not sure if it is scary tissue or hernia.
Avatar n tn I have a small umbilical hernia. There is no pain, but when run my hand across by stomach above my belly button, it sticks out. My doctor wants to "keep an eye on it" and check it again in 3 months. Can I continue with weight training, swimming, running, and bicycle riding? The doctor seemed extremely vague about what training I could continue. Is there anything I can do to keep from having surgery?
Avatar f tn I had a very large hiatal hernia - full stomach and tail of the pancreas in my chest cavity prior to the original surgery. My Toupee Fundoplication failed after 5 months.I had a total herniation with the full stomach returning to the chest cavity. The toupee was intact - I had severe chest pain, with an obstruction in the esophagus (a pill became trapped there). I had been doing a lot of lifting and moving related to my nursing job and the symptoms occurred after moving a patient.
Avatar n tn There are no doctors here, but I think you may have an inguinal hernia. A friend of mine had the same symptoms. He kept putting off a doctor visit due to plain embarrassment. That delay resulted in an emergency surgery to resect the dead bowel that had strangulated in the hernia. Don't do any heavy lifting and definitely go see your doctor!
Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me why doctors try so hard to avoid hiatal hernia surgery ? Specifically, if a person has done everything reasonable to minimize the effect, such as low body mass ( I was underweight before the hernia), revised diet, limited lifting, elevated head of bed, and of course proton pump inhibitors. I already know the usually surgical risks. I am ok with those. Thanks for any insight.
Avatar f tn Since my husbands hernia surgery a month ago, I have been doing heavy lifting causing my right shoulder and breast to ache.
Avatar n tn What if you have had hernia surgery already? Can you do situps then? I had hernia surgery Jan 23 2009 and now I have mesh around my whole abdomen.
Avatar f tn Hello, I used to have extreme pain in the left lower abdomen area (groin area), which was the result of a hernia. I had surgery in July and that took all the pain away. Unfortunately, about two weeks ago, the same exact pain came back. For the past few days, Ive had extreme sharp pain in the same area. I went to the surgeon who fixed my hernia, and she proclaimed that "there is no way the pain is from the hernia".
