Avatar n tn I have hernia after my pregnancy and my tummy did not go back to its shape before pregnancy .
Avatar f tn It is possible it will go down or be less noticeable after you deliver, yet will always be there. If it gets worse surgery will be the treatment. I scheduled my hernia surgery just this morning for the end of NOV. YIPPY LOL Hope This Helps.
Avatar n tn Hello, Kate I too agree that it sounds like a hernia. I have had all 3 the hernia which I'm having surgery for Dec 6th, the ovarian cysts, and an ectopic pregnancy-both of which I had surgery for years ago. The ovarian cyst would not be protruding to the outside there has to be some sort of weakness in the lining, or the area for that to happen generally seen with a hernia, and your puking episodes could have caused enough straining to cause it.
Avatar f tn I had an umbilical hernia with my 3rd pregnancy. I was told they wouldnt do surgery while I was pregnant unless it became strangled. I had surgery about 2 months after my son was born. I got pregnant a few weeks later and went on to deliver my 4th child without difficulties. The surgery itself didnt take long and I left the same day. You are told to do no lifting afterwards. The insiion is maybe 1.5 inches long and kinda curved like a smiley face smile.
Avatar n tn Both were repaired during my surgery. I can speak to the hernia surgery, but of course mine was in conjunction with a complete hysterectomy. Because I had two hernias repaired, I woke up with a "binder" on. It is a large, thick, stretchy type of material that wraps around you and closes tightly with velcro. It started above my bellybutton and covered me all around to down below the hips.
Avatar n tn I took a ovulation test during the lumps occurrence which turned out positive. I got pregnant that month. The lump did not persist during the pregnancy or during breastfeeding. I did however have a complicated pregnancy due to a "sensitive uterus" I contracted from 28 to 38 weeks. The birth was induced but relatively normal with no complications. After breast feeding my cycle continued and the lump came back mid cycle.

1342947 tn?1276200358 I agree it sounds like a hernia! After I had my second child I was diagnosed with Abdominal Separation, which is a lot like a hernia but not painful. Fortunately they can correct a hernia but with AS you are stuck with it unless you have a tummy tuck. So here I am trying to loose all this weight and I stuck with a huge egg bulging out of my belly! Gross!!!! Just make sure you mention this to your OB so they can monitor it so it does not get a kink in it!
Avatar m tn A male lower abdominal hernia? I am no doctor, paramedic and I am no longer a combat lifesaver. I work around a lot of steel. At times I have to hand pull 400 foot lengths of cable threw that steel. The big cables weigh in at least 5 pounds per foot. So a lot of people around me tend to get a hernia in the same place amoungst all the other straining injuries. I have also got a straining injury myself, from not wearing the proper underwear of all things.
584039 tn?1220514824 i got mine 1st nearly 10yrs ago whilst pregnant with my daughter who is now 9yrs.. i suffered terrible acid during pregnancy and found difficult to lay down even bending over i would just throw up acid tasting rubbish..(all back again but not pregnant) i had open surgery and took 6wks to get back to near normal activities. Have they decided which type of surgery you will be having if lucky enough keyhole best option if small enough.
Avatar f tn Is there anything that can be done during pregnancy? If it turns out the baby does have this, does it affect the pregnancy at all? Are there any increased risks to the other? I know it depends on how severe the case is, but can this have lasting effects even if the surgery is successful? I don't have a copy of the specific image that the OB had, but does the description of it appearing as a "3" mean anything to you? Could it have been a shadow or something?
1222635 tn?1366396286 i need surgery for my hernia and i need surgery for my back (since i have been put in a back brace once before and it didn't heal properly and is now fractured again, surgery seems the only option)... after the discovery of my hernia i placed a call to a medicaid worker to find out if a visit to a surgeon to look at my hernia and surgery to repair it would be covered and you know what she told me?
Avatar n tn Several factors are responsible for hernia such as a sudden unexpected lifting of heavy item, raised intra-abdominal pressure in women during pregnancy and childbirth and laxity of abdominal wall muscles due to multiple pregnancies, sedentary life style, and lack of physical exercise. Adults with umbilical hernias are at a higher risk of developing complications such as blockage or strangulation of the intestines, which often requires emergency surgery, and can be life-threatening.
Avatar n tn Approx four years ago, I had a double mastectomy with transflap (stomach muscle) surgery to rebuild "breasts". I have found out that I am unexpectedly "expecting." I have so far not been able to find out of there are any risks to my pregnancy due to that surgery, or that missing ab. muscle. I am "popping" very early; concerned about my "core support" during pregnancy, risks of hernia, etc. Any information would be immensely helpful.
1103592 tn?1274753561 Any every have a hernia while pregnant? I was complaining the baby's head was so low it was hurting - saw my dr today & it turns out it's a hernia! Grrr- at least baby sounds great (got to hear her hiccups on doplar!). Guess I'll goggle hernias until my surgery consult in 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn I am a bit uncertain by hernias in the uterus, I know of one condition called ingunial hernias that can happen during pregnancy or child birth, and this is quite rare. Could it perhaps be another word? Or perhaps did one of her fibroids protrude from the uterus, into the pelvic cavity? I know about fibroids,Medicine can shrink some fibroids. Some women need surgery. A way to treat women with fibroids is called uterine fibroid embolization.

But now its back again and i can see it while i am coughing or when i pull in my abdomon. I am being fat and overweight since last 6months(height:170cm, weight:90kg).
Avatar f tn Hi ladies! Im 11w and my question is the doctors found a small hernia above my belly button about a year and a half ago and they saw no need to go into surgery for it but now that im pregnant do u think this hernia is going to cause issues at all??? Or does anyone else have a similar issue? Thanks ladies!!!!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with mild esophagitis caused by GERD. I was put on Aciphex. I was also diagnosed with hiatal hernia during endoscopy. I already knew I had one because an upper GI series 6 years ago detected it. Even so, the doctor who performed the endoscopy, sent me to get another more current upper GI series. The results came back “no obvious hiatal hernia”, even though the endoscopy showed one and the upper GI series from 6 years ago did too.
Avatar m tn In August I had a second traditional open surgery for the same hernia...During the winter it also failed..I am wondering whether to try surgery again with all the misery and difficulty or try to live with it with a truss..The surgeon insists that this has not happened in 500 such operations and that additional surgery will require considerably more work and methods due to all the mesh involved. I am very active and need input...Please offer suggestions....
Avatar f tn I had a csection not bcuz of the hernia but I am high risk & have other complications. I don't think having the hernia would be a cause/need for a csection but you'll have to talk to Ur dr about that. Although during my csection they were able to repair my hernia. My dr wasn't sure if he was going to be able to fix it but he was :-) he said that they usually are unable to repair it during a C.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend had hernia surgery over 2 years ago, since the surgery he has a lot of pain during and after sex. It is to the point he doesn't want to get off, because that is when it hurts the worst. Is there something he can do to correct this problem.
Avatar m tn I previously had a ventral hernia that was fixed during emergency surgery after bowel incarceration. Prior to that surgery, I had 3 C- Sections, and later, I had my appendix removed, so there is a ton of scar tissue etc in my mid area. It's this, among other factors that makes the surgery very high risk.
