Heart stroke systems

Common Questions and Answers about Heart stroke systems

Avatar m tn This happens by a system of vasodilation and vasoconstriction coupled with the pumping rate and stroke volume of the heart. Rather than make frequent changes in volume, the body changes the configuration of the total container (all the vessels) and increases the speed at which the resource is renewed.
Avatar n tn Types of stroke Most strokes occur when a blood clot blocks one of the arteries (blood vessels) that carries blood to the brain. This type of stroke is called an ischaemic stroke. Transient ischaemic attack (TIA) is a short-term stroke that lasts for less than 24 hours. The oxygen supply to the brain is restored quickly, and symptoms of the stroke disappear completely. A transient stroke needs prompt medical attention as it is a warning of serious risk of a major stroke.
Avatar n tn No i dont worry about road accidents or even things like Heart Attacks or even death.
Avatar f tn When you increase your muscle action, your heart beats faster and harder to send oxygen to your cells, ejecting a greater volume of blood with each stroke. High environmental temperatures during exercise can increases your heart rate above normal levels because your heart has to send blood to your skin to cool you down while continuing to supply blood to your working muscles. These two demands force your heart to beat faster.
443862 tn?1238003039 First off let me say that my doctor has checked my heart and it is fine. Does any one have a really loud pounding heart and what do you do about it? My heart rate is anywhere form 80-90 so the doc says that's fine. I will also post this question in the thyroid forum as I have an overactive thyroid that could cause this and in the heart disease forum as it's possible the heart med (Metorprolol since March) that I'm on is causing this. I am looking for techniques to learn to ignore this....
Avatar m tn the heart is stretching/thinning to achieve a higher stroke volume as it becomes harder to meet oxygen demand, which will eventually lead to enough wall thinning and stress (via volume overload and increased filling pressures) that it leads to systolic deterioration....
Avatar n tn As for the BP in general, in the old days when I grew up I hardly ever heard of somebody having a heart attack or stroke, and when somebody did it was very big news. Now a days with all the meds for BP you hear so often of heart attacks and strokes its not very big news anymore because it happens so often.
Avatar m tn He's been having problems with his heart rhythm for at least a few years, but it's been much worse for about the last 6 months. Sometimes he seems to have a fast heartbeat when he's totally at rest and the rhythm can also be irregular. Lately he's also had a few shortness of breath episodes. A few weeks ago I convinced him to stop drinking coffee, stop using Rogaine, and cut back on alcohol. He says he feels way better, but he did have a bout of these symptoms a few days ago.
1059090 tn?1254470401 hi everyone, ive been having heart problems recently, the beat is slow then speeds up, my blood pressure ends up being 204/110, went to hospital, was sent home, now awaiting a 24hr heart moniter, i get so lightheaded, and weak, heavy, if i take a step of stand, or even roll over in bed, it becomes hard to breath, I have had this alot, but had never had a BP, or heart listened to while it happened, i dont normally go to doc, but i felt so bad, i decided i should go, which i found interesting a
580765 tn?1274922960 I too have had a mini stroke and a heart attack. I have had heart palpitations/fluttering for 40 years+ and now can relate it to this gene. The doctors originally thought it was because of Hashimotos but that came about they believe because of the MTHFR effects on so many systems in the body that don't function well if you are not getting what you need for them....When you have too much Homocystine, a folate problem (not helped by the standard American diet) and the foods available to you...
214864 tn?1229718839 2, 2007) — Older women who experience at least one full-blown panic attack may have an increased risk of having a heart attack or stroke and an increased risk of death in the next five years, according to a new report. Avatar n tn When stress, like exercise, increases the heart rate, it makes you a higher risk for stroke and heart attack in this profession. Since the stress levels suffered by EMTs in emergency situations, your heart rate may prevent you from getting and keeping a job. Alot of time exercises that are aerobic bring down the heart rate. Biking, swimming, low impact aerobics and power walking are good exercises that will give you a good workout without raising your heart rate too high.
