The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia. Usually one can be back to the normal routine after 2 weeks of surgery. WHY ARE QUALIFIED DOCS HAVING A HARD TIME PUTTING US TOGATHER THE RITE PAIN FREE WAY. I WENT IN AS A EMERGENCY PATIENT. SO I THOUGHT GREAT PAIN WILL BE GONE. (WRONG) WOKE UP TO PAIN. TOLD DOC SHE SAID U JUST HAD MAJOR ORGAN OUT.GIVE IT 3 MO. SEEMED REASONABLE. GO BK 3 MO LATER WITH PAIN. DOC SAYS U SHOULD OF TOLD ME RITE AWAY.

My recovery was quick and very easy. I had a great surgeon and also I had the surgery before there was a lot of damage done. I made sure that I only ate what I was suppose to and ate only 1/2 cup at a time about every 2 to 3 hours. The one time I ate more, I had the shoulder pain and went for a long walk and this helped. I was on soft food when I went home from the hospital and ate still only 1/2 cup. I ate blended foods. No tomato, carbinated drink or any acid food.

as for a time line to feeling better it is different for everyone we have a formula we use on the forum it goes like this.....how long your on it??? how high a dose???? and your age will all factor in...age is a big factor the 20/somethings recover a lot quicker then someone in there 40s or 50s just know you will recover and congrats on 7 days now...

I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?

Remember, though, that this is MAJOR surgery, and the recovery process takes a really long time. My aquaintence expects to need help around the house for at least a year. She has other health issues, too, but the point is that this is a very big deal. The longer you can put off this surgery, the better off you'll be. so i had the ultrasound and the cyst is not major thank god and now I just have to get surgery to take out hernia and close the hole so every thing is great and I will be just fine

The pain level seems to be less than the hernia surgery, and it stays closer to the incision site not radiating out as much. I also forgot to mention that the surgery I had was to remove the bullet. The stitches from the surgery and from the entry dissolved and addition the the minor pain with erection my penis has a different curve to it. It's not as thick or long as it was. I am hoping that in a few more weeks of healing it will come back to normal.

hey! if the organs are getting bigger, known as a disease called "Acromegaly", she will need special medication and it might take a long time for her to recover. There is a lot of great information about this disease on the net only if this is the case. I hope that everything goes well for her.

er says because i already have surgery schedueled they can do nothin unless it ruptures or infection i have to folllow up with ob....how long is too long to wait?

It taes a long time to recover from the surgery and I can imagine it gets even harder the older you get. All of those muscles are cut. Is there a problem giving her the meds? I would talk to her dr. and try to find a combo that helps her with the pain. I was still having pain two months after my surgery. Good luck to you and your mom.
