Avatar f tn Right knee arthroplasty post-op quad musclesdeficit by Katy890, 19 minutes ago I have just had 2 total knee replacements 2 months apart. First knee recovery went fine. With second knee, I have 118 degrees of flexion and 12 degrees of extension. My problem is that I am having serious femoral nerve pain ever since my 2nd operation 3 weeks ago today. It radiates into greater trochanter area of right hip and down my leg -- sometimes going down into the mid-calf area.
Avatar n tn Thank you for commenting. It's about total knee replacement and having Barrett's. Barrett's is a serious condition of the Escophagus. I can't take pain meds. The Anesthesiologist said he'd talk to me the morning of surgery about pain meds. I can't find anything about having Barrett's and pain management after surgery. Total knee replacement is a bear. I'm not worried about Anesthesia, though it's going to make me nauseous.
611964 tn?1223767720 I ended up having surgery to have the hernia removed and have been fine until last year. Now I think it is coming back. Only the pain is a little bit different this time. My back is not hurting, but just from the knee down. But I still think it has to do with my back because all I have to do is lift something a little bit heavy, and the tingling/numbness in my heel comes back. Be careful with your back. Listen to what the Dr's say.

2085202 tn?1373199740 I have really been through it. This has been going on for a good while now. The Doc has found I have a fatty liver. There were cysts and lesions that disappeared which i'm grateful for. He is wanting to write this off as anxiety and muscle spasms. Here's the thing ;I am losing tons of weight. The pain happens at night and am waking up to the pain making this a hard pill to swallow as just anxiety. I have been near tears with how persistent this has become.
Avatar n tn ve been having severe left hip/ilec crest/groin/down to left knee pain off and on daily every day and sometimes in the left lower abdomen where it originally hurt where the abcess was in the colon....could there be a connection with the abcess/diverticulitis and this left hip/groin/knee pain.....if so, what and why???? please any and all assistance is greatly appreciated....thanks P.S.
Avatar m tn I initially noticed what appeared to be a bulge in the area of a femoral hernia. The surgeon determined that there was no hernia, but noticed an enlarged lymph node on ultrasound and noted that there may be some swelling or fatty deposit around it. The doctors weren't initially concerned about the enlarged lymph node, explaining that it may have just been a lingering effect from a suspected tick-borne illness I had a year earlier that caused multiple nodes to swell much larger.
Avatar f tn for sure its not hernia...hiatal hernia produce heart burn and pain in stomache not right lower abdomen....other types of hernia are visible at examination..they dont need ct scan for diagnosis. in your case it can be something blocking the ileocecal valve as its a narrow passage connectng small gut with large one. it can be gall stone, worm, hard piece of feces called fecolith or a growth.
Avatar f tn I went to the hospital yesterday for stomach pain which I believe to be a hernia because I had the pain right after I had my son. Its a pinching pain next to my belly button and it will hurt for a couple of hours and then it will be gone for a month or ago. Anyway I went to get it checked out and the doc said he couldn't do anything about it because rays would be involved and it could hurt the baby.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar m tn Within an hour after my auto accident I was diagnosed by CT that I had a hernia in my upper stomach where my surgery (cabg) was 5 months prior. No pain or bulge prior to accident. Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.
Avatar n tn So the heart doctor thinks that the chest pain is caused from the hital hernia and the acid reflux and thinks that having the chest pain as bad as I have it that surgery is needed for the hernia. I need some advice on this can anyone help me.
Avatar n tn I got operation on 11/30/2011 for multiple inguinal hernia. Bilateral scope surgery. I had this hernia for over 15 years. As of right now I feel tenderness and throbing in my left scrotum. "the same EXACT pain i had when I had my hernia" I was constipated for about 4 days. after 4 days I was ok using restroom. I have to use it now however I have pain in scrotum and scared to use any muscles cause it feels like something will bust out of my testicles if I try pushing. Please help.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
Avatar n tn Treatment is a fairly small operation (nerve release) in the area where an inguinal hernia would be. I asked him if he would have the surgery if it were him and he told me that he did have the problem and that he wouldn't have the surgery. Hope I'm not steering you in the wrong direction.
Avatar n tn Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
Avatar m tn I just went back the other day for my follow up because my knee pain has gotten worse and he thinks i have damaged cartilage in my knee and if i do he said i need surgery. So if i do have to have surgery how long is the recovery and will i have to wear knee braces if i play these sports from now on?
1166907 tn?1263101648 I have had hernia surgery back in 2006 And been in chronic pain I found a link on YouTube that might have some hope for me and hopefully you guys to i have not had the surgery http://youtu.be/Y7jEhwJL_VY http://youtu.
Avatar f tn Hi katie761, I know that you are very concerned about this surgery but I'm "keeping my fingers crossed" that this will be the last surgery that you will need on your knee and you will be able to get the relief that you so desperately deserve!! You never cease to amaze me with your courage in handling all of these medical obstacles that you have been faced with. Just hang in there and keep your chin up. I will be here for you and so will everyone else on here.
Avatar f tn Hello, I used to have extreme pain in the left lower abdomen area (groin area), which was the result of a hernia. I had surgery in July and that took all the pain away. Unfortunately, about two weeks ago, the same exact pain came back. For the past few days, Ive had extreme sharp pain in the same area. I went to the surgeon who fixed my hernia, and she proclaimed that "there is no way the pain is from the hernia".
Avatar n tn i had total knee surgery 2 months ago,i am still having pain,my knee is still swollen and i can not sleep at night is this normal, when will i start to feel better,i am still on pain med,but only twice a day.
Avatar f tn I feel ur pain, I haven't walked in two mos since surgery. Hope it's just heeling process and not any complications. No answers yet for my questions, good luck.
Avatar f tn It might be an inguinal hernia, with referred pain into your groin and scrotum. Seems unlikely to be an infection if your testicle has been removed? A lump could be a cyst? Perhaps an ultrasound could verify what the lump is?
Avatar f tn I have knee pain and swelling that comes and goes. I have been to an Orthopedic and have had x-rays and MRI. Nothing specific was noted in the x-ray and scan. The Dr suggested orthoscopic surgery to see what he might be able to do. I have not had the surgery. He also suggested I may have osteoarthritis. The pain will come with walking, sometimes very quickly and sometimes not much at all.
Avatar f tn My first knee replacement was in 2002. Second one was in 2003 (on the other knee). For a number of years now I have had pain in my "knees". Even the tissue surrounding them. I've noticed that I can hear the prosthesis move when I move my leg. I swing my legs and they make a funny noise. Today I went to an orthopaedic surgeon about another (unrelated) problem and asked him about the pain in my knees.
Avatar m tn ve had a hydrocele surgery at the age of six, left side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 10, and a right side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 24. My right testicle have been attached closer to my body since my hydrocele surgery and I can clearly remember how uncomfortable it felt to have such an abnormal position of your testicle. After 20 years, I still feel some discomforting pains (on my right testicle) when exercising.
