Heartburn and arm pain

Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn and arm pain

heartburn

Avatar f tn This nerve stimulation results most commonly in heartburn, the pain that is characteristic of GERD. Heartburn usually is described as a burning pain in the middle of the chest. It may start high in the abdomen or may extend up into the neck. In some patients, however, the pain may be sharp or pressure-like, rather than burning. Such pain can mimic heart pain (angina). In other patients, the pain may extend to the back.
4536442 tn?1358820448 Yeah I get heartburn and its a different feeling unusually get heartburn in the evenings it just feels like I've pulled a muscle since years ago I strained the right side of my chest, thanks for your comment though :) :)
Avatar m tn Any jaw pain? Left arm pain ? Neck pain? Those are other signs for a heart attack... I know this sounds funny but it sounds like gastritis/indigestion:) He could try to take a prilosec ... or other heartburn indigestion medication :) good luck!
Avatar f tn What type of surgery are you going to have? I disagree with RedStar partially. Acid Reflux can mimic Angina, as it can cause chest pain, but it doesn't cause the left arm and hand pain that Angina causes. I'm a veteran of Angina issues and also have had life-long GERD issues. My sister in law is a Naturopath so I tried the digestive enzyme supplements with great expectations of success, but I crashed and burned, so to speak.

Avatar n tn I have been having a dull aching pain in my chest mainly left side, back pain and some occasional arm pain. I do have GERD and had my gallbladder out in 2003. I saw my doc and she thinks its just a flare up of GERDs but has set me up to have a stress echo. I am driving myself nuts wondering is the heart related, am i ignoring signs of a heart condition. My doc doesnt seem so worried but i have small children and cant help but wonder am i taking the right measures promptly.
Avatar n tn Greetings everybody, I'm a 27 year old male (not overweight, healthy), ever since I could remember back in grade school I would get this sudden sharp pain every once in a while. The pain is in the left chest area (heart area). I've always thought of it as occasional heart burn and for the first time in a while I got it again today. Let me describe today's incident as it is pretty similar to all other incidents I can remember.
Avatar f tn I've been having really bad chest pain all night I can't sleep because of it. It's so hard to breath it feels like a stabbing pain I'm 32+3 weeks I've been trying to wait till my doctors office opens but is getting worst I have never in my life had pain like this and it's starting to scare me. Has anyone else experienced pain like this.
Avatar f tn After I have been sleeping for the night and I wake up, I have chest pain in my sternum area. It hurts when I move my arms to stretch my chest. It hurts when I breath deep breaths. This happens every morning when I wake up. Should I be worried? Is this common? Any possible explanations?
Avatar f tn Anxiety and stress can cause many problems and digestive and heartburn issues can be caused by stress. At the age of 17 I was being treated for a stomach ulcer and put on a bland diet - I had no ulcer - it was stress due to work. I was prescribed with medication to calm my nerves which helped. Even if your husband is at home, the stress will be still inside and he may be very good at concealing how he feels. He still be may be stressed without realising that he is.
Avatar f tn Well, I'll start out saying that I'm only 21, not a smoker, and not obese, so I know it might sound totally silly that I'm getting worried about a heart attack. But, for the last few days, I've been having mild chest pain on and off. A little bit today and especially yesterday, I was having heartburn as well. And just tonight, I swear I'm having this funny feeling in my left arm.
460830 tn?1347219306 I took the Pepto as before, then started thinking maybe heart? And I knew if I took aspirin it would help the arm pain anyway, so I took two. After awhile I took Tums to stop the heartburn. I felt better after awhile. What could it be? Could it actually be heart-related, or is it just that I'm eating greasy food? Also, I do have a PEG tube I've had since surgery in May. I don't use it anymore, just Flush it out every day.
Avatar f tn It's 2am and I'm laying wide awake because my arm and neck are in pain. It seems like every two weeks my back take turns getting pinched nerves causing my arms and neck to be in pain. :( almost like restless leg syndrome just in my arm. It's in my left this time.....I can't lay on my right side because my heartburn really acts up. Haha I feel like a helpless cause. Anyone experiencing this and if so what do you do to help it?
Avatar n tn I get pain under both breast sometimes in the middle of the night on the top of my left breast and the middle of my chest??? weird! Please let me know what this is, thank you. Also i do not feel any dizzy or anything except chest pain and trouble digest food.
Avatar f tn The pain seems to radiate in my arm, and now after a year of this will include the other arm as well. It comes, peaks, then fades. After the pain is gone I have no feeling of heartburn or upset stomach or anything. It is so extremely painful and unpleasant I don't take a second swallow. I have checked every so often to see if it still happens, since it started out of the blue, I have kind of expected it to go away out of the blue.
Avatar f tn Considering the inhaler actually works for you, is indicative of asthma. And having heartburn (GERD) is also a trigger for asthma. For some people GERD will trigger breathing problems, coughing fits etc. If I were you I would certainly followup with your doctor on this one to identify what is causing the problems.
1180004 tn?1264466754 I am 19yrs old going on 20 and my pain started in late March of 2009. I had a weird feeling in my chest and I didnt know what it is so I went to the hospital and they had told me it was nothing just alittle heart burn and they sent me home. Ever since that day its been hurting till today everyday I dont know what it is and I cant afford to see a doctor. I picked up smoking for some weird stupid reason and now trying to quit. I need some one to tell me whats wrong with me please.
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone else experienced arm and leg weakness? I'll be 21 weeks on Saturday and the last couple of weeks I've noticed my arms and legs feel really weak and tired. Its almost like a hungover feeling.
Avatar n tn Currently I have had a sore throat (burning sensation as well as sometimes I feel like I have a lump in my throat) for 3 weeks, and sharp pains in my neck leading to my ears, and on occasion a little pain in my arm pits. I had an endoscopy of my throat and it showed nothing for esophogitis.
4001578 tn?1353606689 These conditions cause pain, burning and discomfort in the chest that can radiate to the back and shoulder blades. Fever is the body’s defense mechanism against any infection in the body. Headaches and insomnia could be due to stress, anxiety or depression. Get yourself evaluated by a physician. A complete clinical examination and investigations like CBC, ultrasound abdomen may help. Keep us updated. Best of luck and regards!
1281887 tn?1288921108 okay, my problem is not heartburn, i looked it up and heartburn u feel the pain in your chest and throat i never had that problem so it isn't that...
Avatar n tn since then the pain still comes and goes..sometime pretty bad in the right shoulder blade spreading under my right arm and under my ribcage. basically the whole right side of my chest and back. a couple times after going to bed I have awoke to severe pain in my chest. I was even considering a trip to the ER to rule out my heart but after taking tums and walking the floor for about an hour, it subsided and was able to return to sleep.
Avatar f tn Its'' good to know that all the testing they've done has come back "normal", although it makes it more frustrating for us as patients because we know that something is not right. If it were me, my next step would be to request a HIDA scan to check the gall bladder. This type of test is similar to an x-ray or CT scan. They will inject a small amount of a radioactive material into your arm before the test which they then track as it goes through your digestive tract.

409410 tn?1251072712 I have esophagitis and get left side chest pain, shoulder pain and sometimes back and arm pain. I have had an echo, EKG, cardiac enzymes, Chest X-ray etc. All they have found is the espohagitis. At least that has been my experience. I, too, never have any heartburn.
