Avatar m tn When they scanned her brain just over a year ago they noticed tonsillar descent but had no advice about what to do other than that in severe cases surgery is the best option. More recently she had a repeat scan and they told her it had not become worse over the 12 month between scans which I suppose is good news. But her GP has failed to find a subject-matter-expert so far. The GP himself knows nothing about TOnsillar Descent, other than what he's read since meeting my mother.
Avatar n tn If there are symptoms of an umbilical hernia even without complications, you should consult your doctor for advice. In adults, most umbilical hernias do not correct themselves unless diagnosed at a very early stage, and they must be treated with minor surgery. Do keep us posted on your progress and follow up.
Avatar f tn How old is the child and has the hernia increased in size.? Has the pediatrician of the child suggested surgery to you .?.
Avatar f tn This is usually associated with a hypoplastic lung so most patients present early in life rather than later. However, a subset of adults may present with a smaller congenital hernia that was undetected during childhood. The herniation may have been minimal for your son, hence it may not have been detected earlier. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn So, you can leave the hernia. Perhaps it will get worse or perhaps it will stay the same. Hernias in adults rarely close. Or you can get surgery, it is an outpatient surgery and common. But surgery is surgery and can have deletrious side affects. If your doctor is giving you an "oh well" attitude it is becuase either option will work but both have their draw backs. Good luck with your decision. I personally am going to the surgeons to have a consult.
Avatar m tn Hello, Any undescended testes in adults has to be treated surgically because otherwise fertility is effected and moreover there are more complications related to it. Surgery is not advocated in old adults( more than 32 years). So you can consult a urologist and get it evaluated. Surgery is the only option for this. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Yes, I think a hernia can go into the scrotum. Hernia pain can also come and go. https://www.urologyhealth.
Avatar f tn Pet-ct showed metastatic disease to right neck lymphnodes, irregular tissue in thymic bed that is atypical in size and configuration, 2 perifussal nodules in lingula, increased metabolic activity corresponding to the prominence of the lingual tonsillar tissue with effacement of both vallecula. Also, a left bochdalek hernia was found. Can you p[lease explain what all this means?
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. The common causes for testicular pain are injury, infection and torsion. Injury can cause a tear of the testicular layers or it can cause a hematoma (blood collection). Infection can affect and cause epididymitis or orchitis resulting in pain. Testicular torsion is an emergency as the blood supply may be compromised and needs to be relieved. Sometimes a tumor of the testis can cause pain. Consult your primary care physician for therapy.
Avatar f tn My Gynecologist thinks I have a hernia. I have a CT scheduled for Friday and a follow up on Tuesday to discuss results and the plan. It's looking like, either way, I'm having another surgery. If it's not a hernia and nothing else alarming shows up, they will assume it's scar tissue and likely to a laparscopy to look for and break up scar tissue/adhesions. Anyone out there have a hernia after surgery?
1116556 tn?1345115906 You must explore other causes of your symptoms as femoral torsion is not so common in adults and yes, usually needs surgery followed by extensive physiotherapy. Sharp groin and hip pain with limited and painful internal rotation of the thigh along with tingling can be due to several causes such as: osteoarthritis, tendonitis, muscle pull and strain, femoral neck stress fractures, sports hernia or hidden/occult hernia of oblique aponeurosis, or Obturator or ilioinguinal nerve entrapment.
Avatar m tn The CABG area should be located in the area of your sternum. In my opinion, this hernia has nothing to do with the surgery or your car accident.
Avatar n tn ve been told their is little point in having surgery again yet - as Im still carrying my child a lot. What exercises can I do to help maybe close the gap? I am fairly active and have recently started a bit of yoga again, but Im conscious of maybe doing more harm than good.
Avatar f tn I also have a hiatus hernia. Do these two things go hand in hand? I have had both for about 10 years. Is it likely that I'll have to live with getting Croupe for the rest of my life? This is stopping me from working and being social.
Avatar n tn Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
Avatar n tn HI, I had a ct and MRI and it showed the bowel is in the hernia. I have had diarrhea after meals at different times and question if this is the cause of the diarrhea. I have no pain and no vomiting and appetite very good. ALso would surgery stop this diarrhea.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar m tn I had laparoscopic surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. After 4 months, the hernia returned, and so I had a second repair surgery by incision. Now, 10 months after the second operation, I'm having some odd "tearing" pains and tenderness under the incision site, and down toward my groin. I'm trying to understand the geometry of the two repairs.
Avatar f tn Has anyone gotten the bubbly gurgling feeling in their stomach after eating or drinking anything? I'm wondering what is causing this. I already have plans to have my gb removed due to stones, but I am asking because the surgeon and other docs feel there is something more going on, as my labs and symptoms/location of pain seem to indicate. Pancreas is likely involved and I do have a hiatal hernia. White blood cells & pancreatic enzymes are elevated.
Avatar n tn Those usually happen in infants but adults have this especially if they gain weight or are obese. They may be sore from time to time but usually don't have many symptoms. Tell your doctor about it at your last physical as they can have complications of strangulation. This would be happening if it all of a sudden became very painful.
Avatar m tn Have been on Plavix for 13 months and find I need Hernia surgery now as I am having having many problems due to the Hernia. What is the possibility of having surgery? If I have surgery is the Plavix stopped for a number of days and then resumed?
