Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn left side abdominal pain

heartburn

Avatar m tn It was accompanied by cramping pain on the left side of the abdominal. Each morning I feel a hard bulge along my left rib line when I wake up. It goes away after I have a AM BM. I feel the cramping throughout the day. I also started feeling numbness and tingling sensation in left fingers this week and wonder if this is all connected. I saw my PCP and sent me for ultrasound of the stomach that came back normal only noting a 3MM polyp on gall bladder.
Avatar f tn L knee arthroscopies (dont' remember what years, but was many years ago), ovarian cyst removal prior to hysterectomy (1985). For about the past month or so, I've had intermittent left upper abdominal pain that ranges from a sharp, pinching pain to an aching pain (anywhere from 3-8 on pain scale) I do not have any heartburn with this pain. The area where the pain is located is also sometimes quite tender to the touch. Some intermittent nausea as well - no fever.

Avatar n tn It has been 2 weeks and she is still having the same pain(all over below belly button but, worse on lower left side just like before). The surgeon scheduled us to see another gastroenterologist and he said that if they do a colonoscopy, then they might be able to find the reason she is in pain. Her appt. is next week. The surgeon also prescribed donnatol for her to take once a day. Do you have any suggestions as who else we should be seeing or any other tests to do?
Avatar f tn For about 2 months I have been feeling this dull pain in the left upper side of my abdomen that gets intense at times and it goes to my back, I also feel sometimes nauseated, light headed, heartburn and indigestion (like when food gets stuck in my throat) and headaches. I am not a regular to the bathroom but lately (since the pain started) I'm going to the bathroom more sometimes normal other is like little hard balls.
Avatar m tn The doctors at the clinic performed the hooking maneuver, which caused a lot of pain on the right side, but almost none on the left side. My pain is just below the ribs, on the right side and it refers to the back. The pain is position based, more aggregated when sitting, almost pain free when in bed. There is a condition similar to costochondritis called slipping rib syndrome, which may be what I have.
258127 tn?1223128840 Now, for the last few years, there is a bulging pain I get from time to time directly below my ribcage on my left side (sometimes, it even hurts to touch). It gets worse if I eat anything greasy (like bacon) and I actually get nauseated and sometimes need to vomit to relieve the nausea. Once, I vomited 3 hours after eating, and all the food was still in my stomach. I bounce between contipated and loose(non-watery) stools, but that may be due to the hyperthyroid.
Avatar m tn I'm a 33 year old female who has been having upper left abdominal pain for the past 5 months. It's a burning pain on my left side near my ribs, unlike anything I've felt before. It's oddly worse if I make a sudden movement or stretch. When palipated by a doctor the area is sore. When I initially visited the doctor, they diagnosed me as having acid reflux and prescribed omeprazole.
Avatar n tn Does the endometriosis actually cause you pain in your upper left side or only lower left? To Michaele: I have heard other people (including my chiropractor) comment that gallstones can cause pain on the left side, even though the gallbladder is on the right side. How did they find the gallstones - throught the ultrasound exam?
Avatar f tn I have extreme pain in my left rib, it's been there for like a week now and no matter what I do I can't get comfortable.
222011 tn?1265475648 I have asked my doctor about taking synthroid (I took it years ago and had no side effect). His answer to me was his wife takes it and its ok. I will address the pain with him but I sure don't want to go through any more changes with taking a different medicine. I feel overwhelmed at the different things that still have to be addressed. Do any of you ever feel that way. The worse is over but there are still lots of things to address. Thanks for your help.
1337935 tn?1275849579 Most people when they say stomach mean abdomen. Is the pain on the left or the right side? If the left, a GI specialist should be checking for esophageal, stomach problems, including ulcers and pancreatic issues. If the pain is on the right, they should verify the gallbladder and liver are in excellent working order. They should check your bile duct network to be sure there aren't any stones blocking anywhere in there.
Avatar f tn The doctor changed my medication to omeprazole and gaviscon, my hyperacidity was relieved but still having abdominal pain(more on left side) and gurgling sound on stomach going up to the throat. I’m really anxious because suddenly I can feel my lymph node on right neck just below my jaw, so I went on Internal Medicine, the doctor said the sound was from hyperacidity so he lowered the dose of omeprazole and I will take it until next week and observe for the node for any changes.
