Heavy period reasons

Common Questions and Answers about Heavy period reasons

Avatar f tn it is just a weird period quirk like that. there is nothing wrong with you. your period is just drawn out for whatever reason. The brownish discharge is just older blood from tissues that were already broken down and just waiting to come out of the body. The most common reason is starting/changing birthcontrol. If you miss doses it can draw it out too. It throws the chemicals that regular the menstration out of whack. Stress can cause it too.
Avatar f tn Is this prolonged heavy bleeding due to the morning after pill or could it be because I didn't have a period for so long or are there any other possible reasons? I'm really worried something might be wrong and I plan to go to the Dr but I wanted to get some other opinions to see if anyone knew what it possibly may be first.
Avatar f tn I have had similar periods such as the one that you are having or have had, there could be many reasons for this. I went to my OBGYN and they put me on medication to slow down or stop my period. My advice to you would be to at least call your OBGYN and speak with a nurse about this, If they were to put you on a medication such as the one that they put me on and it does not work you could have to have many tests done. When it happened to my mother she ended having cervical cancer.
Avatar m tn could i stil be pregnant even though i got my period since then and it was pretty heavy 3. what are some other reasons for missing a period? ...iv just come back to school from holidays so could a change of routine be it?
1416390 tn?1333905204 Since I was through having babies at that time, I went ahead and decided on a partial hysterectomy, sparing my ovaries. Of course, there are other reasons for heavy bleeding, but if you are still interested in having another baby, you may need to be on birth control pills for awhile. It really helps lighten the flow drastically. Good luck to you...
Avatar f tn I am 27 years old, relatively healthy diet. I am more of a tea drinker, a cup or two a day. I even drink apple cider vinegar yeck! But it curves my sugar tooth. I don't drink alcohol or any drugs not even birth control pills. I do take vitamin supplements though....whenever I can remember too lol.

Avatar f tn Keep in mind that I am premenapausal , but I did a at home pregnacy test and it was negative. I didn't have a period until I got very sick first of February and I started. I saw my gynecologist 3 times during that period. She prescribed 10 days of provera to stop the bleeding and when that didn't work she prescribed cyclokarpon for 3 days,I saw no change and mentioned if she could do a hysterectomy.
Avatar m tn I was put on as a kid due to my heavy periods. Last year my doctor suggested I get off the pill and I did. I just got my first period last week and it was extremely heavy. Going through a super tampon every 20 mins to an hour and lasted for 7 days. Although I was hoping it was because it was the first one in quite some time. I woke this morning to a bloody mess and on the same track as last week. This is exactly how I remember my periods from years ago. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn very light periods, heavy periods, missed periods, sometimes light and sometimes heavy periods, irregular periods. After the start of periods, it may take up to 3 years for a girl to get a very regular cycle. So, it is normal to miss periods. Also the routine the girl maintains during this time, her diet and family history of settling into a regular cycle of periods plays an important role.
Avatar n tn No period for three months, not sexually active, 18 years old. I was wondering if there was a reason for my missed periods and if not producing enough blood is a reason?

Avatar m tn Hello, There are several reasons why a woman have delayed menstruation and this could be due to unhealthy diet, stress (emotional or physical), sudden weight gain or loss, caffeine, alcohol, and smoking. Gynecological conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and uterine cysts or polyps, can also bring about alteration in menstrual cycle. However, pregnancy is still the most common cause of delayed or missed period.

Avatar f tn Well, if it is heavy bleeding, it isn't implantation bleeding. Statistically, about 30% of women will experience bleeding in their first trimester. There are a variety of reasons for it and many times the cause is never really discovered. Although it's not uncommon, it should always be reported to your Dr. Rule of thumb. If it's fairly light, it can usually wait until your next appointment. If it's like a light period, you should call and see your Dr.

Avatar n tn I wasn't aware of the break until after I pulled out. This happened about 3 months ago. About 8 days later later I experienced heavy symptoms of ARS. Fever, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, extreme fatigue, lack of appetite, dry cough, extremely dry mouth, etc etc. At the time I just assumed it was a nasty flu. The symptoms persisted for approximately 10 days-2weeks.
Avatar n tn what may be causing this? and is this abnormal or just normally heavy period? I'm 41, by the way.
