Common Questions and Answers about Heart stroke systems

stroke

Avatar n tn No i dont worry about road accidents or even things like Heart Attacks or even death.
Avatar m tn This happens by a system of vasodilation and vasoconstriction coupled with the pumping rate and stroke volume of the heart. Rather than make frequent changes in volume, the body changes the configuration of the total container (all the vessels) and increases the speed at which the resource is renewed.
Avatar m tn It turned out that my father, grandfather and most of my aunts, uncles, and cousins were being treated for HBP. My father was diagnosed at 30 after he had a mini-stroke and one of my uncles was diagnosed before he turned 21, so I know its hereditary. I've done some cursory research and found that HBP can be caused by a heart valve problem, hyperthyroidism (I don't have), or arterial stiffness.
5466288 tn?1410485185 I was taken by ambulance to the ER.Every test done to check blood sugar, the heart, and for possible stroke, turned out normal. So I was diagnosed with vertigo, given a prescription for Antivert and rehydrated by IV since I was a little dehydrated.I forgot to mention that my blood pressure was VERY HIGH,although just two weeks prior it was very good.My question is could I have had some sort of seizure while sleeping, that left me with the vertigo and HBP? FYI,I have grand mal epilepsy.
Avatar f tn well, if they are that much more severe than your others, I say be prepared for the possibility, but don't get your heart set on it
Avatar f tn Causes of dizziness could include so many systems like high or low blood pressure secondary to anemia, dehydration etc, heart attack or arrhythmia, stroke, headaches, fainting, dementia, due to medications like sedatives, antidepressants and antibiotics.
Avatar m tn HAVE YOU BEEN UNDER A GREAT DEAL OF STRESS LATELY? COULD THIS BE A SIGN OF HEART ATTACK OR STROKE? THESE SOUND LIKE SERIOUS SYSTEMS ENOUGH TO WARRANT A TRIP TO THE DR ASAP.
Avatar f tn If you allow your cholesterol to remain high, you put yourself at much greater risk of Heart attack and stroke. Try not to see the medication as a negative thing or a problem, see it as a way to enhance your life.
Avatar f tn Flow voids indicating patency are seen in vertebrobasilar and carotid systems. Minor inflammatory mucoperiosteal thickening of frontal sinuses and various ethmoid air cells is present. Can a doctor tell me what this means? Thank you!
Avatar n tn I currently have CKD and I worry that these are new systems occurring.
Avatar f tn Me and my family have no experience dealing with stroke patients. My grandpa had stroke only a couple of weeks ago. He's now still in the hospital to be treated for his pneumonia. I'm now sleeping with him at the hospital because I can't bear the feeling of leaving him in the hospital. He's sleeping most of the time, and can't even begin any form of therapy because he sleeps even when standing up. Is that normal?
Avatar m tn the heart is stretching/thinning to achieve a higher stroke volume as it becomes harder to meet oxygen demand, which will eventually lead to enough wall thinning and stress (via volume overload and increased filling pressures) that it leads to systolic deterioration....
Avatar m tn This adaptation is in response to maximal loading of the cardiovascular and muscular systems and is accomplished by improving efficiency of the heart, increasing capillaries in the muscles, and increasing glycogen stores and mitochondrial enzyme systems within the muscle cells. During recovery periods these systems build to greater levels to compensate for the stress that you have applied. The result is that you are now at a higher level of performance.
Avatar f tn What is the difference between Ischemic stroke and myocardial infarction? I have PR 232 ms. What does it signify?
Avatar f tn My husband had a brain stem stroke two and a half years ago. He has recovered well physically but still suffers from vertigo 24/7. This is debilitating. There appears to be no medication to help with this. Can anyone offer the hope that this vertigo may stop with time? He is unable to work because of it and gets very tired very easily, as you can imagine.
Avatar f tn t have his tests/history but is it possible that the congestive heart failure is just getting worse and in essence his heart is just failing? More or less, it's a 3x CABG heart, 12+ years of medication, 88 years old = just life progressing (ie. slowly ending)?
Avatar f tn Do you ever wish there was some sort of inhaler we could take when we feel an anxiety attack/symptoms coming on, just something to stop it in its tracks so we can think logically about the cause of our symptoms instead of fast forwarding to "I've got......heart problems, cancer, MS, about to have a stroke" I suppose I can only dream......
Avatar m tn Hi, its difficult to tell the exact prognosis. As the post stroke swelling subsides she may recover function. But now all depends on if her vitals are stable or not. As she is improving and if the "stroke" is stabilized, and there is no further bleeding or clotting I would remain optimistic. Regards.
Avatar f tn Researchers found that HRT was actually INCREASING womens chances of getting the diseases it was supposed to prevent, including heart disease, stroke, blood clots, and certain types of cancers – including breast cancer. More recently, they also found that women using HRT were 38% more likely to need hip replacement, and 58% more likely to need knee replacement!
Avatar n tn My husband has had Arrhythmia for about a year and a half. It started out and would come when ever. He has had a electrophesiaologist study done and is on beta blockers only when it occurs. The studys didn't pin point where his heart was misfiring and they said there was no reason why it is going on. About 3 months now it comes for 2 weeks and then it is gone for 2 weeks. Why the pattern? His Arrhythmia is like his heart skips a beat. I can put my head on his chest and hear it.
Avatar m tn Hi my grandma had a stroke Saturday. We are not sure when she had it but we think it was 18hrs before we found her. She had scans done on her brain and they said she had a massive stroke and brain bleed. When we found her she was breathing on her own and had a heart beat but wasn't responsive, she is still like that today. The doctors say she has less than 5% chance of surviving and not to revive her if she has a heart attack as she will end up with no quality of life.
