Heavy periods teenagers

Common Questions and Answers about Heavy periods teenagers

Avatar n tn she has stopped for now, but of course have no way to be sure. She is already on the pill due to heavy periods. She is verbally very abusive to her younger sister, who doesn't seem to care and just takes it in stride and always says she is glad she is not like her older sister. She seems to have few friends....the friends she has only are her friends when they want something from her, then when they don't need her they talk about her and spread rumors.
Avatar n tn Symptoms of hypothyroidism include, more commonly, inability to tolerate cold temperatures, dry skin, brittle nails, yellowish skin color, feeling weak or drowsy or sluggish, memory problems, depressive-type symptoms, difficulty concentrating, constipation, fatigue, heavy or irregular menstrual periods, behavior change, school performance problems, problems in growth and development, persistent abdominal pain (children and teens often appear to be younger than they are).

202436 tn?1326477933 I guess I just needed to hear someone else say it LOL. I don't remember anything about my periods as a teenagers, just that I started them when I was 14. So I couldn't go on what my experience was. I've tried to get DD14 to keep track of her cycles and symptoms but she keeps forgetting to write it down. I'm lucky she remembers her name most days LOL.
Avatar n tn Straight away when I read your post I thought of Anaemia.. does she have heavy periods? When I was in my teens I used to have fainting spells, and after loads of tests it was put down to my hormones and periods, and I was only borderline Anaemic. I would take her to the doctor and get some blood tests for Anaemia, Thyroid, Diabetes etc..
Avatar f tn I'm 14 years old and I have these periods where my brain starts to race and it feels like everything is going in fast motion. When I talk, somebody is talking, music is playing or when I walk it feels like everything is going in fast motion like everything is being extremely rushed. It happens at least once every 2 weeks but i've had it twice this week .
Avatar n tn I think I'd worry less if I knew that lots of people with acne are put on oral antibiotics for similarly long periods of time. Could you provide an estimate on the percent of teenagers that are put on long-term antibiotics to treat acne?
Avatar f tn I'm pretty embarrassed to be talking about it but , i don't think its healthy. This is my second period after 13 days of startng my first one and my "flow" is super heavy and i'm not overweight or anything so i dont think it should be happening like that. It's like huge globs and really dark, I've had to change 4 times already and thats more that i change in a day usually.
Avatar f tn Stress can delay your period & so can being overweight, even up to a full skip. You may also want to ask your doctor about your birth control. Some birth control pills can reduce your periods & make you skip or late. Feel free to get a second opinion at a pregnancy clinic too. Most of those clincs offer free tests & advice to teenagers.
1729804 tn?1310027328 My vagina has bled once before. It wasn't a heavy flow or anything. Blood just showed up in my underwear for about 2-3 days. I thought it was my period or something. The most part is that, I never had my period before I am 13 and scared. I'm afraid I will never get my period. I do not know if it could be a symptom of a period or whatever. I so afraid, it happened about 5 months ago and never happened again.
Avatar m tn hi im 16 years old and i recently had my period a week later i am bleeding again but its abnormally heavy which is not normal for me because my periods are usually very light and only last 3 days but Ive been bleeding now for four days and im not on my period im not exactly sure whats wrong but im very worried that there could be something very wrong. i am on the birth control ortho evra ( the patch ) and im pretty sure it has nothing to do with that. im just looking for answers!
Avatar f tn My periods are crazy heavy and really long - like 30 days long! Most times I have to kick start my hormones with medication to stop my period (which seems really backward I know!). Anyhow. I have 2 wonderful teenagers from a previous relationship and my boyfriend of 13 years has raised them.
Avatar f tn Then I still get the very heavy one with bad cramps (which I'm having right now.) To try to describe the heavy one, let me explain what just happened to me. I was sitting in bed when I suddenly felt the awful cramps start up. I checked, but no period. I knew it was coming though. I go downstairs to get a snack and I am literally only halfway down the stairs when I feel this GUSH in my pants and even though I ran upstairs it had already gone straight through my underwear and pants.
Avatar f tn I didn't get my lower back pains too which I usually get. I typically have heavy periods. But now, I have to force my period out because it's the only way to get them out. On the first day, I woke up at 4 AM with brown discharge but after that it was already all red. The morning of second day, I was sort off relieved because bI had blood on my pad which meant I was releasing while I was asleep. 2nd day was already light and until now, the 5th.
Avatar m tn I know teenagers typically sleep a lot but this was definitely outside the norm. Her periods are not heavy. Her diet isn't very good - pretty much all carbs. Until now, she was very resistant to changing her diet and, at her age, it's hard to force her to change and I have a lot less control over what she eats. My daughter says she's willing to try to clean up her diet - and that's a great start. Anyway, her ferritin level was 5. The reference range is 14-350.
