Avatar f tn I am going to the gyno cologist soon to get on birth control. Any types that are great ? I have bad cramps, and heavy bleeding but my periods are pretty regular and on time. And are their any birth controls that won't make you gain weight ?!?!?!?!!?
Avatar f tn Depo takes effect as soon as you get it. It worked great for me as far as not getting pregnant but I had horrible mood swings, acne, and my appetite was out of control. It doesn't do everyone like that but all birth control has some type of side effects!
Avatar f tn part of the pill, but my periods are really heavy and my cramps are awful!! Does a birth control pill stop the bleeding completely, or just extend the amount of times between periods? Also, I have read online that there are estrogen or progestin-based pills...is there one that will work better mainly for the purpose of decreasing my flow or stopping my period all together?

Avatar n tn Hello, I am on birth control, I had sex May 27 then got my period on June 1st, it was regular & on time. I had a pap biopsy on June 13 and bled from that from the 13th-24th. I was on vacation during this time and forgot to take my birth control at exact times but did take it as soon as I remembered. I then had sex on July 1, he pulled out. I got my period on time July 6 but it was a little shorter than usual.
Avatar m tn Hi there, It is recommended to have at least one normal period prior to conceiving in order to estimate your ovulation cycle after cessation of birth control pills. After stopping pills a short delay may occur before ovulation resumes. Depending on the type of birth control pill you are on, your ovulation cycle may resume quickly or delay for some time .It is possible for your period to be delayed after stopping the pill, which may impact your ovulation and ability to conceive.

2050212 tn?1330287757 I've been on birth control for six years, and I have never missed a period. Last month I missed my period so I stopped taking my birth control unsure if I was pregnant, and I've started bleeding a week before I usually would. It's extremely heavy and I'm extremely uncomfortable, bad cramping and back aches... I have never had such a heavy flow before.
Avatar f tn With hormonal birth control, the period you get is actually withdrawal bleeding from stopping the hormones, and not a usual period caused by ovulating and getting ready for a baby. That's why periods when you're on birth control tend to be so regular. Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn So I have the 28 day pack of the pill.. I started it two Sundays after my period because I had forgotten. My period was regulate from it. But this time I got my period while I was still taking the pill, and it was almost over. Then I finished the pack and my period became heavy again. So I've had my period for 8 days. Would this have to do with starting the pack late?
Avatar n tn It should not be used as regular contraceptive pill and any other form of birth control pill may be used. It can cause menstrual irregularities or heavy bleeding. The commonest cause of bleeding after intercourse is hormonal imbalance. The two hormones regulating a woman’s cycle are estrogen and progesterone. If they get out of balance, one may have spotting.

Avatar n tn Metformin is not suppose to bring on your period, any chance this is your period and it's just really heavy this month? Are you TTC? If not then maybe your doctor could recommend a birth control pill to help your cycles be regular. Or any chance you could be pregnant? If the bleeding continues, I would consult your gyn and seek their advise.
Avatar f tn I recently stopped taking birth control pills and a day before my period (nov. 6) my head felt heavy so I had associated it with my period. But 3 days after I started to feel pain on the two sides of the back and top of my head, on my forehead, and on my eyebrow area. It would usually occur on one side then they’d alternate. I had already gone to the doctor and was only prescribed pain killers.
1111468 tn?1265721993 The Depo Shot, in my opinon is the worst birth control out there. So many side affects, such as long term bleeding, weight gain plus it stays in your system for up to 1 full year after stopping it. I do not reconmend the depo shot to anybody. If you don't want to take pills, then I sugest an IUD and if you dont want hormones, switch to a Copper IUD.
