Avatar n tn Check out Sally Edwards Heart Zones Training, it has a lot of information. They say that by spending more time in 70-80%, can achieve good results. Sounds like you may be going too high. Perhaps check you BP once in awhile, to see if you are indeed exercising correctly. Also, check resting pulse rate, as high HR may indicate overtraining. Hope this helps and I'm sure someone else on this forum can give you some good or better information.
Avatar m tn Your heart rate should recover quicker than it sounds like it is. May want to look into Heart Zones training. Sally Edwards has a good book on this. Basically, she divides your heart training rate into 5 zones and most aerobic benefits are found in zone 3, 70-80% of your target heart rate. 80-90% should be used if you are in good shape. This does seem to be helping me with my exercise and I have seen some improvement in heart rate and blood pressures using this system.
Avatar n tn I have also purchased a heart rate monitor and use this to monitor my heart rate. A good way to figure your target heart rate (THR) is 220- your age. This would equal 190. This is your maximum THR and should only be reached on occasion and should not be used for training purposes (in other words sustaining your heart rate at this rate for a prolonged period of time). You may look into purchasing Sally Edwards' book Heart Zones- Heart Rate Monitor Guidebook. They have it on Amazon.
Avatar m tn Could she be overtraining a bit? Sounds like she is very active. Does she take some recovery time? I have mentioned this on this site before, but may look into Heart Zone training. Sally Edward's has a good book, Heart Zone Training. It gives specific heart training zones to improve cardiovascular fitness. I take a medication to lower my heart rate. However, it would be preferred to lower heart rate through exercise, as side effects of mediation I do not care for.
952618 tn?1246287513 I got a Star Edwards Heart Valve in 1977. Now I have to undergo a magnetic resonance tomography of my right ear. Is this possible with this aortic Star Edwards Valve?
Avatar n tn m on Atenolol, a beta blocker, and believe me I would much rather to have lowered my heart rate by exercising. However, no one ever told me this. Check out Sally Edward's book, Heart Zones Training, to give more info on this. Can find at amazon. Best wishes with this.
Avatar n tn Basically, she breaks up your heart rate into 5 zones. Zone 3 is 70-80% of your target heart rate and results in increased aerobic and cardiovascular fitness. Sounds like you are training in high Zone 4 or even Zone 5. This level is for elite athletes and should only be visited for short periods by normal folk. You may want to spend more time doing light cardio. I agree with greendave, as a lot of us go full out and end up sustaining an injury or something worse.
Avatar f tn But a remarkable event occurred on the rainy street in front of Elizabeth Edwards’ funeral services, orchestrated by the Facebook group, called “Protect Elizabeth Edwards’ funeral from Westboro clan.” An estimated 300 people answered the call to provide a “human buffer” of love to counter the hate of Fred Phelps’ Westboro group.
Avatar m tn HR may be elevated due to injury and being out of shape. You said you had gained a few pounds recently. Perhaps a good goal would be to get back into shape. A good resting heart rate, I would say, would be below 80 bpm. Probably better to be below 75. If you are fit, even lower (not below say 50, unless you are an elite athlete). The best way to lower heart rate is exercise, cardiovascular. You may think about starting a walking program (30-45 minutes most days of the week).
Avatar m tn Keep a log or if you buy a better one that feeds into your computer keep the records then if you feel something is wrong you will have recorded data that you can review with your Dr when seeking resolution There are also several good books out thereon utilizing a HRM Sally Edwards is just one of the authors.

1358167 tn?1279374463 To elaborate on what Clysta Said. Trisomy 21 which is Down Syndrome isn't normally fatal and DS children can lead very full lives. Trisomy 18 which is Edwards Syndrom on the other hand is fatal. Most babies don't make it to birth, those who do only live a few hours and RARELY a baby with edwards syndrome can live up to a year.
Avatar f tn So I was told by my Dr that I could take this test to determine if my baby has a number of syndromes. It's optional. It also can tell you the sex of your baby. My question is has anyone here had that done and is it something your insurance covers or do you pay out of pocket?
541953 tn?1262586226 OK, I was watching John Edwards and wanted to see if other people believe in the afterlife and you could hear from people who have passed on...I would love to talk to my father, grandson, grandparents... so what do you think? do you think John Edwards is real or a fake? do you think he can talk to the dead? or that the dead can even send messages back to us? I believe in him and believe they can send messages back...I've talk to my dad in dreams before all night...so what do you think?

Avatar f tn Hi guys I lost a baby girl two years ago to what they thought was edwards. I had to deliver at 22 weeks due to so many abnormalities but when placenta was tested she didnt have edwards just so many things wrong.
Avatar m tn In December last year my wife was in hospital receiving surgery for a cancer (VIN) and while there her heart rate fell through the floor. An echocardiogram was done and showed an EF of 30-35%. In March this year another echo had an EF of 50% (marked increase) however the third one done last week came in at 40% which shows a decline again. The reason why escapes us. My wife (Sally) is on Dilatrend and Adacand.
541953 tn?1262586226 OK everyone seems to want to talk about the other John Edwards... Correct me if I am wrong but did he not just admit to having a affair while his wife was battling cancer and produced a child of this affair that he denied for years? right John Edwards or am I running up the wrong tree here? I will be interested to know if I am correct or not and what the story is...ok guy let it rip....
231441 tn?1333892766 Get a physical with a reputable doc who should check you for cardio-vascular problems as well as sensitivity to aspartame (a.k.a. "nutrasweet"). These are migranes -- it's important to determine what is causing them. In my own case, I get these exact type of migrane if I ingest aspartame. And, the only other time I had them was as a teenager (before aspartame even existed). That turned out to be cardio-vascular caused by a previously undetected atrial-septal defect.
Avatar m tn Many of us can have heart rate zones where premature beats (in young people usually PACs - extra beats from the upper heart chambers) occur. They can have many causes, and adrenaline excess is the most common. If we start to worry about the heart rhythm during exercise, it can get a lot worse. From what I've heard (and unfortunately experienced myself from time to time) it usually happens in the beginning of exercise, or in the heart rate zones 130-160 bpm.
