Avatar n tn He can read, count in English and Spanish, and has very good verbal skills. However, he zones out when in big groups (school and sports). His teacher says he zones out and does not respond to commands when they have rug time. When they go back to their small groups, he is tuned in and proves that he learned what he says. He can also follow commands well when spoken to directly.
Avatar m tn s has a good book, Heart Zone Training. It gives specific heart training zones to improve cardiovascular fitness. I take a medication to lower my heart rate. However, it would be preferred to lower heart rate through exercise, as side effects of mediation I do not care for. Also, continual stress may raise heart rate (Type A personality). May learn some relaxation techniques.
Avatar m tn The heart size is normal. Mediastinal and hilar contours are approximately as expected except that there is relatively increased density over an about 2.1 x 2.7 cm zone projected at the right hilum for the PA radiograph. There is a calcified right lateral superior lung zone region 0.6 x 0.9 cm subpleural nodule. There are fine fibronodular densities in both apical most lung zones and slight coarsening of the right suprahilar interstitial markings. A very dense ovoid 0.5 x 0.
Avatar n tn Contraceptive hormones can be a cause of absent menses. Weight changes, changes in exercise pattern, travel accross time zones, and stress (new home, new job) can all contribute to "secondary amenorrhea" (cessation of menstrual flow). Hormonal issues include thyroid disorders, prolactin disorders, and androgen disorders. If menses are absent for 3 months and pregnancy test is negative, a test of the hormone environment with progesterone or Provera is the usual next step.

Avatar n tn I have been reading about heart palpitations (skipped heart beats) and have some questions. I have been "spinning" now for about 7 years. I normally work out in the 80% zone for strenth training 3-4 times a week. At times I'll take a month off and hit the lower zones around 70% mhr. About a week in the lower zone and my heart starts this non sense.
Avatar n tn From there you figure different heart zones to work in. 70-80% they say is where you achieve good aerobic fitness. I take medication to slow my heart, as I have been diagnosed with inappropriate sinus tachycardia. However, I am still able to achieve HR in 70-90% of my target heart rate. However, I only spend a little time in upper ranges. I base my workouts on how my BP is doing. If i do overexert, too much time at upper ends, it can drive my HR up.
Avatar n tn Had meeting with education people. Realizing struggle to achieve what I'd like too. Feel tired and heart annoying.
Avatar n tn I purchased a heart rate monitor to keep track of my target heart rate and have quickly noticed my heart rate is quite fast. My resting heart rate is 84 bpm. This was taken this morning when I woke up and was still lying in bed. A few days ago when I was working out I checked my heart rate and it was pretty steady at about 155 bpm. At one point when I increased the speed and incline of the treadmill, it peaked at about 180 bpm.
Avatar n tn If it is still high, I would say take a day off or less strenuous workout, walking. Try Heart Zones Training.
Avatar m tn Your heart rate should recover quicker than it sounds like it is. May want to look into Heart Zones training. Sally Edwards has a good book on this. Basically, she divides your heart training rate into 5 zones and most aerobic benefits are found in zone 3, 70-80% of your target heart rate. 80-90% should be used if you are in good shape. This does seem to be helping me with my exercise and I have seen some improvement in heart rate and blood pressures using this system.

1211508 tn?1343079605 So it's a classic catch 22--exercise is more likely to give you a heart attack in that moment than say resting, but of course if we just rest forever we are more likely to get a heart attack in the long run, right? But we should probably still exercise, I trust. But should we dial the exercises down & work at "safer" HRs? I've been really getting into cycling this summer.
1556526 tn?1299298941 chest pain, what if thinking, feel like im dying, heart flutters, mind that wont stop spinning, thoughts of worse case scenario, constant worry and fear. my dr prescribed me 1/2 to 1 ativan 2x a day when needed but dont seem to help i dont want something that zones me out or takes months to work and the less side effects the better any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I am using a Polar heard monitor while on the treadmill. Should I base my numbers (target heart zones) when I have taken Lopressor or should I be working out BEFORE I take the Lopressor??? As one would expect I must work much harder to get into the "zone" when on the Lopressor then when I have NOT taken one. Thank you for any help you can provide on this.
Avatar n tn Usually, we have no explanation such as illness, travel across time zones, personal stresses such as job change, household move, weight change. There is increased likelihood that a woman will skip periods, randomly, as the years advance: age 35 forward begins the time when gynecologists expect women to develop more cycle irregularity.

1310633 tn?1430224091 gun-free zones. Are gun-free zones truly safe from guns? John Lott, economist and gun-rights advocate, has extensively studied mass shootings and reports that, with just one exception, the attack on U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Arizona, in 2011, every public shooting since 1950 in the U.S. in which more than three people have been killed has taken place where citizens are not allowed to carry guns.
Avatar m tn Part of the problems we are having in this country, I believe, stems from the formal education we have, or don't have. Basically the public education system we have has not changed over the last century, so what changes would you make if you could and if added cost is involved how would you pay for it.
