Heavy periods diabetes

Common Questions and Answers about Heavy periods diabetes

Avatar m tn Hey Jim! It actually advisable for type 2's to go low, low carb. I avoid medication by living a Paleo dietary lifestyle. I did so because my blood glucose had crept into T2 territory after years of dancing with the devil, "high fructose corn syrup". That and the near constant M&M drip line that sat on my office desk all day. The first couple of weeks are literal pain. There is definitely a carb withdrawal period.
Avatar n tn I am almost 45 yrs old and for the last few years my period has been getting less frequent. like i may have had maybe 4 periods in the whole year last year. but my last one now was 4 months ago yesterday. Avatar f tn PCOS usually starts at puberty and is associated with irregular periods and other hormone related symptoms. The most concerning issues with PCOS are the increase of infertility, the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and the higher risk of developing endometrial (uterine) cancer at an early age. Your challenge is that PCOS is a systemic, complex disorder that needs to be actively managed by you for the rest of your life.
Avatar m tn Hello, You seem to be having the symptoms of metrorrhagia(heavy periods). Various factors causing it are endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, hormone imbalance, endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, use of IUD’s and depo shots, sexually transmitted diseases,PCOS and benign and malignant pathologies of the uterus. I would suggest you to consult a gynecologist and get a pelvic examination and swab culture done to confirm the diagnosis. Treatment depends on the confirmation of diagnosis.
823438 tn?1238594823 Thats actually incorrect. Having PCOS myself and from talking to other moms & women who have PCOS... your periods are heavy and long... not short and light. It could also be an estrogen problem. Are you on birth control?
Avatar m tn Non-hemlysed trace of blood in urine a week before at onset. The nurse answering the call asked if i had diabetes and had I been tested. The first question the Dr asked was had I diabetes so I'm guessing they might be trying to tell me something. The ER doc said it was a urinary tract infection. Rxed Trimethoprim and said to see my own GP. Also the GU/STD Doctor said it's nothing to do with HIV/STIs and didn't disagree I should get checked for Diabetes.
Avatar n tn He has been having a terrible time with being so down and hard on himself. I know he understands that diabetes is not his fault, but inside, I think he is blaming himself. He is saying things like "I hate myself", "why do these bad things always happen to me".
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if high blood sugar (like 180-240) can delay or stop your periods? I know the copper IUD is hormone free and does not affect periods. I have been getting sharp pains off and on on the left side and cramping and sharp pains at my c-section scar. I swear I can feel my uterus contracting and it's painful but still no AF.
5856747 tn?1403352282 • Any chronic illness or debility such as Cystic Fibrosis, Multiple Sclerosis, Tuberculosis, Diabetes or Crohns Disease can cause periods to be erratic or absent. Deliberate Postponement of Periods. Doctors are sometimes asked about ways to bring about a temporary cessation of menstruation. Avatar f tn HI, I've been having severely heavy periods (soak thru a Super tampon and nightime pad in the night) every since I got my cycles back post baby delivery. Painful cramps in front and low back, gas and bloating, accompanied usually with diarrhea. the last few cycles stopping after 2-3 days just to start up again a day or so later. My blood work shows a low TSH. could you give me an idea as to possible answers? I'd appreciate it. My doc says some people just get heavy periods.
Avatar m tn Over the last few months, I've been having some of the classic warning signs of diabetes - very frequent urination, somewhat increased thirst, extreme fatigue that no amount of sleep or exercise seems to relieve - but the blood glucose tests are coming back normal. Any idea what might be going on here? As an added twist, I'm currently in a 3rd world country where the standard of medical care is fairly low, so any advice is appreciated.
Avatar f tn not only did they hurt, but they felt very heavy. I also have been gaining weight, but that's nothing new, it's been a gradual thing since high school. Now, I am at a stage in my life where I have a new job, am taking the last college class I'll need to graduate, am trying to find a new apartment, and I'm getting married in less than 3 month, and we're planning the whole thing ourselves, so, I might conceivably buy this "late due to stress" thing.
Avatar n tn I suffer from serverely painful and heavy periods, I have also noticed the older I'm getting the more irregular they are becoming.I have looked into the injection Provera but unfortunately I have a history of depression although some years ago and many of my family suffer from diabetes, my mum had breast cancer a few years ago, so it seems that this injection is unsuitable for me.So can you please recommend an alternative medication if such a thing exists.
Avatar n tn Very heavy pulling feeling on the face and the body tension in the head, very heavy head, blocked ears, slightly unclear when reading, and very tired during normal hours of the day. Can this really all be down to anxiety and if so how can I rid of this I am not one to stay at home.??
Avatar n tn At age 38 I was told I was in perimenopause...My periods were heavy, painful, and irregular, I was getting horrible hot flashes as well...I kept having unexplained low blood sugar episodes (down to 22 mg/dl at one time -I felt BAD), and my sex drive was nanda...At that time (I found out about this 4 years later) my blood calcium levels were already elevated...I was also suspected of having cystic ovaries, but my Dr didn't follow up on it...
Avatar f tn generalized pruritus ----for a long period. heavy periods period cramps ----mild hairy body ----hairy legs, very fine hairs over upper lip, breasts. naive attitude ----makes silly mistakes often. clumsy in daily tasks. suggest me ...possible causes and things to ask doc.