257316 tn?1199655583 ok my question is i started what i thought to be an early period on july 10 and it lasted until the 29th for some reason which has never happened before i always have heavy 7-9 day periods this one lasted weeks but never got as heavy as a normal period.
Avatar n tn I've had a few of the early signs of pregnancy extremely sore breasts, headaches, extreme tiredness, increased toilet time (haha) but the other morning i started bleeding a few days early than when my period would of been due which isnt too out of the ordinary however i usually get very heavy periods and after a day and a half this one has completely stopped, it was more than just spotting like how they describe an implantation bleed however its been a light flow of red blood (sorry to gross any
Avatar n tn For years I have complained to the pediatrician that her periods seem abnormal (heavy cramping, irregularity and exhaustion)and have been told that adolescents don't really become regular until they are about 18. They are saying surgery will not occur for 3-4 weeks. My concern is waiting this long it could rupture and become an emergency situation. Should I be pushing the doctors to operate sooner?
Avatar n tn I started my period when I was 11, and until I was 18 had completely regular periods, which I know isn't completely normal for pre-teens and teenagers, but I did; I could pin it to the day, almost every month, and it only lasted 3 or 4 days at the most. I also had no real pms, and no cramps at all. A few months before I turned 19 however, I started having severe cramps. Not just minor pain, extreme pain that has kept me out of work before.
1177497 tn?1263803408 I am 32 and I have two teenagers. I got my tubes tied almost 10 years ago. I have been having signs of being pregnant. First thing I noticed was a spotty period the week of Christmas . My periods have been the same ever since i got my tubal in 2000 . This one, was way different ! I spotted for 3 days on and off . Spotted Light red color . Breast are bigger . sick to my tummy , head aches , back pain , tired all the time , and now my tummy is swollen .
Avatar m tn If you are still a minor, you will still have to get your mother to take you to a doctor. Have you been having your menstrual cycles? Do you experience heavy and painful periods? These are indicators of hormonal imbalances, too. If you can at least see a family doctor, your doctor can refer you to see an endocrinologist or a gynacologist. Or, your doctor may try to put you on birth control pills in an attempt to balance out your hormones.
Avatar n tn Yes a heart rate of 115 is high if its at a resting state. ANYTHING over 100 is considered tachycardia at a resting rate. Yes younger children do have rapid heart rate but at 15, 115 is still too rapid at a state of relaxation. This means that Her heart is constantly working at a fast paste, that constant contraction of the heart will eventually ware at the cardiac muscle. Especially at such a young age she is going to need strong cardiac muscles for her years to come.
Avatar n tn Lightheadedness (constant), Chest wall pain (sometimes) tunnel vision (sometimes) dizzy spells (sometimes) heart pvc's, shortness of breath with exercise (each time)  (sometimes) blurred vision, dimmed vision, fogged vision (sometimes) neck pain (sometimes) shoulder pain (sometimes)  full spinal back pain (sometimes)  rib cage pain (sometimes), pelvic pain (sometimes)  hair loss, heavy periods, tension headaches (sometimes), ringing in the ears (has happened 5 times in the past 2 months), heard
Avatar m tn They've been so bad I've been an-able to move and I haven't had school for now two days because of it. I usually get really heavy periods and barely any cramps but I've been crying loads and my and my boyfriend are worried about it. I think that if my cramps continue I will have to go to a doctor but my mum said that when she was my age she had really bad cramps too so I'm honestly clueless. I'm just wondering if anyone could just try and help and give me advice or something?
Avatar f tn I really really want to be on birth control as I am sexually active and for my acne and my heavy periods. I was looking into taking Yasmin but does anyone have any suggestions?
613471 tn?1244205388 Not only has it helped shorten my period went from 8-9 days down to 5 days 3 of them being medium type bleeding. And 1 heavy day and a light day. I have also tried **** quai and it seems to be helping with the moodiness and such I was wondering if you ladies have given any herbs a try? And what you found out…..
Avatar f tn I had a laparotomy (bikini incision) and was able to be back on my feet in a short time. I never had any real symptoms related to endometriosis (heavy periods, pain, irregular periods, bloating, etc) and just by doing a CAT SCAN because I suffer from urinary infections and bowel syndrome, they found the cyst and they believed it was malignant, but thank God it wasn't. So my recommendation, is find a doctor you feel comfortable with and look at the options you have.
Avatar n tn However I know all these feelings will pass and I think for those suffering pain and discomfort and the inconvinience of heavy periods its a small price to pay.
Avatar f tn I'm a 37 year old mom and have problematic fibroids that cause heavy bleeding and somewhat of a swollen belly (my doctor says that my uteras is the size of a 4month pregnancy). I had the uterine fibroid embolization procedure in April 2006. That procedure only did half the job (I don't have to go to the bathroom as much and I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom - however, the heavy bleeding still exists).