332374 tn?1196104885 for a PAP and had some ultrasounds done and I had a cyst on my left ovary, but my pain was on both sides. So my Dr. said that my pain most likely was not being caused by the cyst but by endometriosis. I really think that this might be your problem. My Dr. put me on birth control so I will only have 4 periods a month. I've been on it for a little over 4 months now and since I started taking birth control my pain has stopped! Talk to your Dr. and see if they think this might be possible for you.
Avatar m tn I have been having lower abdominal pain, in the pelvic area, for a few weeks now. It started off as cramping, like period cramps, then started to become burning pain. I was tested for a UTI but it was negative, as well as had a pelvic ultrasound which came back normal. The pelvic ultrasound was extremely painful, I cried, and it caused me more pain..the tech was pressing hard especially on the side, my hip bone, my pelvic bone..and since then I've been having bone pain.
Avatar n tn However 8 years ago I started to have these sever pains with which I used divol that seemed to worked if I popped three in my mouth one time. As of one year ago I got this excruciating pain in the same top right hand side of my stomach which is now a bit tender and puffy. I went to the doctor who give me morphine injections to stop the pain. Sometimes when I vomit it helps sometimes I have to go to ER for the pain injections.
Avatar n tn I'm not on any medication except penicillin which I am taking because I had strep about a week ago. The pain switches from upper left side to about mid left side to middle (belly button area). It's not constant or extreme pain but like an annoying ache or dull pain. I explain it as twitches or twinges of pain. I'm sorry your having problems too but it's comforting to hear that I'm not alone. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but it's not my imagination. I really am having problems.
Avatar m tn I'd have good days and then all of a sudden, pain at 1 am, usually right in the middle of my stomach between navel and breastbone, sometimes a pain towards the left rib, and almost always a dull or burning pain on my right ribs. I also will feel a sense of fullness or pressure on the right side after eating. I started seeing a naturopath and was prescribed a wide variety of supplements and tinctures but continue to have these attacks.
Avatar f tn Never have naseau, vomiting, or diarrhea. The pain starts urq abdomen and center and goes up into my jaw on right side (feels like teeth are hurting). Have this pain an average of 5 times per month. On scale of 1 to 10 its a 12! Lasts for several hours. I have to keep walking when its hurting. Take Levbid, Prilosec. Levbid helps after a hour or two. I hate the side effects (blurred vision is the worst) so I only take it as a last resort.
Avatar n tn Still have the pains on left side too, just not constantly like the right side. I have all kinds of tests run - Upper GI, ab ultrasound, HIDA Scan, CT Scan, colonoscopy, all were normal. My GP now has me on prednisone hoping that it's just musculoskeletal... but the way it sometimes the way the pain intensifies on some days just makes me wonder if there isn't something really going on in there (tumor, etc.) But I guess that would have shown on the tests.
Avatar n tn But I have been experienceing sever pain under my ribcage, going all across the whole thing..left and right side..sometimes it goes up into my chest area. Its very painful and the only way I can explain it is..labor pains in my upper body...that is what it feels like. I cant stand up or lay down..I get on my elbows and knees and there I stay rocking back and forth for hours. It seems to come after I eat beef, or something high in fat, or cucumbers, I havent really pinpointed it down..
Avatar f tn I am a 22 year old female with a history of good health. For the past few weeks, I have experienced severe pain in my lower right pelvic area just above my hip. I consulted my doctor and he ordered a CT scan which showed a 2cm ovarian cyst on the right ovary. I waited until I started my period to see if the cyst would rupture on it's own, as they normally do. The last day of my period was Saturday and on Sunday I started having severe pain just below my ribs on the right side.
Avatar f tn more and more abdominal pains. Complained to dr my left rib cage stuck out more then my left. His response, "our bodies arent perfect. they arent equally matched on both sides." So....i went on about my life. Back and forth to the dr with heartburn. Was put on ranitidine. That became over the counter, so i just picked that up and self medicated myself. O yes, and the chronic diarrhea i deal with when it decides to come on. I finally was sent to a shrink for the pain. Which...
