Avatar n tn If so, what kind of heart problems. Can muscoskeletal problems be a contributing factor for stroke? Can muscoskeletal skeletal problems cause Atrial Fib.? Can muscoskeletal problems cause tachicardia? If muscoskeletal problems can not be surgically treated, are there other treatments that could be used preventatively to prevent any of the above? Thank you! ======================================================================== Thankd for the question Cindy.
Avatar m tn This happens by a system of vasodilation and vasoconstriction coupled with the pumping rate and stroke volume of the heart. Rather than make frequent changes in volume, the body changes the configuration of the total container (all the vessels) and increases the speed at which the resource is renewed.

5466288 tn?1410485185 I was taken by ambulance to the ER.Every test done to check blood sugar, the heart, and for possible stroke, turned out normal. So I was diagnosed with vertigo, given a prescription for Antivert and rehydrated by IV since I was a little dehydrated.I forgot to mention that my blood pressure was VERY HIGH,although just two weeks prior it was very good.My question is could I have had some sort of seizure while sleeping, that left me with the vertigo and HBP? FYI,I have grand mal epilepsy.
Avatar m tn It turned out that my father, grandfather and most of my aunts, uncles, and cousins were being treated for HBP. My father was diagnosed at 30 after he had a mini-stroke and one of my uncles was diagnosed before he turned 21, so I know its hereditary. I've done some cursory research and found that HBP can be caused by a heart valve problem, hyperthyroidism (I don't have), or arterial stiffness.
Avatar n tn I am 76 years old and two years ago I was treated for having a stroke. The funny thing is, no one outright said it was a stroke. After reading an article in the local newspaper, I'm wondering if ingredients in the Nyquil cough syrup lead me to have stroke-like systems. I'm still suffering, but I'm not convinced it was a stroke. I need direction on where to go from here since I strongly suspect that that these four ingredients were/are a culprit of my state of being.
Avatar n tn My mother suffered a cardiac arrest due to loss of airway after extubation following open heart surgery. The nurses noted the loss of airway and were bagging her before she coded. She was not "down" more than 2-3 minutes. All systems returned qucikly. Doctors expected her to clear because they did not think there should be anoxic damage as she was not down very long and had been getting respiratory support.

2175879 tn?1338355028 My MRI results came in. This time my neurologist actually found proof that I had a stroke. First they thought it was a TIA, then an ear ache, and then I kinda forced the issue, they did another MRI and actually found a small "disruption" on my right side of my brain. I can't tell you how relieved that makes me.
Avatar n tn She would require intensive physical therapy and conscious attempt to activity. The rest of the stroke patients suffer some permanent disability. there is a scoring systems to predict the severity and outcome of the stroke by scoring 11 factors including the level of consciousness, visual fields, inability to articulate etc. You need to discuss her current health condition with her intensivist. Hope this helps and take care.

He had flu-like systems for about 5 days prior this emergency, but was otherwise healthy with no pre-existing health problems. He has now been in CCU for 5 days (but stableizing). Avatar f tn One year ago, I had a left occipital stroke which caused minimal damage to my right eye, but no other typical systems that a stroke usually causes. The Doctors put me on 75 mg of Plavix. My sister who has studied nutrition for 40 years, says that I can be weened off the Plavix with a Vitamin K complex and a healthy all organic diet consisting of much leafy greens and very little meat. I have lost 9 lbs with about 10 lbs to go, quit smoking, and my blood pressure is steadily coming down.
