The next day he woke up with the same symptoms as the stroke 6 years ago and we assumed he had another stroke. I have read several commments regarding heat stroke/exhaustion. No one has mentioned swelling. If I exert myself when temps are hot and humidity high, my face and ears swell up. They itch and are bright red. The only thing that seems to help is a steroid shot and prednisone pack. My face and ears will peel almost like a sunburn. Does this happen to anyone out there?
If I sweat during the night I will get itchy. Gold Bond medicated powder helps tremendously.
she have been light headed from the heat or she had a slight case of heat stroke 9 not TO serious ). just take her to docter if it continues , and always remember those " time to come inside breaks " to get water and re apply sunscreen. Also make sure she has lots of water even i know some little kids dont like it.
s actually someone like a real stroke but heat stroke or heat exhaustion affects the brain in a different way and the ongoing symptoms are related to the body's reaction to heat or sun. Not everyone experiences ongoing sensitivity, and yours may ease off. But in my case, it was permanent. I remember those two incidents very well to this day, man I was sick (unbelievable). So in a way I am not surprised.
My husband suffered heat exhaustion a few days ago. He ran a fever of 101 all night w/ sweating off and on. Thinking he would be in the a/c he went back to work the next day and had to be outside to fix a part on the equipment he was running which set him off to a severe headache, he quit sweating, dry and hot, his muscles were starting to cramp and he said he felt like he could vomit, but never did. He had all the symptoms of a stroke, but didn't lose consciousness.
I have heard that once a person has had a heat stroke, they can not tolerate the heat anymore. It seems to do something to our body's chemistry.
I have not had a heat stroke, but, I am extremely heat intolerant. I am always hot, and I must be in the A/C or I get short of breath, PVC's and feel horrible. I am even hot in the winter.
One thing besides heat stroke that can cause heat intolerance is an over-active thyroid and also a lack of natural progesterone.
Hi there. The symptoms of dizziness or hypotension, bradycardia and shortness of breath do not make you more prone for a heat stroke. Though you may have dehydration due to heat stroke which can cause dizziness. You need a cardiac assessment for conditions like heart blocks where the heart rate is decreased causing hypotension as a result. Anemia could also be a cause for dizziness and shortness of breath on walking but there should be accompanying tachycardia in that case.
As far as heat stroke is concerned, many of us with autonomic dysfunction have reduced ability to sweat and have heat intolerance. For those with this problem it is easier to get heat stroke. Drinking water, using A/C, using misters and even wearing a cooling vest have been used by some of us.
Have you had a tilt table test? Have you had any heart tests? Are you anemic or have any endocrine problems?
A year ago I believe I suffered some heat exhaustion/stroke and since then, when i start getting hot during activities, i get chills up and down my spine, arms and legs. My calf muscle on my left side will tingle/becomes numb, i get dizzy , my face gets red, i can feel my heart pounding in my head and my breathing is rapid but shallow and i have trouble regulating it for a few minutes. It scares me.
2001-pressure headaches that put me in the hospital w/ MS symptoms. Neuros just gave me meds. 1 doc said I had a stroke, 1 doc diagnosed "Complicated Migraines". 2009 started taking 800mg/ IB 3x/day because I didn't feel "well". Oct. 2011 went in for eyeglasses, Opthmologist said something "didn't look right." after a 2nd look at another Eye Doc, same thing. He referred me to a Neuro.
Anyone else suffering in this heat?? I'm 34 weeks with swolen feet and I'm hoping it's from the weather. Don't have swolen hands or any other symptoms. Should I be concerned?

i would play soccer 3 to 4 times a week in al kinds of weather especially in the heat since i am in Texas. Now if i am in the heat for any longer than 5 minutes i feel shaky and weak. Hard to describe. Basically if its not under 70 degrees i feel like i am gonna have a heat stroke. This goes along with a ton of other things i have been feeling.
I am not trying to scare you but a stroke is rather serious. Do some research and if you think the symptoms match up force her to see a doctor. whether she believes in them or not this could save her from having a more serious stroke, which could do anything from paralyzing one side of the body or even death. I'm sorry to scare or worry. As I said, I may be wrong, this is only a best guess from a college student, who works with children and took a first aid and cpr course.
I'm in limboland, but I've always been heat sensitive. I had heat stroke when I was younger and have had or been on the edge of heat exhaustion quite a few times.
I strongly dislike summer due to the heat. I'm in upstate NY and our summer isn't horrible, but we tend to be humid. And, I can count on at least 2 weeks worth of 90+ heat (over 100 with the heat index).
In the last year, when I'm overheated it seems worse then it used to.
What other symptoms do you have? Some times heat brings on my symptoms at that moment or it will take a few hours and the symptoms and new symptoms appear and last for days. I live on the GA coast and the extreme heat has never slowed me down until this summer when I went into a full relapse mode (and got diagnosed). I think the heat triggered it.