Avatar f tn Me and my family have no experience dealing with stroke patients. My grandpa had stroke only a couple of weeks ago. He's now still in the hospital to be treated for his pneumonia. I'm now sleeping with him at the hospital because I can't bear the feeling of leaving him in the hospital. He's sleeping most of the time, and can't even begin any form of therapy because he sleeps even when standing up. Is that normal?
369861 tn?1306279286 After leaving the hospital, I visit my cardiologist that performed serious of test, ultrasound, echo, etc.... He said my heart was in perfect working condition, I had a heart of an athelete, my heart was norml size. So lack of salt/potassium caused my heart to overwork, I didn't have congestive heart failure. Relax, try not to worry, I'm sure answers will come to you soon. Good luck !!
Avatar n tn I am also an RN who has practiced in the acute care cardiology field and learned that many people who have frequent palpitation just have very sensitive electrical systems or extra nerve pathways in their hearts and position changes put pressure on different parts of the heart muscle where the nerve systems are and cause the palpitations. Anyway..just thought I'd share my own experiences.
Avatar m tn Possibly the most common cause is because of annoyance, even though folks seem to neglect to do the easy things that it requires to prevent heart attack and stroke for several reasons. Perform not need to be troubled for taking any more time from our working day than we will need to.
Avatar m tn I have ADD and wanted to try something more natural vs taking ADD medication, this turned out to be a very bad idea. I was taking a combination of drugs for 2 weeks with no heart related issues however when I added what is known as Piracetam is caused very bad prolonged heart palpitations for 8+ hours.
Avatar m tn Outpatient therapy involves selecting medicines with alot of contraindications, and constant follow up and adjustments and like the interventional procedures comes with mixed success at best. The arrhythmia is associated with stroke, heart failure, hemodynamic instability and av nodal failure. So it had to be addressed. But yeah, its dangerous and stubborn as can be. Fortunately the field of cardiology is up to the challenge and they can and will get it under control.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me if these are systems of a minor stroke or not. There has been alot of stress with the home and I don't know what to do. Can somebody please help me. I just turned 37. Isn't that a little young for a stroke? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn occasional flip-flopping feeling which knocked the wind out of me but only happened maybe a few times a year, and a sort of flip-flopping or difficulty beating when lying down on my left side (sometimes, not every time I lay this way - started around age 13).
469720 tn?1388149949 html Still, up to 20% of patients may have poorly controlled blood pressure despite being on three agents at maximally tolerated dosages, one of which is a diuretic. In this group of patients, the risk of heart attack, heart failure, stroke and renal failure are up to 3 times greater. Renal artery sympathetic ablation or renal denervation, represents a technology with potential benefit to better control blood pressures in this challenging group.
5466288 tn?1410488785 I was taken by ambulance to the ER.Every test done to check blood sugar, the heart, and for possible stroke, turned out normal. So I was diagnosed with vertigo, given a prescription for Antivert and rehydrated by IV since I was a little dehydrated.I forgot to mention that my blood pressure was VERY HIGH,although just two weeks prior it was very good.My question is could I have had some sort of seizure while sleeping, that left me with the vertigo and HBP? FYI,I have grand mal epilepsy.
Avatar n tn -what is more likely with these symptoms - stroke or heart-attack? -and because i couldn't find information - after a heart-attack can a person serve himself? -any best or worst scenario here? P.S. I know your information will be just speculations over the info provided, but i'd like to hear a medic's speculations over the case, not just mine.
Avatar m tn They are cardiac output, peripheral resistance (degree of constriction would influence diastolic pressure) and stroke volume of blood. The contribution of the heart to the regulation of blood pressure is through changes in cardiac output. Cardiac output is defined as the product of heart rate and stroke volume. Either can be modified by climatic forces.
Avatar n tn I need help for my brother. He is 52 and has a history of heart problems - will need a bypass in the future. On several meds, cholest, blood thinners, etc. but last Wed he woke up and said his vision in his right eye was grey - could only see a little light thru it and his shadow of his hand.
