I had a few umbilicar hernia operations, the last surgery a mesh was placed in my stomic. Years later I noticed my stomic is geting larger and larger and it is very hard, I was told i need two doctors one for the hernia and the other for the diastasis abd wall. My questions are - 1 would my insurance pay? 2- Do you know of a good Doctor. - Is it a diffacult operation?

Hello, I used to have extreme pain in the left lower abdomen area (groin area), which was the result of a hernia. I had surgery in July and that took all the pain away. Unfortunately, about two weeks ago, the same exact pain came back. For the past few days, Ive had extreme sharp pain in the same area. I went to the surgeon who fixed my hernia, and she proclaimed that "there is no way the pain is from the hernia".

Most hospitals work with patients with payments. Doctors, it depends. There is pre op tests done before surgery, too. I'm going for my first Dec 21. Doctor wanted her payment first so. I will be finding out soon what the hospital asks for this.

I'm having a total thyroidectomy next Tuesday, February 5th. I will have two surgeons performing the surgery and their fee is $3,800. I'm having my surgery at a surgery center affiliated with a hospital in and staying overnight. They told me their estimated cost would be $10,000 - $12,000. And, the bills for the anestesiologist and the pathologist (because my thyroid is coming out for cancer suspicion) will come separate. I'm guessing that will be another $1,000 or two.

Each insurer creates separate contracts at different price points for the same provider/facility. So a prenatal appointment with Dr X might cost $100 with Blue Cross Blue Shield but cost $200 with United. It is so stupid. In the next few years the federal government is pushing to make costs more even across the board.

It seems that there is a strange link between my left testicle with the area, and around the area, of my hernia repair incision. This link starts from the back side of my testicle. From the research I've done, it seems that the Vas deferens or spermatic cord have a discomforting link with the area around the hernia repair wound. This is not painful but it is discomforting to say the least.

I can not get travel insurance in relation to hernia surgery. Wondering what the risk is of complications post surgery? Do I go or not go?

My insurance covered it with just my copay at our doctors office. I would call your insurance to see if they cover it or even partly cover it.

I have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration and receive the intraocular injection which is very effective. My insurance carrier will not cover the cost of the injection (medicine and surgery). If I had a diagnosis of macular degeneration it would be fully covered. Dr Zenn at Duke told me the first step of Diep will cost sixty thousand.. with tmy insurance paying eighty percent of what they think he should have charged. I hope it's an honest input error. I work at a (different) hospital, and I know those things happen. Every place charges a different amount but I would ask the doctors office who you will have perform the surgery and they should be able to tell you the cost and they will be able to tell you how much your insurance covers.. I have had the surgery twice and both times the billing dept for the docs office told me my out of pocket cost before the surgery..Hope this helps.. Good Luck..

Can some one explain to me why? It is my understanding that insurance with cover cataract surgery and placement of a monofocal lens. However, cataract surgery with placement of a multifocal lens (instead of the monofocal) is considered 'elective' and not covered. Why can't I pay for the difference between the monofocal lens and the multifocal lens? Is the cost to the surgeon for the ReZoom lens really $3,000 more than the cost of the monofocal lens?

If anyone of you have undergone surgery in CEC, please share your experience. As I will not have insurance coverage, the surgery cost is a big worry for me. I know it varies from patient to patient, but please let me know how much it cost you, so that I can have some rough idea of how much to expect.

Sadly to say, but had the same experience with a previous misdiagnosis with a Dr. stating that I had a hital hernia and putting me on protonix (same Dr. that was negligent in a surgery that's irreversible) in which, I've learned I don't have a hital hernia, nevertheless have to take a acid reducer now for the rest of my life.
