Avatar n tn there ae a number of reasons that people suffer heart attack -high blood pressure being one of them- people can have other risk factors like high cholestorol ,,family history ,previous heart attack or stroke ,diabetes ,underlying heart condition
Avatar f tn m not crazy about the idea of needing some foreign thing in my body to keep my heart going properly, but I guess it beats the alternative. Am I at risk for stroke or heart attack? Do you think pacemaker is the best way to go? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Stroke is caused by the same mechanism as a heart attack but is due to a lack of blood to the brain. By reducing your risk for heart attack you also reduce your risk for stroke. Take care of yourself and happy walking ^_^. Information provided here is for education only. It is not intended to replace your doctors care. Avatar n tn First of all, keep in mind that I am unable to diagnose you because I am unable to examine you, this forum is for educational purposes. There are a number of EKG changes that can be associated with strokes, both as effects of the stroke and changes that are associated with causing stroke. The brain is involved regulating the heart rate by sympathetic and parasympathetic (autonomic) control.

17567 tn?1276202029 So, awhile back I started getting left arm pain, which is generally a wake up sound for a heart attack? Rather than ignore it and hope it goes away I actually did something about it... and went to a cardiologist. After a few tests he tells me my heart is fine but by cholesterol is very high (260) and puts me on lipitor. Cardiologists are very big on driving blood pressure and cholesterol down towards zero needless to say.
378425 tn?1305628294 I am really worried and tired no sleep last night, My mum was life flighted out she has had a heart attack...My emotions of late have been so much of a roller coaster ride. I came on here to write and I am just so tired I cannot seem to concentrate.
967168 tn?1477584489 maybe maybe not? I know how quirky EKG/ECG machines are so I'm really hoping this time it's a false reading. My Primary found a new murmur and I've been so sick for about 5-6 months; not feeling right, more winded than normal, major headaches, different types of chest pain than before and ALOT more fainting spells even with my ICD.
Avatar f tn I think my husband had a mild heart attack early this morning (4 a.m.?). He had all the symptoms as I looked them up. He refused me to call 911 saying he thought he was ok. By 5:30 he felt well enough to rest, and sleep until 7. At 7 he said his chest was still hurting, but it was not a heart attack. He got dressed and left for work, saying he had a busy day and could not call in sick. I am freaking out b/c everything I read says you need treatment within 24 hours.
Avatar m tn I thought I had a mild heart attack after bending down to get kitty toys off floor. First felt nausea, pain in jaw. Heart thomping so bad that I had to lay down and not move. I also took aspirin.
Avatar f tn It may not have been a heart attack, but it could have been an insufficient supply of blood to heart cells with exertion of going up a stairway. Sometimes that can cause heart cell damage so you should see a doctor to have an exam to rule out out anthing serious which appears you have already done. It is difficult to know whether you should wait or have an immediate evaluation...I would call the dotor's office and ask for advice.
Avatar f tn She has a DNR, but it did not need to be activated because her body has kept her alive. She also suffered a heart attack as a result of the stroke. The stroke was in her left brain and there was some bleeding. She has lost most of the control on her right side and has no speech. The PCP at the hospital recommended an acute care facility vs. nursing home, but she remains very tired and cannot complete the 3 hours of therapy required a day.
Avatar n tn Either way, one of the first things that should be excluded if the history is fitting is a TIA, or transient ischemic attack, due to reduced blood flow to a part of the brain, whatever be the cause (whether from a narrowed artery in the neck or head, reduced blood flow due to changes in blood pressure or abnormal heart rhythm, or a clot coming from the heart).
2175879 tn?1338355028 My MRI results came in. This time my neurologist actually found proof that I had a stroke. First they thought it was a TIA, then an ear ache, and then I kinda forced the issue, they did another MRI and actually found a small "disruption" on my right side of my brain. I can't tell you how relieved that makes me.
Avatar n tn I would strongly recommend you have the LDL lowered to about 100 as there is firm data that this can lower your heart attack and stroke risk.
Avatar n tn can a echocardiogram with bubbles cause a stroke or heart attack?
Avatar f tn I am on Plavix for my Heart Attack and my husband is on Coumadin for a blood clot he had 3 years ago 1 month after he had broken his ankle and had to have surgery. I say he should be off the Coumadin already. He went back to work full time after the broken ankle and also lost 60 lbs. He says the Plavix is just as bad.
Avatar n tn Doctor said it was a stroke and heart attack. However immediately after the stroke she started to complain about pain in left arm. When we looked at the arm, 80% of the arm was purple- black color. However it starts to lose the color now and it is more pink. Anyway she is under medication and she sleeps all the time. We feed her and she used to eat pretty well. However starting with yesterday she can't really swallow. Also she has Alzheimer. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Those who received stents did not show a reduction the risk of heart attack, hospitalization for acute coronary syndrome, or the composite of heart attack, stroke and death, but they did have a greater reduction in chest pain than those who received medical therapy alone".

764912 tn?1322711843 Any suggestions? I am almost 47....my Mother, her brother both died by 47 of heart attack and stroke. Her Father had his first heart attack in his 20's and was disabled thereafter. My brother is 4 years older and has had 3 heart attacks and 1 stroke. I have had a small stroke. My father had bypass in his late 60's. No one is alive on my mothers side now, all having died of Heart attack or stroke. Blood tests show I am at high risk. My cholesterol is high.
1160520 tn?1402981076 Anxiety attack with heart palpitations on and off most of the day, had to try to sleep to relax and calm my heart down otherwise I would of had a heart attack - that's how severe my attacks/episodes are.
915775 tn?1243249930 You push a button and it records your heart and you can send it directly to someone who can tell you whether or not the heart rate was anything to worry about. This could help them know if you are truly just having a panic attack, or if your heart rate is too fast, or abnormal. I have an anxiety disorder. I have for several years, but I never had a panic attack until one day when my heart started racing really fast and i fainted. I have had anxiety ever since.
