Avatar f tn I had such bad heartburn with my 1st pregnancy and my son came out looking like a troll doll he had 2 inches of long jet black hair over his whole head and down his neck. We had to trim it at 2 months old because it was going in his eyes.
Avatar n tn Docs are not too happy about most over the counter antacids during pregnancy. My sister swears by Papaya tablets (from the health-food section), all natural and remove heartburn. I've taken them with this pregnancy and they only work if I take them right after a meal. I have sneaked my Mylanta about 4 times in 25 weeks and just haven't fessed up about it to the doctor.
Avatar f tn My Mother-in-law who is a midwife suggested I try papaya enzymes. They're chewable like Tums, but in my experience they work way better, and provide relief for longer. Sleeping propped up on a couple of pillows can make a difference as well, if you are experiencing it in the morning when you wake up. I also carry a package of goldfish crackers with me wherever I go. If I start to notice that acidy/heartburny feeling, sometimes snacking on a few of those will "soak" that feeling up!
Avatar f tn Tums have quit working. I use papaya enzymes and they help a little bit. I have the head of my bed raised 4 inches off the floor. I ear a yogurt every night before i sleep which also helps a tad bit. Over all every night when i lay down i get the worse pain in my throat and chest, im already short of breath and this makes it 10 times worse. Any advice?

The papaya helps your body absorb the nutrients but keepd your body functions moving. My midwife also told me to have 1 oz apple cider vinegar in the morning and one at night and to try and have like 80grams of simply protein every day. It's not a diet if you just want to eat healthy for baby.
Avatar n tn The things I did to hold attacks at bay...I used papaya enzymes with every meal...(Known as papain, chewable tabs that didn't taste too bad..) These are very safe and nontoxic in any amount...There are now "super enzymes" available which are also chewable (helps wonderfully with heartburn too!)...Crystallized ginger...I avoided things that were really greasy, fried chicken with the skin on, bacon, and only ate fries in tiny amounts...
Avatar n tn I do have some reflux still but from what I can tell it is reflux of not everything I eat but the fatty foods like meat,I have pretty much eliminated all meat and dairy everything fatty no oils butter etc. so I am going to try the enzymes.Which do you suggest? I read papaya enzymes were good, have you heard that? Also can I take them with the medicines I am taking like methoclopramide and cimedidine?
Avatar n tn Some other things that I have tried are taking Digestive Papaya Enzymes and they did not make any noticeable difference either. I even ordered Tahitian Noni Juice online and tried drinking that but no difference either. My Mom currently has food intolerance problems herself. She is on a strict gluten free diet. She even had her gallbladder removed but that did not help her our much until she went on the diet. That's about all I can think of for now.
Avatar n tn pylori bacterium, and they can also result from problems that are happening in the esophagus. If you have elevated liver enzymes, what does your doc plan on doing to try to find out what's going on?
Avatar n tn The only thing that has ever helped is taking Papaya Enzymes. I have tried MANY things to get rid of this. My doctor suggested that it sounds like my body is not digesting the food for some reason, so he said to try some Papaya Enzymes to help the digestion process. This DOES help. The only thing is, I want to know: WHAT IN THE WORLD IS CAUSING THIS? I mean, it's obviously not normal. And for me to have it for 16+ years, says to me that it's not going away on it's own. I HATE it.
Avatar n tn Hi, I too have upper right quad pain just below my ribs. I am a male, 46yrs old 6ft and weigh 175 lbs. My pain comes and goes and has for about 6 months. It is not severe pain, but at times is more annoying than anything. It feels like there is something in there pinching me. I went to an internal med MD in July. He ran blood tests that all came back fine. He sent me to have an abdominal ultrasound which showed only "healthy" organs.
Avatar f tn When it first started I was rnauseous almost everyday for about a month. I thought I might have been pregnant, so I took pregnancy test after pregnancy test. My doctor couldn't even figure out what it was! Soon after, I discovered a worm. I absolutely panicked. It took me two weeks to tell my husband, and I got the reaction I thought I was going to get: repulsion.
