At random points through out the day the sharp pain comes on and off on my left side of chest right near my rib cage and also on and off the same pain in between my belly button and sternum. I do suffer from chronic heartburn and indigestion. Any idea what this could be?

i have had the same pain on previous pregnancies too,its babys position pushing and kicking the ribs plus your lungs are and stomach are being pushed up as baby grows so it all adds to the pain...i cant get much relief from it..

My fiance is 22 weeks along and is having bad rib and back pain. She is 4 foot 5, has scoliosis with rods and pins in her back as well as a prosthetic for one of her legs. She is getting bad heartburn causing her to throw up most nights. It started about week 20. Is there anybody that can give me a guide for ways to help relieve any of these problems?

ve thrown up on two occasions in the morning a very bitter green liquid. The last 2 weeks, the heartburn has mostly gone away and I do have an appetite, but now I have really bad nausea right when I wake up and it lasts the entire day (just not as bad as when I first wake up). I've also had looser stools than normal on some days after this started. I've had shingles so I don't know if the dull/burning pain on my right side right under my rib cage is from that or something else.

So my little man insists on putting tons of pressure on my left side/ribs. I try pushing him down but he wont budge lol. I heard that normally boys sit lower in the belly. But I guess not in this case. He causes me so much pain. I can't sit or lay down without being in pain. And on top of that the heart burn and acid reflux doesn't make any of this better. Any advice on what to do.. or do I just stick out the pain?

Hm, "changing position" pain can be from: - costohondritis: inflammation of the "joint" between the rib and the sternum (this would be sensitive to pressure) - broken rib or detached/torn muscle - pleuritis: inflammation/infection of outer lung membrane - pericarditis - spontaneous pneumothorax - aortic aneurysm "After eating" pain may be from - gastric ulcer (reflux) - bloating Have you had some investigation so far?

I have a sharp pain above my rib cage btwn my boobs. Last night I was having bad heartburn. This morning I feel gassy, but do u think the sharp pain is connected to the gas? Im 36weeks nothing Im eating is sitting well. Not sure what to do. Help plz....

im 40 weeks and 2 days pregnant and since last night when i take a deep breath i my chest hurts its more when i sit or lay down when im up and walking it seems fine have any ome experienced this what can it be my ob thinks acid reflux but ive had heartburn and its not that kind of feeling at all

t hurt as bad while I was sitting up as it did when I was lying down. Googled it and it seems to be either heartburn from hell or my rib cage expanding to make room for the baby and organs. Has anyone else experienced this??

Is it possible that you are experiencing indigestion and it is just a coincidence that you are standing a lot? Heartburn and indigestion can give some pretty uncomfortable symptoms if they get bad. I once felt like and elephant was sitting on my chest and I felt like I couldn't breath in, all it was was indigestion. I would mention it at your next appointment and see what your OB says.

Hello, For the past month I have been having various symptoms which include right rib pain under breast (comes and goes) which occassionally radiates to the back, some heartburn and the almost constant need to burp. I burp first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I have never been a burper before (I'm 40) and it's strange that I do now.

m 26 weeks along and have had terrible pain in my right ribs for about 2 weeks now.. pain is both on the front and back of my ribs and makes laying on my right side impossible... anybody else experience this? Is it normal?

If it gets bad while you're laying down (like it does for me), I've learned getting up and walking helps and switching positions helps move baby around a lil bit.

I wouldnt thinj that is heart burn. Heart burn is in the chest/throat. Ur baby may be digging into ur ribs. Look up ways to get the baby to move its position.

Hello Doctor. I'm a 40 year old woman with diverticulosis. it's been about 6 years since I have had an episode with any diverticulitis instances. I had a complete hysterectomy 8 years ago and gall bladder removed 4 years ago. My mother died of carcanoid carcinoma (sp) of the liver that had moved from somewhere else at age 55 (docs couldnt find the origin).

Did it seem to be slightly below your rib cage? And have you had a lot of heartburn, bloating or nausea recently or at the time of the attack?

I have been having the exact same problem, plus pain. When I went to the doctor he said I just had gastritis but the pain still continues. I know this is an old question, but have you found a solution to it yet?!

My gosh its 5 in the morning and I can't sleep because of my heartburn. I took zantac in the after noon yesterday and I didn't take one before I went to bed. But man this is killing me it's horrible. And this baby is so freaking comfortable in my stomach. I feel like she's using my left rib as a blanket. Making mommy in pain.

Thanks. I've had the pain on and off for a year and my 1st Dr checked my gall bladder with two ultrasounds and also did 2 chest xrays. My current Dr just x rayed the ribs. I haven't had an ultrasound or full x ray in about a year. My endoscopy is next week. I read somewhere that sometimes fibromyalgia patients have rib pain and shortness of breath. is this true??

I have extreme pain in my left rib, it's been there for like a week now and no matter what I do I can't get comfortable.

I was told by my doctor that she was just leaning toward constipation, but I would think the pain would be more of my abdomen and not just pain under my rib cage that radiates to my back. I have thought about the pain being caused by appendicitis, because it just feels like something is just going to explode. I have mentioned in a comment to another member that this pain has been since September and my doctor at the VA is making it so hard for me.