Avatar m tn To The Community, Hello, I have a question concerning my father, who is east asian and 60. There is a history of diabetes in the family, he has Alpha-thalassemia, and I believe he is a hepatitis B carrier. Months ago, he mentioned that he felt that his right leg (below the kneecap) felt "heavy" and uncomfortable for periods at a time. The symptom would come and go. He attributed this to his work, as he stands for most of the day.
Avatar n tn Our daughter is in the same situation, she is 8 and was diagnosed 3 months ago. Occassionaly shy complains of pain but it is not sore to touch. It sometimes seems to be after a 'heavy' meal, e,g, including potatoes & turnips, but we haven't been able to see a pattern. Our diabetes team dismissed same as being unrelated to Type 1.
Avatar n tn Could be pcos, being heavy, diabetes and irregular periods are all signs. I have it and its easily managed ....
Avatar n tn (about every 3-6 months) My periods are awful. I have bleeding pretty much all the time. No real cycle. My GYN kept blaming it on my thyroid. (which I can understand if I am hypo, but even when it is in the "normal" range I still have the bleeding) I switched Gyno's and the new one says that sometimes people with thyroid probs continue to have symnptoms despite their thyroid being regulate with meds. She told me I may just have to learn to live with it. NO WAY!!
1564087 tn?1308951118 random sharp shooting abdominal pain (above belly button and in ovaries) hands randomly become red, burns, and itches super bad!! sometimes swell up! infertility heavy and irregular menstrual!! it started when i was around 13 and first got my menstrual, i thought it was normal for a long time. i wouldn't bleed for a few months (2-5) then i will bleed (severely) for 4-8 months none stop. (no joke) i go threw a pad + tampon in an hour or two!! its insane.
Avatar n tn has been a consistent 21 days, with severe cramping and heavy bleeding. Last January I went 6 weeks between periods, and thought I was pregnant, but was not. Since then there are anywhere from 10 days to 21 days between periods, still very painful and heavy. I have had a couple cysts in the past, but none currently. I have been tested for PCOS and bloodwork to check my thyroid, but everything has come back OK.
Avatar n tn I think that they are referring to very heavy bouts of drinking, for prolonged periods of time. Someone doing that on tx would not be on tx for long, and I also do not think that sort of drinking behavior would result in SVR. I think many have also used alcohol after SVR, and do not seem to be compromising their SVR, BUT...
Avatar n tn I had no period at all for 8-9 months, and we were using no birth control at all. I went back on the pill and began having periods on the placebo week again. I continued the pill till March of last year, when I was with my current fiancee. I didn't have a period till Sept-Oct of last year, and have had only 1 or 2 very short ones (2-3 days) since then - but the last one I had was so heavy I soaked through a super tampon in an hour, while sitting in a recliner with my feet up.
Avatar f tn I started a period 2 weeks ago after having years of no periods or my one-day one-wipe periods (bleeding lasting only one wipe of the toilet paper) every few months. Had constant ovarian cysts. Can't take hormones at all (any kind) due to severe blood clots that went to my lungs 2 years ago from birth control - to control my PCOS. Period has now lasted 2 full weeks as of today and the bleeding is not stopping at all. It is medium to heavy but not extremely heavy.
Avatar n tn 48 regular periods, PMS has changed and now I get a different glum mood that comes with a groggy depression like a heavy cloud, ie. physical feeling too, not just mental. Depression clears up a few days after end of period, but I'm out of commission a good week or two. Also light headed, dizzy feeling. Certain foods (ie. wheat or sugar) trigger the feelings to be worse. My doctor says perimenopausal depression is just something to live with. Also, I hate feeling like **** physcially.
Avatar n tn Straight away when I read your post I thought of Anaemia.. does she have heavy periods? When I was in my teens I used to have fainting spells, and after loads of tests it was put down to my hormones and periods, and I was only borderline Anaemic. I would take her to the doctor and get some blood tests for Anaemia, Thyroid, Diabetes etc..
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed when I was 19. I used to have heavy periods and I would bleed for weeks there was one time I was bleeding for 22 days. Then doc put me on birth control pills to control and regularize my periods. It didn't work. I switched to an RE when i was ttc. She put me on metformin, its a tablet used to treat type 2 diabetes. Also since PCOS patients have elevated levels of insulin this medicine does the trick.
Avatar n tn i have been having really bad headaches around and behind my eyes that are lasting several days, extremley heavy periods (changing my sanitray towel atleast hourly) large blood clots, cramping, pain just above the pubic bone, occasional bleeding after sex, and bleeding between periods ive also got boils under the armpit that wont go away on medication and also and red swollen throat one the right side that can often lead to ear ache.
1712386 tn?1308429581 This is very odd for me since I usually have very heavy periods. Since then I am still having light cramps, bloating, back aches, hot flashes, a sudden onset of runny nose and scratchy throat. It feels as though I'm supposed to start my period but nothing since that bleeding. I know about implantation bleeding and many of my symptoms can be pregnancy symptoms but I may just be hoping too much. Can I really be pregnant this soon?! Does anyone have any success stories on Metformin??
