Heavy period during perimenopause

Common Questions and Answers about Heavy period during perimenopause

period

Avatar f tn Now in the past 5 years, I have the facial tingling almost on a daily basis, and the migraines are every month, during ovulation, and when my period starts. I never had a headache before 8 years ago, maybe rarely on occasions, but nothing that a motrin wouldn't cure. In the last 5 years, I have crawling sensations, like bugs crawling under my skin, only when wearing clothing. I have read that this can be something called "formication".
Avatar n tn I just found out that I am in perimenopause. I have not had a period since november and have hot flashes/cold flashes, depressed, irritated loss of sex drive. To be honest with you I have lost a lot of life in general. There has got to be something I can take for this.
Avatar f tn They have been very heavy to and i used to never have clots well today i thought my period was over because the bleeding was gone since yesterday but to my surprise i sat down to use the restroom and blood poured out of me and i passed a clot the size of the palm of your hand! This same thing happend to me not last month but the month before i thought it stopped than i passed one the size of an egg, what is going on can anyone tell me a friend of mine says its premenepause?
Avatar f tn These symptoms lasted 3 months then disappeared and I felt suddenly better. I had a few minor episodes during the next year which only lasted a few weeks when I felt very tired had pain down my left side and felt very fuzzy. Then last October the feelings came back with avengence - malaise, numbness down my face and pain and pins and needles in my left hands, episodes where my blood pressure can go up and I get episodes of tachycardia.
Avatar f tn i also have a watery discharge during my period. it is clear and odorless. even if there is very little blood on my tampon, it soaks through and leaks through my pad and clothing as well. recently, i have been having less liquid blood and more clots, with a lot of the watery discharge. i have three solid days of going through both a tampon and pad within an hour. i also have severe backache and cramping, and just generally feel ill, which i realize could be just normal period stuff.
Avatar n tn Anyways, her period died down for a few days and she was feeling much better. Then two days ago it started up again and now the clots are back and her period is very heavy again. She called the doctor and he said it was normal and not to worry. I am concerned about her loosing so much blood. Is this really "normal"? They didn't do any cancer tests and my grandma had ovarian cancer. I don't know if I am just being a wory wart, but I am afraid it could be something worse.
125112 tn?1217277462 During the month, there is a time that I have very heavy discharge. No odor or pain associated with it. Last month, with my very heavy period-I passed a large clot the size of a ping pong ball. My period ended at 3 days. About a week prior to my periods, I have been sleeping very hot and waking up finding myself sweating. My face occasionally flushes, especially when going from a bent (down) position to back up.
Avatar n tn The brown blood is probably just old blood that didn't get out during your last period. Nothing to worry about besides a lot of women have brown or sometimes even black colored periods. If the lightness of the period worries you go get checked out just to be sure. But I wouldn't worry about the coloring. Good luck !
Avatar f tn Flow is a bit lighter, but not a lot so. I'm also noticing that everytime I have a period now, I get major breast pain (only a few hours before I start my period and sometimes while AF is there, but not usually afterwards). I've never really been a PMS'y kind of person before now. This last month my breast size has increased noticably. Even my husband, who never notices anything like that even remarked on it. I am normally a standard B size and I feel like I'm at least a C.
Avatar f tn I had colonoscopy, endoscopy, hormonal blood tests, gastric emptying test, CT scans of stomach and pelvic area, Ultrasound of pelvic area, Ultrasound of the stomach and organs, cancerous urine testing, fatty stool testing of bowel movement over 3 day period, acid tests, B12 tests. You name it and everything came back normal. I had 2 tests that came back with different results - gastric levels and fatty stool - one doctor was positive and another was negative.
Avatar f tn So I went on my own diet thanks to a nutritionist out in California who helped keep some weight on me during all the doctors visits and horrible tests. My body is very sensitive to those drinks you have to take before scans and radioactive iodine and all - which one made me break out in hives the next day and the drinks made my skin turn yellow and blue and have a panic attack right in the doctors office.

Avatar n tn I was winding down with short periods and sometimes skipping periods as I went through perimenopause and for some reason I thought I should take it because I saw an add on TV. The next period I had was terrible! I passed clots, almost nine days, cramped, headache, dizzy, the worst symptoms in the world. I stopped taking the stuff and the bad periods stopped. I say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Stay away from meds over the counter unless doctor suggests.

