Avatar n tn My nuclear stress test results were as follows ver batim. I do not know what it means, are the results acceptable, good very good etc. What does this say about the blood flow to the heart muscle ? "injection of Myoview nuclear tracer & resting images obtained excercised on a treadmill for 5 min 34 sec. to 10.
Avatar m tn i am male 51 went for a stress test conclusion was Exercise induced ischemia at peak levels in lateral leads doctors said that at 150bpm there was a negative result of -1.75 which was bad an earlier test done five years back had no indication of this , what is the interpration of this result and how serious is this? i do not smoke or drink and do not exercise . help This discussion is related to Stress Test Interpretation.
Avatar n tn I don't know. There were no displays on the treadmill when I did my stress test. They mostly judged my "success" on my heart rate and blood pressure readings compared to how long I lasted. I never had to run; it was just a walking speed with some incline increases. I did about 10 minutes I guess and then had to lie down for the recovery part. I think I did just fine.
Avatar m tn Stress tests are standardized so most likely you were administered the same test as all of have had, The Bruce Protocol Stress Test. If that is the case, 10 minutes isn't too bad, but if you made it to 15 minutes, it would be perfectly normal to be panting and sweating profusely..... And most likely you'd be a world class athlete.
Avatar n tn I can produce a numbert of different opinions what is the appropriate heart rate and so on with exercising. The best method for someone with a heart issue is to have a stress test. A stress test is oftened done for the purpose of learning the degree of tolerance/risk one can safely do. The rule of thumb stated is not recommended for someone who has heart issues. You will be safe to engage in exercising according to METs.
Avatar n tn Typically during a Bruce Protocol Heart Rate and Rating of Perceived Exertion are taken every minute and Blood Pressure is taken at the end of each stage (every three minutes). Bruce Protocol Stage Minutes % grade km/h MPH METs stage 1 3 10 2.7 1.7 4.7 stage 2 6 12 4.0 2.5 7.0 The test was terminated after a little more than 7 minutes. A successful test is 15 minutes and 15 METs. Were you short of breath, fatigue, chest pain, etc.
486822 tn?1208800499 Could you help me understand my stress test findings? I am scheduled for a heart catherization due to these findings. I'm am a 45 year old female with obesity and Graves Disease. Exercised for 6 minutes and 30 seconds of a Bruce Protocol. Heart rate increased to 151 which was 86% of her perdicted maximal heart rate. Blood pressure was 124/92 at baseline and peaked at 160/78. Had slight chest discomfort during exercise which resolved with rest.
Avatar f tn The ejection fraction measures how well the squeezing/pumping action of your heart is. The Bruce protocol treadmill test will not provide an ejection fraction. During the treadmill test you will walk at increasing speeds and gradients. The exercise technician (the person running the test) will acquire ECG/EKG information throughout. Your doctor will be able to see how long you are able to do and how your ECG/EKG changed (or did not change) during the test.
Avatar n tn baseline ECG is normal. On Bruce protocol she could walk for upto 2 min on treadmill. There were no ECG changes during test, but during recovery phase she developed ST depression with T inversion in II, III, AVF , I, aVL and V2 to V6 for 10 min. She was not having chest pain at that time. She is undergoing Cor angio shortly. What is the probability that she can have Triple vessel disease?
Avatar n tn I (57 yo male) just received the results of a stress test (Bruce protocol). I thought my heart was healthy, but asked for this test before starting an exercise regimen after not exercising regularly for the past few years. The "borderline normal " results were: 1. Ischemic changes confined to a small segment of the interior-apical wall of the left ventricle as well as the septal wall. 2. Borderline ejection fraction of 49% at rest.
Avatar m tn This can be cause by a reversible defect or blockage in an artery and is usually verified by a nuclear stress test of a cath. Also, it would appear that your exercise and oxygen uptake tolerance were decreased as well/ What did your doctor have to say? Let us know.
Avatar m tn these would be firefighters and police officers performing a routine Bruce protocol test to pass their physical exam- can a midlevel or RN interpret and sign off
Avatar f tn I've a lot of them, but mine usually last only 2 to 5 minutes, two minutes if they spot something right away, five if my heart is behaving. I don't have the healthiest of hearts, and at my age they only have to get my heart beating to about 110 bpm. They like to continue the test for a minute or so at your 85% rate. Google 'Bruce Protocol' and you will get a lot of answers. Good for you, seeing the Cardiologist.
