Avatar f tn i have had chronic pain in my lower right abdomen for almost 8 years. what started out as a simple inguinal hernia repair has been a nightmare. the doc put the mesh patch in for "good measure". the adhesions are massive. from many doctors i have been diagnosed as having probably 3 nerve paths trapped in the adhesions. The inguinal, hypogastric and genital femerol nerves are all involved. After years and years of procedures I have not had any pain relief that lasted more than a day.
438877 tn?1224357489 i had an open choly and 12 months later notice a lump at the incision site (6 inch) at the time it was a lump the size of 1/2 a small tangerine - but in the 11 months it took me to get surgical intervention (uk nhs waiting list) it had grown to the size of 1/2 a melon and was very uncomfortable - a large portion of intestine was through the muscle but was not entraped as the hole was so large - i went to the dr as it was not scar tissue (if i laid down on my back- the lump initially went, but i
Avatar n tn Men are much more likely to develop an inguinal hernia than women because of a potential weakness in the abdominal wall at the groin. If a lump in the scrotum is an inguinal hernia, the impulse from a cough may be felt in the scrotum. " "A soft lump in the scrotum, especially if you can get your fingers between it and the testicle, is most likely to be a hydrocele. This is a collection of sterile fluid in the cord attached to the testicle, which is invariably harmless.
Avatar m tn You are right about the tonsillar descent being another term for ACM. Basically its the hind brain hernia where the hind brain protrudes out of the skull along with the spinal cord. Unfortunately there is very little research into the condition, but it can be hereditary. I dont know if you have looked or are aware, but there is a UK trust called the Ann Conroy Trust, and they are trying to bring awareness to the neurologists and doctors. http://theannconroytrust.org.
Avatar f tn Yes, I think a hernia can go into the scrotum. Hernia pain can also come and go. https://www.urologyhealth.
Avatar n tn So heres my question, we know that the tumor is aggressive, she still has it and no surgery if offered, no chemo is offered, once the remnants of the chemo has worn off whats to stop the tumor from taking over in the 3 months while she waiting for the next appointmenet and being twice as bad as before. Isnt 3 months a long time to wait between visits with this type of cancer and severity of the disease. I feel like they are washing there hands of her.
1213655 tn?1302149185 We saw her Gyn this past week, who feels talking this over with her Oncologist this week is the way to go. If, at this point in time, the recommendation is to stop Chemo, then she should not put her body through yet another surgery, according to her Gyn. If things look good, the chemo is working, and they feel she may have more time, than originally thought, then she could go for a consult with a General Surgeon to get his opinion.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. The common causes for testicular pain are injury, infection and torsion. Injury can cause a tear of the testicular layers or it can cause a hematoma (blood collection). Infection can affect and cause epididymitis or orchitis resulting in pain. Testicular torsion is an emergency as the blood supply may be compromised and needs to be relieved. Sometimes a tumor of the testis can cause pain. Consult your primary care physician for therapy.

Avatar f tn My Gynecologist thinks I have a hernia. I have a CT scheduled for Friday and a follow up on Tuesday to discuss results and the plan. It's looking like, either way, I'm having another surgery. If it's not a hernia and nothing else alarming shows up, they will assume it's scar tissue and likely to a laparscopy to look for and break up scar tissue/adhesions. Anyone out there have a hernia after surgery?
Avatar m tn I can't say for everyone, but my aunt and ex girlfriend both had this surgery. They both did really well with no complications. My aunt is overweight as well but my ex was not. So it really depends on the person. I would say for a hernia it's never a bad idea to have them fixed in most cases. I have had a couple althought they were not in the same area as yours I had them repaired and did fine. Another thing depends on the surgeon.

Avatar m tn The usual rules for plavix in the UK is 12 months. Europe seems to follow the belief that there is no evidence to suggest benefits after 12 months.
Avatar m tn The CABG area should be located in the area of your sternum. In my opinion, this hernia has nothing to do with the surgery or your car accident.
Avatar n tn I still may need surgery for the umbilical hernia, but the diastasis/separation is no more.
433485 tn?1321813390 I never had a surgery in my life until 4 years ago. The hernia, the surgeon said, was from my colon operation as the other surgeon went through the belly button ( hand assisted laproscopy), which caused adhesions and the hernia. I guess all the trauma from my first surgery caused this episode, but I have never been diagnosed as BP2, just depression and GAD. I seem to be better after I got back on my med schedule. I still will have back days and then good days.
Avatar n tn Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
Avatar f tn It is controversial the surgery. My age would preclude a little. In the UK they have a procedure which is better than anywhere. They wouldn't make more holes. The point is the hole causes a clot to release and go to the brain and cause stroke. They usualyy fill it. However I have 4 neurologist who say different things.
Avatar n tn Hi There, I'm 24,my left testicle seems to hang loosely (much lower than the right side) and feels as if there is no muscular attachment. When I tense the muscles in that area, the right testicle rises, but the left side does not respond. It has been this way for almost 5 years. I've never had an injury or surgery in that area.
Avatar m tn Is it possible that the hernia caused damaged to the spermatic cord, that resulted in a variocele, or something else? Some help/advice could really give me a peace of mind.
Avatar n tn THESE ARE MY SYMPTOMS, CHEST PAINS, CANT LAY FLAT, I SLEEP WITH ABOUT 4 PILLOWS, I JUMP UP IN THE MIDDLE O THE NIGHT TO THROW UP WITH BURNING IN THE THROAT, EARS ETC...I SPIT MUCUS UP FOR HOURS AFTER THROWING UP AND BURNING...NON OF MY FOOD FEELS AS IF IT DIGEST....IT FEELS AS IF IT SITS IN MY CHEST, AS WELL WHEN I DRINK WATER IT FEELS NOT TO GO DOWN....I AM MISERABLE...AS WELL I HAVE TAKEN MANY TEST....ALL RESULT IN GERDS..
Avatar n tn I have an umbilical hernia, which is where the muscles tore loose in the middle of my tummy and the bowel pushed out in that opening a little bit. It just made a lump where my belly button is, very unattractive, but the pain went away after the muscles healed up, and I have no digestive problems from that hernia, even tho the bulge is still there.
Avatar n tn I had a hernia operation years back it's not bad. The hernia was painful not the surgery.
Avatar m tn I had laparoscopic surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. After 4 months, the hernia returned, and so I had a second repair surgery by incision. Now, 10 months after the second operation, I'm having some odd "tearing" pains and tenderness under the incision site, and down toward my groin. I'm trying to understand the geometry of the two repairs.
Avatar n tn If factors like straining activities, constipation etc persist, then they enlarge faster. Surgery is the treatment opted for when the size is large and hernia is symptomatic. Having said that, I would also say that the earlier it is repaired, the better it is. There are belts available for umbilical and paraumbilical hernias which you can wear to minimize pressure on the hernia. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Has anyone gotten the bubbly gurgling feeling in their stomach after eating or drinking anything? I'm wondering what is causing this. I already have plans to have my gb removed due to stones, but I am asking because the surgeon and other docs feel there is something more going on, as my labs and symptoms/location of pain seem to indicate. Pancreas is likely involved and I do have a hiatal hernia. White blood cells & pancreatic enzymes are elevated.