Avatar n tn not enough to even put on a pad, this would happen only when I would go to the bathroom and wipe. This would be followed with an abnormally heavy period with heavy clots. (I am experiencing this now). I have been light bleeding for about 2 weeks prior to this and am now experience on and off heavy but not soaking bleeding.
Avatar n tn For the past couple of months, however, I've started having increasingly heavy bleeding during the first days of my period with severe cramps (Ibuprofen 800 and Tylenol barely helps the pain). My last period was almost 12 days in length. This is quite different from what has been considered normal for me since I started my periods. What could this indicate? About 4 months, I had an annual pap smear which was normal. Should I go back to the doctor?
Avatar n tn I then came on 19 days later on March 18th and am now in the 9th day of this period. This present period has not been heavy and I have no pain. I am having to wear 2 tampons a day. I am just so worried as I am now in the 9th day and am still losing some blood. Some of it is brown, but some of it is definetely new blood. I am just scared it will not stop- will it ever stop? I am wondering where it is coming from.
Avatar n tn I am having this problem now after 4 days after my period. I do have PMS symptoms before and during my period but have never had swollen, painful breast after my period. I wonder if it has anything to do with the size of breasts for some of you..? I cant even call mine breasts because they are so small but now they are HUGE (to me). My bras are all fitting tightly and I dont drink ANY caffeine except for my morning single cup of coffee.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing very mild, but noticible nausea around the time I ovulate and again right before, during and after my period. It is not all the time during the day, but feels very strange and unusual and has consistently come and gone during these times. I would think I were pregnant if it had not been going on for a few months and if I had not had regular, heavy periods. We are trying to get pregnant and I wonder if something is out of balance with hormones?
Avatar f tn The levels of your reproductive hormones — estrogen and progesterone — rise and fall unevenly during perimenopause. Your menstrual cycles may lengthen or shorten, and you begin having menstrual cycles in which you don't ovulate. It's only during cycles when you do ovulate that you can become pregnant. When perimenopause starts and how long it lasts varies. You'll probably notice signs of impending menopause, such as menstrual irregularities, sometime in your 40s.
Avatar n tn Obviously, I am not in any shape or form an authority in sleep studies, but based on some readings I have done, there is no need for a long period of sleep in order to interpret one's condition during a sleep study--I can only guess that the fact that you managed to sleep for some period, it is enough for the electronic equipment (all the probes attached to you) to detect any anomalies in your sleep/awake modes.
Avatar n tn This is unusual for me, as I typically have very heavy periods/clotting for 7-8 full days. After this very light period, I had very light spotting for about a week after. So, light, I was only aware of it when I would see a tinge on the T.P. ( not trying to be gross, just explaining). Anyway, this stopped Saturday the 26th. Monday nite, the 28th another tinge, Tuesday and Wednesday nothing. This morning another tinge. And I do mean literally a tinge. lol.
Avatar f tn Fibroids are very common in women in their 30's and 40's and can cause heavy and prolonged bleeding especially during perimenopause when ovulations are sporadic. But fibroids are almost always benign. Less than 1% are cancerous. Polyps can also cause heavy bleeding. If they are the culprit, they are easily "snipped off" sort of like a skin tag (although obviously more invasive since they are on an internal organ).
Avatar n tn A few days before my period and during my period then they quit until it's due again. I still have no answers to this. So if anyone finds out anything, please feel free to share!
Avatar f tn But to my knowledge during the first 3 months following the procedure, your body and the micro-inserts work together to form a tissue barrier that prevents sperm from reaching the egg. During this period, you will need to use another form of birth control. After 3 months, your doctor will perform an Essure Confirmation Test, a special type of x-ray to confirm that your tubes are completely blocked and you can rely on the Essure micro-inserts for birth control. http://www.
Avatar n tn on this february, i got 1 month of period but some heavy n light period. the heavy period is one week. then its happen again in march after 1 week off without period. until now it didnt stop...same (light n heavy period one week)...im going to see a doctor tomorrow & i hope everything ok...
Avatar n tn Can you elaborate if the bleeding is due to a regular period and not from postcoital bleeding? During perimenopause, the frequency between periods start fluctuating considerably and women do not properly develop and release a mature egg every month as they should normally. Also, changes in the menstruation cycle may be brought about by hormone changes, stress, illness, too much exercise, gynecological conditions and even fatigue.
Avatar f tn I don't know about you ladies, but I swell up a whole extra sore cup size during the week before my period and my bra during that time period seems to constrict my breathing even worse. It feels like heavy pressure on my chest and lungs. I avoided salt extremely for about a year and it made zero difference. I have to come home and nap after work for the 3 days prior to my period and the first two days after it starts.