Avatar n tn A treadmill with stress test will measure METs, and some high-end treadmills in a gym. The stress test I had measured METs using the Bruce protocol 4 years ago. The test was discontinued after 4 minutes and 20 seconds equivalent to 7.2 METs. The treadmill I use at the gym indicates I can do 7 METs without a problem (4 mph, fast pace).
Avatar m tn Maybe I should have not asked for the Stress Test and listened to my Doctor. He suggested we either redo the test or refer to a Cardiologist at teaching hospital As soon as I eft the office I went for a a nice 40 minute run no chest pain or shortnes of breath was noted. Should I increase my dosage of baby aspirin? do you think they will recommend another cardiolite test or angiogram? I think I might have to wait a while for the appoinment. What's your impression or guess?
642877 tn?1281799282 A stress test is performed to determine causes of chest pain, the exercise capacity of the heart, appropriate exercise levels in those beginning an exercise program, and to identify rhythm disturbances during exercise. There may be additional reasons that your health care provider requests this test. Your wish to learn of your heart's functionality with exercise and the degree of exercise for the most benefit with little risk is a reason doctors ask for a stress test.
486822 tn?1208800499 Stress Test Results Exercised for 6 minutes and 30 seconds of a Bruce Protocol. Heart rate increased to 151 which was 86% of her perdicted maximal heart rate. Blood pressure was 124/92 at baseline 1. Adequate exercise with heart rate of 151 which is normal for her age and condition. 2. Exercise treadmill test is equivocal for ischemia at 86% of her predicted maximal heart rate. 3. Normal hemodynamic response to exercise. 4.
Avatar n tn The cardiologists ordered numerous tests, including the Bruce protocol stress test. During the bruce protocol, I went to the end of the 5th stage, at which point the doctor stopped the test because my BP reached 206/101 (an rather large increase from my resting BP of 125/66). I have 9 years of education in the area of Kinesiology and public health, and I had always assumed I was healthy because I exercise regularily and eat healthy... But now I am concerned... Any advice? Or suggestions??
Avatar n tn 30 on Bruce Protocol with a max HR of 194 (I am 33 yrs old) but 10 minutes post recovery I was still 140bpm. How alarmed should I be and what can I do to fix or improve. I have already started a low carb low fat diet and started an aerobic exercise program. I am on 5mg of lisinpril for hypertensionl; my BP is now 120/77.
Avatar m tn Your question raises several important points. First what is your lifestyle including exercise, weight and dietary habits. Clearly smoking is a significant risk factor for heart attack, stroke, limb loss and lung cancer. The current gold standard for identifying a coronary stenosis that would be responsible for the nuclear perfusion finding is a cardiac cath. This could easily be done to dispel any question of the validity of the indirect finding on the stress test. But then what?....
1285040 tn?1438934858 Clinically positive and electrically negative Bruce protocol exercise treadmill test. Fair exercise tolerance. Test stopped due to dyspnea. Chest pressure at peak exercise. Occasional PVCs. No ischemia. A nuclear stress (only) test showed decreased perfusion in the anterior and inferolateral walls. ECG gated LV wall motion study revealed normal wall motion, normal wall thickening, normal systolic function, with a calculated ejection fraction of 58%.
Avatar n tn I have had Bruce Protocol Method with treadmil test, and I was unable to complete after 7 minutes...represents about 7.0 Mets. I work out on the treadmil 3 times a week at 4.5 Mets, but I have a heart condition and take a nitrate prior to workout. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Avatar f tn Most treadmill stress tests use a standard method referred to as the "Bruce Protocol". The test is a combination of speed and incline. The treadmill used has this program built into it, so your test would be just like my test. The idea is to walk as long as you can. Your test will start very slowly, but will increase in speed and incline at regular intervals, The test itself is designed so most people eventually "fail".
Avatar f tn the patient was exercised according to the Bruce Protocol, for 12 minutes (stage 4) with an estimated workload of 13.4 Mets. The test was terminated because of satisfactory cardiac workload. patient did not experience chest pain with stress. The heart rate was 96 bpm at rest and reached 196 with exercise which is 108.3% of predicted maximum. The blood pressure at rest was 126/86 and reached 150/90 at peak exercise which is a normal response. The resting ECG demonstrated sinus rhythm.
