5959600 tn?1377396574 My boyfriend had double hernia surgery in the beginning of February, it's going on September and just recently he's had swelling of the veins that go into his sac, he said its very painful and it's followed by lower abdominal pain. Could this be serious and is there a certain type of doctor he should see rather than a regular check up doctor at a clinic?
Avatar m tn Hello~What type of hernia operation was it? I have not heard of not being able to get travel insurance because of it. I would ask your doctor and see what he has to say, maybe he can shed some light as to why this is.
Avatar n tn The surgery is a minor surgery and will help the hernia to not get worse. This type of surgery is common and is not a big deal. However, surgery in general can cause scarring and has the potential to cause other problems. So, you can leave the hernia. Perhaps it will get worse or perhaps it will stay the same. Hernias in adults rarely close. Or you can get surgery, it is an outpatient surgery and common. But surgery is surgery and can have deletrious side affects.
Avatar m tn what type of hernia exercise (if you have) can i do that can help me developed back the muscles that causes my abdominal hernia? Can it help me avoid surgery? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I recently had surgery for a Hernia about two years ago, all went well. Since then I've been getting pains in my groin area on the same side i had the surgery. i mean it is almost like a building pressure and it gets to the point where i cant even stand up. Could this be because of my surgery and are the doctors Responsible for this? I have no medical Insurance either right now so me going to the doctor isn't likely.
Avatar f tn My Gynecologist thinks I have a hernia. I have a CT scheduled for Friday and a follow up on Tuesday to discuss results and the plan. It's looking like, either way, I'm having another surgery. If it's not a hernia and nothing else alarming shows up, they will assume it's scar tissue and likely to a laparscopy to look for and break up scar tissue/adhesions. Anyone out there have a hernia after surgery?
202436 tn?1326474333 Has anyone every had any experience with this? What type of surgery was done and how long was the recovery time? What type of limitations were set after the surgery and for how long? DH is our only source of income at this point and while this is most likely going to be a workmans comp issue I want to be prepared. Thanks for any insight!
Avatar n tn my hernia surgery was open type with no mesh used.
341655 tn?1240368839 Yes. The surgery for a hiatal hernia is the Nissen Fundaplication, where a portion of the fundus is wrapped around the esophagus in the area of the lower esophageal sphincter. As for the type, 90% of all hiatal hernias are sliding hernias, not paraesophageal, so it's probably a sliding hiatal hernia that you have.
1322711 tn?1278415855 I had gone to my doctor who sent me to ER thinking it was a hematoma from the surgery, tumor, or hernia. I had a CT scan done in ER and it showed up clean. Next step was my OBGYN who did an ultrasound. That came back clean. I was then sent to a GI doctor who did a colonoscopy and that also came back clean. I then went to a laparoscopy specialist who did not find anything either. I finally went to a general surgeon who also found nothing.
Avatar n tn studies show that all PPIs may promote osteoporosis. I have a hiatal hernia that seems to make my stomach an open door at all times. Though all my symptoms seem worse Feb.-June. I have been on some type of meds for over 10 years, but only when I have flare-ups. And he said most surgery only lasts 5 years. So I feel he really didn't give me any options. Any thoughts? I have been med free for a week and have been miserable despite diet changes. I can barely eat!
Avatar m tn I stopped tugging, but a year later the pain is still present (although not as bad). I went to the doctor, and they thought a possible hernia. I had an ultrasound and they determined there may be a "small amount of fat pushing through." The surgeon wouldn't do anything because if there is a hernia there, it's incredibly small and surgery could make it worse. I'm not convinced that it's a hernia anyways. Is there anything else this could be besides a hernia?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a seroma in August after having hernia surgery. I'm just now returning to work and I was wondering if heavy lifting will cause the seroma to swell and become sore again.
Avatar f tn Hello I went to a walk-in and the PA sent me for a sonogram which confirmed the hernia. what kind of specialist should I consult to interpret the sonogram results and do the surgery?
Avatar m tn I have reviewed patient testimonies, FDA recalls, and medical literature about mesh, and I have decided I am going to absolutely avoid it. I am 28 years old with what is likely a sports hernia. There is no noticeable bulge or hernia, and the pain has become unbearable and will confine me to a bed for a week or two at a time. The pain originally manifested in my testicles, but recently I feel pressure in my groin area, resulting in a pinched feeling in my femoral nerves.
Avatar n tn I would go see your doctor, or possibly the surgeon who did the surgery. It is rare to do an umbilical hernia without mesh these days, unless it is a tiny hernia. While unlikely, after all this time, it could be an infection of the repair. It is also very possible that it is an infection completely unrelated to the surgery, but either way it should be checked out.
Avatar f tn We're not doctors, just people dealing with chronic pain so we can make suggestions but it's not medical advice. You said you saw one a year and a half ago and had injections, but you didn't say if you are seeing anyone recently. I'd definetly recommend seeing a neurologist or type of doctor who diagnosed the hernia. It sounds like it could possibly be adhesions as I have heard they are painful. I have also heard they're hard to diagnose.
Avatar f tn I did go to the doctor to see if perhaps some of the metal screws had come loose and was poking out of my foot . Everything was inplace. The doctor said I had a hernia of my foot. I did not know hernias could form in the foot? My concern is, Can it become a problem? Can it be repaired? I know hernias in other areas can be fixed. Is there anything I can do about the hernia? I sure would appreciate any information you can give me on this problem.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
