Avatar n tn Check out Sally Edwards Heart Zones Training, it has a lot of information. They say that by spending more time in 70-80%, can achieve good results. Sounds like you may be going too high. Perhaps check you BP once in awhile, to see if you are indeed exercising correctly. Also, check resting pulse rate, as high HR may indicate overtraining. Hope this helps and I'm sure someone else on this forum can give you some good or better information.
Avatar n tn However, now I have found Heart Zone training (look into this, a book by Sally Edwards). It breaks up heart rates into 5 zones. Zone 3 (70-80% of your target heart rate) will give you improvements in cardio fitness and help to lower your heart rate. Get a heart rate monitor to follow heart rate. When I used to work out, I was in Zone 4 and even 5 too often and overtrained. This Heart Zone training has helped me out in lowering my blood pressure and keeping an eye on my pulse rate.
Avatar m tn Your heart rate should recover quicker than it sounds like it is. May want to look into Heart Zones training. Sally Edwards has a good book on this. Basically, she divides your heart training rate into 5 zones and most aerobic benefits are found in zone 3, 70-80% of your target heart rate. 80-90% should be used if you are in good shape. This does seem to be helping me with my exercise and I have seen some improvement in heart rate and blood pressures using this system.
Avatar n tn I have also purchased a heart rate monitor and use this to monitor my heart rate. A good way to figure your target heart rate (THR) is 220- your age. This would equal 190. This is your maximum THR and should only be reached on occasion and should not be used for training purposes (in other words sustaining your heart rate at this rate for a prolonged period of time). You may look into purchasing Sally Edwards' book Heart Zones- Heart Rate Monitor Guidebook. They have it on Amazon.
Avatar m tn Could she be overtraining a bit? Sounds like she is very active. Does she take some recovery time? I have mentioned this on this site before, but may look into Heart Zone training. Sally Edward's has a good book, Heart Zone Training. It gives specific heart training zones to improve cardiovascular fitness. I take a medication to lower my heart rate. However, it would be preferred to lower heart rate through exercise, as side effects of mediation I do not care for.

Avatar n tn Everytime I click on post i get this message stating that the maximum postings have been acheived and they open it up for later time zones. Somebody needs to tell the good doctors that there are 7 times zones in the USA. And other than sitting at a PC from 8am to 5PM in all of the time zones one is SOL, one may never get to post. It's the middle of the night right now for me.
Avatar f tn But a remarkable event occurred on the rainy street in front of Elizabeth Edwards’ funeral services, orchestrated by the Facebook group, called “Protect Elizabeth Edwards’ funeral from Westboro clan.” An estimated 300 people answered the call to provide a “human buffer” of love to counter the hate of Fred Phelps’ Westboro group.
Avatar n tn Basically, she breaks up your heart rate into 5 zones. Zone 3 is 70-80% of your target heart rate and results in increased aerobic and cardiovascular fitness. Sounds like you are training in high Zone 4 or even Zone 5. This level is for elite athletes and should only be visited for short periods by normal folk. You may want to spend more time doing light cardio. I agree with greendave, as a lot of us go full out and end up sustaining an injury or something worse.
Avatar n tn Hello! I'm 31 and currently 17+1 weeks pregnant. I got pregnant thanks to IVF. The triple-screen done at 16th week of pregnancy showed lower levels of hcg, but due to IVF incorrect dating of the preganancy can be excluded. The test placed me a low risk for trisomies 13, 21 and 18 and neural tube defects. However, I got recommendation for detailed ultrasound screening to search for the signs of Edwards syndrome.
Avatar m tn HR may be elevated due to injury and being out of shape. You said you had gained a few pounds recently. Perhaps a good goal would be to get back into shape. A good resting heart rate, I would say, would be below 80 bpm. Probably better to be below 75. If you are fit, even lower (not below say 50, unless you are an elite athlete). The best way to lower heart rate is exercise, cardiovascular. You may think about starting a walking program (30-45 minutes most days of the week).
Avatar n tn Are we playing russian roulette by not getting that Star Edwards out of her? Does it really buy her anti coagulation hope by putting a St Jude in her? THe research I'm reading suggests that this valve (St Jude) is less succeptible to clotting. can you please provide your wisdom. Thank you so much Follow Ups: Re: Would you replace a Star Edwards 1260 valve that is perfectly fine, but......?
1310633 tn?1430224091 With his adult daughter, Cate, and his parents listening in a Greensboro, North Carolina, courtroom, Edwards looked upset by some of the testimony, at one point covering his face with his hand and later shaking his head. Reynolds said Edwards' staff had been warned the tabloid article might be coming and discussed having Hunter issue a denial.
