Heartburn left rib cage

Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn left rib cage

Avatar n tn My husband is suffering from pain below his left rib cage for past few months. This pain starts within half an hour to one hour of meals. Pain is usually more when he has full meals. He has hyper acidity problem for past few years. He usually doesnt have heartburn but this particular pain reduces when he takes antacids. He does not have inflammatory bowels but has soft, mushy and regular b.m. Can anyone help understanding whether he has problem with stomach or problem with colon???
Avatar n tn It might be you were having esophageal spasms brought on by the fatty content of the peanut butter if the pain was on the left (since you mentioned heartburn). Have you ever been assessed by a GI specialist or an ear, nose and throat doctor (if you have throat symptoms) to see if you are having acid reflux)? Fatty foods can trigger a GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) attack.
Avatar n tn Hi, have had pain in right rib cage area, sometimes to the point that it is so severe that I can't move or breath correctly. Feels like a severe charley horse. I thought I might have to call an ambulance. I am 48 years old, non-smoker and in relatively good physical condition. There is a history of gall bladder disease in my family as well as thyroid disease. Last night I had one on my left side, which never happened before.
Avatar n tn I have had so many problems in the last couple months that I really don't know where to start. My latest is a pain in my front upper left side right below my rib cage. It's not constant and it's not a bad pain but just enough to bother me and worry me. I am also having bad lower back pain that comes and goes. I have had changes in bowel movements going back and forth from constipation to loose stools.
Avatar n tn I too have had chronic pain under my right rib cage. My pain radiates up by rib cage to the center and then through to the back and up under the right shoulder blade. I had my gallbladder out 07/23/02. I had pancreatitis at the time and was hospitalized for six days for them to get the pancreatitis under control before they could remove my gallbladder. I have had the pain (to varying degrees) ever since I had the surgery.
Avatar f tn I have now started recently having come of some drugs - with this band under my rib cage and pain down the centre of my rib cage. On listening to some of the comments above, some seem to think it is related to the Gastrointestinal part of the body, which would fit in with my condition, so perhaps this is part of the bowel system. I am due to have a second opinion in the next two weeks so will have this checked out, will come back if I find any information relating to this.
Avatar n tn It is in my lower right side and under my right rib cage. I am going back to the doctor and demanding the run a test to see if I have stones in my bile duct. If you have experienced anything like this or know anything about this matter , please email me at ***@****. Thanks!!
Avatar f tn Ok... I am 41 and have had this stabbing pain under my left rib cage accompanied by burping, mostly at night for about 11 years now. The first time it happened it woke me out of a dead sleep and I thought I was having a heart attack. I went to the emergancy room and they said I had pleurisy. So months would go by and then I'd have another attack and this went on for years until I after taking some ibuprofen I got really bad heartburn.
Avatar n tn I have been having a host of GI problems since January, and now I have this weird squish noise coming out of right below where my left rib cage ends. I'm scheduled for a full colonoscopy AND an endoscopy at the beginning of May. Has anyone ever heard of this? It feels like there's a hallow balloon or something there that makes squishy, farty sound when I push on it or inhale deeply. It doesn't hurt.
Avatar f tn For years now I've had this raised area (I guess you could call it a lump, but it has an odd shape) on the upper part of my left rib cage. It's horizontal, along the length of my ribs, and more than a few inches long, and it just feels like dense tissue (so it has a tiny bit of give, but it's not soft). About 5 years ago I had pain that radiated down my left arm that scared me to the point of thinking I was having a heart attack.
Avatar n tn Hi, for two days now I have a pain under my left rib cage (almost middle). Not sharp pain but pain that is there and would not go away. I use to have that same pain only when I have my period now it seem to be more regular. I also have pain in my left breast and under my arm (kind of bottom of where breast tissues are). I have seem doctors about breat examination but was told that is a tissue problem. I am 40 years of age. Do you think there is a problem where I shoud visit a doctor?
Avatar f tn The pain starts right under the left side of my rib cage and spreads to my upper chest, especially if I lay down. I take 180mg gas-x pills with most meals (doctors orders) and it is not helping. I am also taking 40mg of Nexium which usually works for heartburn for me. I am wondering now if it is even heartburn because I also get severe stabbing kinfelike pains that come and go and the burning never subsides. It is enough to make me want to hurl myself out a window.
