Avatar f tn Great inspiration! I saw that video before after searching for a good jump rope. At the same time I read that some guy "invented" a jump rope without the rope to inspire clumsy people like me even more to continue this great cardio workout without tripping.
Avatar f tn Today something happened that really scared me. I was at Chuck E Cheese and tried to play a jump rope game (jump over the electronic "rope", faster and faster to try and beat the machine). After 2 very short turns (b/c I couldn't seem to jump high enough), my legs almost gave out, my heart was pounding out of control and I almost passed out!
Avatar f tn I very much doubt it, does he lose his balance other times or only when he jumps rope , if he loves other sports maybe he should do them and leave jump rope. Do his knees feel okay, dont hurt him, sometimes children get growing pains .
Avatar m tn This happens by a system of vasodilation and vasoconstriction coupled with the pumping rate and stroke volume of the heart. Rather than make frequent changes in volume, the body changes the configuration of the total container (all the vessels) and increases the speed at which the resource is renewed.
Avatar f tn Jumping jacks. Jump rope. Rope climbers. Lunges with weights. Pushups. Crunches then stretch. Your done in twenty min. And you have gotten your heart rate up and your metabolism revving.
Avatar f tn Do four to five 30- to 45-minute sessions a week, including exercises such as burpees, jumping rope, and jump squats to burn fat from your belly, butt and thighs.
Avatar n tn skipping can really get your heart rate up, so yeah it is good cardio exercise. As far as it being the only exercise you get- not so good. If you're just starting to exercise, try to have about 30 minutes a day for 5-6 time a week of your heart rate being elevated. Skipping can definitely do this (and if you are like me and can't actually jump high enough, skip with an imaginary rope).
Avatar f tn What is the difference between Ischemic stroke and myocardial infarction? I have PR 232 ms. What does it signify?
Avatar n tn Can high pulse rate cause a stroke or heart attack. My pulse rate is running between 106-128. When this happens I feel extremly irratated and little things get to me.
Avatar n tn How big is the dose of aspirin you take, 75mg isnthe dose people often take to reduce heart attack and stroke risk, any more and you maybe risking stomach problems. My doctor told me not to take aspirin at all ( even though I worry about my own chest pains) as it's an acid and can cause all kinds of problems with the stomach. I think you should speak to your doctor before taking anything like aspirin regularly, it's best to have a professional opinion.
Avatar f tn The endo has told me that my palpitations are absolutely NOT caused from my thyroid, and that there is something wrong with my heart. I have had all the cardio work ups known to man, and there is nothing wrong, but the endo will not listen to me. My levels were 9.76 two weeks ago and I amfeeling worse every day. I am on 100 mcg Levo, and he refuses to increase it until I have waited 6 weeks and get my levels checked again. He also said it is totally unnecessary to check t3t4.
Avatar n tn My husband has had Arrhythmia for about a year and a half. It started out and would come when ever. He has had a electrophesiaologist study done and is on beta blockers only when it occurs. The studys didn't pin point where his heart was misfiring and they said there was no reason why it is going on. About 3 months now it comes for 2 weeks and then it is gone for 2 weeks. Why the pattern? His Arrhythmia is like his heart skips a beat. I can put my head on his chest and hear it.

Avatar f tn He is 70 years old with blood work and blood pressure of a much younger man. When you take coumadin to help prevent a stroke then learn that taking it could also cause a stroke-that's kind of scary. My husband also started taking cod liver oil daily which we read keeps those arteries nice and slippery making it hard for clots to form. He also takes bunches of different vitamins. Thanks also for the heads up about a physicians "Standard of Care" rules.

Avatar f tn Since it is a risk factor for heart disease and stroke, this is important to find out. The current recommended treatment is niacin in a dose of 1-3 grams daily. However, please do not take it without asking your doctor. Take care!
Avatar m tn Over many, many years, with high blood pressure and being very overweight, the inside of your ventrical gets thicker, and the volume inside therefore decreases, decreasing stroke volume and causing your heart rate to become higher and your heart then has to work harder to pump the same amount of blood, which over many years causes the ventricular walls to stiffen. I hope that clarifies some of it.
Avatar n tn •Your doctor may prescribe a blood thinner if you have had a heart valve replaced or if you have atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeats of the upper chamber), phlebitis (leg vessel blood clots) , congestive heart failure (failure of the heart to mmet the supply demand for oxygenated blood) , or, in some cases, if you are obese.
Avatar f tn If clots are pumped into circulation it can cause blockage of blood to the heart or to the brain and cause a stroke. I haven't heard a low EF causes clots.
Avatar n tn Hyperkinetics is a motion disorder. Combine that term with the heart would indicate heart wall motion impairment. The pathogenesis can be congential, ischemic, viral, drugs, medication, alsohol, etc. Or hyperkinetic can be neuromyopathic from a cerebral stroke.
Avatar n tn My Grandson was told he has a hole in his heart, what does that mean, and what are treatment options?
Avatar m tn The EF represents a mechanism that helps maintain a balance between the left and right side of the heart. If the left side is out of balance, the left ventricle will dilate to increase stroke volume and stronger contractility to compensate. Not unlike a compensatory increase of the heart rate. A problem develops when there is sustained overcompensation.
Avatar f tn What happens if you don't breastfeed?
Avatar f tn I'm a 49yr.old female runner who was diagnosed with paroxymol arterial fib with BBB through a 14d loop recorder. My brother has Wolf Parkinsons White.
