Heavy periods after c-section

Common Questions and Answers about Heavy periods after c-section

period

1416390 tn?1333901604 I had a c section 20 mos ago. since then my periods have been really heavy and there is always a day I seem to gush blood. Well- my period came a week early this month and last night I seemed to have passed a lot of blood- that seemed really red. Now that I am up it does not seem to be flowing so strong. I don't have any pain- slight cramping. I am not sure whether I should go to the ER or not- hate to go if it is just my period! Just seems odd there was so, so much.
Avatar f tn My first period after my c-section was heavy too, and long. I remember calling the doctor and asking questions because I was worried. After that cycle, they started returning to normal. If you get worried, call and ask your Dr. They're always willing to answer your questions. Your periods should get better after this one.
Avatar f tn Yes, I think its your period, I was bleeding for 6 weeks, then stopped for 3 days and started bleeding again, my Dr said it could be my period, for u having bleeding 3 weeks after it stopped its your period probably, especially when u r not exclusively breastfeeding, with my first I had my period at 6 months postpartum when I introduced solids, does it feel like your normal period?
Avatar f tn They just warned me to look out for blood clots and the midwifes will want to check your pads for the first few days (or at least that was the request to me 4 yrs ago after a section). My experience - its never the same experience as anyone else - everyone and every birth have variations.
Avatar f tn You may have had a small clot that passed. The same thing happened to me 2 times after my c-section. If you are still bleeding, I doubt you are pregnant. You would have to be ovulating, and if you're continuously bleeding I wouldn't think an egg could implant.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the answer. Did any one face the serious situation u said. can you be more clear on the matter u said (scarring inside can make the next delivery difficult depending on how much scarring as well as a chance for separation during pregnancy and or delivery. If your uterus binds to your placenta it then can turn into a serious situation. ) SEPARATION- not clear to me , what separation stitches of uterus or what?
Avatar f tn How long does the bleeding from the vagina last after a c-section? I know it's different for everyone, but I'm looking for a rough estimate I guess. I know after my vaginal delivery with my first pregnancy the bleeding went on weeks, and I'm just not sure if the bleeding lasts about the same with c-sections..
Avatar f tn sorry i meant to say I really want them to but Im worried about the heavier periods and will the recovery of my c-section be longer etc?
1639915 tn?1378929213 I have seen my obgyn mutiple times over a the last 4 years and she has no idea why i have irregular menstrual cycles.
Avatar f tn For my daughter I had an emergency c-section, which was also my first. It took a couple weeks to heal, but I ended up having a set back due to a sonoma, which is a fluid build-up in the abdomen and it opened a small portion of my incision after the staples had been removed. I didn't even notice and the doctor wasn't worried about it cause it does happen sometimes. I was up and out of bed the very next day at the hospital and the same at home.
Avatar f tn m getting my period or if my body is still trying to clean itself out after the c section.
Avatar n tn I gave birth to my 3rd child via c- section in july 07. I am currently still breastfeeding. I started getting my period again in nov 07. Periods have been regular except for the consistency of the blood. The first 2 days a tampon has to be changed every 30 minutes. I dont think im bleeding more than normal its just that the blood is totally liquid and bright red like a fresh cut. Its not the usual darker clumpy bleeding ive always experienced before this last child. Could this be normal?
Avatar f tn Heavy for about 2-3 weeks then it slowed down. But if I tried to do too much I would start bleeding red again.
473246 tn?1293833673 It has been almost 3 weeks since my c-section. After the first week the bleeding really tapered off. Then it started up again (dark brown/reddish) and was not heavy bleeding, but just consistent. Today the bleeding is quite heavy and dark red. I have read in different places that bleeding could last for 6 or 7 weeks - on and off, light and heavy. Just wondering what your experiences are/have been? I am so reluctant to go back to the hospital! Any info/advice would be appreciated!
Avatar n tn HI i m very sorry to heard about your loss i also have 2 miscarriages and both times after this i had very heavy periods and its quite normal so no need to worry about it and after my last miscarriage my doctor told me if i feel that i m physically fit for again planning my baby than i should go for it but i will say you that you must consult to your doctor.
Avatar n tn yes itz normal to have weird periods post D&C,she may face longer/shorter periods,less/heavy bleeding for about 2-3 periods post D&C,it can be irregular also.
Avatar m tn In March 2009 I had a late term miscarriage, induced and delivered but had a wuick D&C to remove the remaining tissue. After I went home, I had some mild sharp pain in my lower right side, just off of my c-section scar (close to where you would feel ovulation pain). It was worse when I would use those muscles, such as when urinating or trying to have a bowell movement. I figured it was just from everything I went through and it started to get better.
Avatar f tn I only bled for three days after my c section. I didn't really worry, because my periods have always been light (3-4 days) and I didn't realize that wasn't entirely normal until I talked to my doctor about it.
Avatar f tn I'm a 30 y/o woman who's been getting irregular periods since I was 9 y/o. Because my periods have been so irregular the only time I've ever really kept track of them was when I was ttc 2 years ago. I had my son in June of 2010 & got the Paraguard IUD placed in August 2010. The Paraguard brought with it HEAVY, crampy, long (7 day, I was used to 2 1/2 or 3 day) periods.
Avatar f tn I had an emergency c section 4yrs ago with my first pregnancy. I felt fine after a week and by 2weeks after delivery i was doing everything i used to. No pain.
Avatar f tn i got on the pill after my c- section do to my period came really heavy. by taking the pill my period were shorter and light.
Avatar f tn I am heavy for my height and body structure, so I was wondering if c-section is something that will be necessary this time around?
Avatar f tn I've heard it's the same for vaginal and c-section. I had my c-section 3 weeks ago and now I'm only spotting. Take it easy and don't do too much!! I have noticed that when I am very active and do a lot of walking I bleed more. Just try to rest and you should be fine.
12205224 tn?1424027156 I am 53 years old. I have always had heavy periods, but lately my periods have lasted a long time, sometimes two weeks or more, and they become very heavy with lots of clotting. I have to wear two super plus tampons at a time and a pantiliner because they always leak. I hate it! What should I do? What can be done to make this more tolerable or stop altogether?
Avatar f tn In the days that followed the toe was not as painful as before (took pain killers only for a day), so i resume work after 2 days of the incident, I am a waitress, which requires to be on my feet for long periods of time. Now, after 2 weeks I notice that the toe hurts a lot on rainy days, but it is a dull pain, not sharp. I touched the area that was affected and I feel a slight bump.
