hernia-surgery

Avatar f tn I had a double hernia surger (lower abdomen & between my ribs) both on top of old scars. Now, 8 months later, I have had an Ultrasound, CT, MRCP all indicating Chronic Pancretitis. I am scheduled for an ERCP. I am not nor have been a drinker and I have had no trauma to my abdomen (except the hernia surgery. I don't feel as if I fully recovered from the hernia surgery. Could a hernia surgery or the scar tissue from that lead to pancretitis or dammage to my pancrease?
Avatar n tn The surgery is a minor surgery and will help the hernia to not get worse. This type of surgery is common and is not a big deal. However, surgery in general can cause scarring and has the potential to cause other problems. So, you can leave the hernia. Perhaps it will get worse or perhaps it will stay the same. Hernias in adults rarely close. Or you can get surgery, it is an outpatient surgery and common. But surgery is surgery and can have deletrious side affects.
415684 tn?1257329318 My mother had a mesh put during her initial debulking surgery and not due to a hernia problem. She developed a nodule at the site from which they drained fluid to diagnose her OVC. She is now 4 months post op but still feels lot of stretch internally at the mesh site. Other than that she has had no problems. She was even able to take IP chemo with this mesh inside.
354706 tn?1279470795 I am wondering whether anyone who has hernia? The last CT scan stated that my mum has hernia on both sides of the groin. Her hernia lump comes and goes. But just a few days ago, she find that one side of the hernia lump has not appeared for a long time while the one of her left side seemed to be a permanent fixture which cannot be pushed back . It is now the size of a very big egg. She did have a low grade fever a few days ago but is now okay.
378425 tn?1305628294 I had my surgery in Feb. 08 then 4 week check-up in March. The doctor said my next check-up would be June. I am having intermittent sharp burning pain above my belly button, I can feel something hard there. I told dr in March that area was tender and it was swelled. He did not really say anything, so I figured it had to do with incision. To me the swelling is still there, is this something anyone else has experienced, could this be a Hernia?
Avatar f tn Thanks girls for your concern and comments. Just back from the oncologist and it is an incisional hernia. No surgery scheduled, we'll just watch it since it is not causing any pain. Sbould it get larger or cause discomfort then surgery. No worries according to onc; "I bet your not the only kid on the block with one"....that was his comment. The best news is my test results were all normal and my CA125 was 6.8 (the lowest it has ever been).
Avatar m tn s and so I concluded that the only hope to fix this problem was to close the hiatal hernia. I found one of the most recognized surgeons in Argentina who is also the head of surgery in the GI department at the best hospital in Argentina. He told me he had done at least a thousand of these surgeries. Faced with a lifetime of throat clearing and cough I threw the dice and decided to have it done. Today is 28 November and the surgery was performed on 15 Nov.
Avatar m tn Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar n tn Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
494961 tn?1250742077 Yes, your symptoms could be caused by a hiatal hernia. I also suffered from this until fundoplication surgery (which has opened up a Pandora's box of other syptoms).
1580703 tn?1651904887 The doctor examined me and found a groin hernia and I'm scheduled for surgery in sept. I think I want laproscopic but am I going to end up with permanent pain? will the mesh or non-tension method fail to stop the hernia from progressing? I think it's from the gym or coughing from this tracheotomy I'm getting this crippling nausea sometimes and sometimes protonix helps. is it from the hernia or diabetes or GERD? thanks!
Avatar m tn Have been on Plavix for 13 months and find I need Hernia surgery now as I am having having many problems due to the Hernia. What is the possibility of having surgery? If I have surgery is the Plavix stopped for a number of days and then resumed?
Avatar f tn I think that the kind of hernia surgery you are looking at it is a relatively simple surgery, as far as surgery goes. I don't think the dog will have to be put under deep anaesthesia, the procedure is something that is done close to the surface, and it is a fairly quick operation. I would expect a healthy dog to recover well. Your boy might have some activity restrictions while he is recovering, to keep him from pulling the stitches loose and undoing the procedure.
1103592 tn?1274753561 Any every have a hernia while pregnant? I was complaining the baby's head was so low it was hurting - saw my dr today & it turns out it's a hernia! Grrr- at least baby sounds great (got to hear her hiccups on doplar!). Guess I'll goggle hernias until my surgery consult in 2 weeks.
Avatar n tn Hi Jenny, I have a hiatal hernia, but do not require surgery...I have known about my hernia since I was in my teens. I had a few flares that required meds...but, with proper diet and lifestyle I am able to keep it under control without meds. I just got my self off meds after being on them 2 yrs....I had flares from 3 diff surgeries....the meds they use to put u under alone can upset a balanced system.
Avatar m tn I have already planned the surgery to fix the hernia for next week . 2 days ago I had an ultrasound which showed that I have gallbladder sludge and maybe some very small stones . I never had any pains in the stomach and the only thing that might be a symptoms is some digestive problems . The doctor advised that since I am going to surgery for the hernia I should proceed with the removal of the gallbladder .
341655 tn?1240368839 Yes. The surgery for a hiatal hernia is the Nissen Fundaplication, where a portion of the fundus is wrapped around the esophagus in the area of the lower esophageal sphincter. As for the type, 90% of all hiatal hernias are sliding hernias, not paraesophageal, so it's probably a sliding hiatal hernia that you have.
Avatar f tn I need gallbladder surgery in the near future. I have abdominal meshing and want to know if they can do laproscopic surgery on me or not. ANYONE have my issue?
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