Avatar f tn Under my left rib cage there seems to be a small lump and there is tenderness when you start to press in. Afterwards I almost feel a sick feeling to my stomach. I have had an x-ray and the Dr. said that the x-ray showed nothing in that area. I went for a second opinion and he thought it was my gallbladder. I thought that was down in the lower right side but he wanted an ultrasound done and he said that there were a couple of polyps in my gallbladder so he had me get a hydroscan done.
Avatar n tn That episode passed, but since then, I have had a constant burning, throbbing-type feeling under the right side of my rib cage. I have had some heartburn and mild nausea at times too. I know I need to make an appointment with my MD, but was wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone else. I have talked with a few people who have had problems with their gallbladders and consequently had to had it removed.
447063 tn?1316564530 Been to the hospital With Bloating, Sore Stomach, And Severe Stomach Pain Left Side Behind Rib Cage. The only thing that came up was transcending colon left side was slightly swollen. They put me on Flagyl and it didn't work. Dr. said it wasn't Colitis. Did Upper GI didn't see anything, did biopsy and I am waiting on results. Could it be Gastritis? It is a constant pressure under left rib case and the pain is horrible.
1446228 tn?1330972286 OMG...right rib cage is killing me! Baby B has something lodged in there and will NOT move it! It is so bad that it is making me nauseas, like my morning sickness is back! Please God, let me not loose my mind in this last 9 week stretch!
Avatar n tn It sort of moves around depending on how I'm laying, so if I'm on my back it feels like back/kidney pain or if I'm on my sides it mostly shifts to right below my rib cage on both sides. Once I get up and get moving for 10 minutes or so it pretty much goes away. So far I've had an ultrasound on my gall bladder and liver, some X-rays and blood work at the ER, and just Weds. they did a scope. So far they haven't found anything except for a bit of esophagitis.
Avatar n tn About 8 weeks ago I started getting these severe pains in my right side under my rib cage. When I take a deep breath it is like someone is stabbing me. I have no fever and this pain is re-occuring. Some days I am fine, others I can't move. I have been to the emergency room twice. The first time they told me my liver enzymes were real high but there was no sign of pancreatits and they sent me home with pain killers.
Avatar n tn I have been having a lot of pain and discomfort on the upper left side and top of abdomin just below the rib cage. I often feel bloated after a meal, it seems to happen no matter what or how much I eat. It is getting to the point I don't want to eat at all anymore because of the doscomfort. I had chinese food yesterday, followed by extreme pian and discomfort, which I still have today. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Hi...have u been to a dr as of yet?....I would suggest u see ur PCP and then a GI dr if ur symptoms require or indicate a gerd issue. So many condiditons have overlapping symptoms....so go to ur dr and tell him all symptoms u r having...even if it is not as new as the ones mentioned above.
Avatar n tn I have slowly developed an uncomfortable pressure sensation near the bottom of my left rib cage, bordering on mild pain while sitting, driving. I have eratic bowel behavior, which I assume is caused by my consumption of gin. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn I have a large lump on my rib that is right below my left breast. It is not in my breast but below my breast.I had a tumor removed a year ago in my right breast, which was benign, but this is strange. It is very large and very distinctive. Can you have a tumor on your rib and not in your breast that might be Breast cancer and what do you think it can be. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Avatar n tn I have severe sinus infection and am experiencing acid reflux like pain but under my left rib cage that seems to have radiating pain into my back and my chest. Any thoughts...I have had the pain for several days now.
Avatar n tn There is some pain or pressure under my rib cage (in that space in the middle). Mostly, I just wanted to say how greatful I am to have found this forum. Sometines in the wee hours when I'm up worrying---I turn on the computer and read what you all write and I can relax and get some sleep.
1525571 tn?1291528033 I am a 16 year old male, and for the past 4 to 7 years I have been experiencing random pains in my rib area. They are burning-like pains and it is NOT heartburn. they last 5 to 10 seconds at the most and just randomly go away after a few seconds. I have had chest x-rays and countless MRI's and my doctor still can't find anything wrong. Any help?
Avatar f tn I started getting the muscle cramping in my rib cage area, mostly right side now, used to be on the left side lower rib cage are. If I bend down or move certain way and laughing can trigger the episode. It lasts for a minute to two and can be very painful as the muscle spasms and hardens, no matter what I do to stretch out the muscle or move around helps, staying still in certain positions has helped but not all the time .
