315318 tn?1353251800 Here in the UK they make you wait 3 months between operations. I had it done its the best thing I have ever done. I now see colours I never knew existed.
Avatar n tn Usually taking a deep breath pain is not a heart issue, however, the exception would be complications of pericarditis including constrictive pericarditis and pericardial effusion. For some insight there is a sac that surrounds the heart and in between the sac and heart muscle there exists some fluids that aids the heart's functionality and complications include inflammation (pericarditis) with pericardial effusion.
617598 tn?1222407634 If you're having PVC's, then a doctor probably wouldn't go to the extreme of a procedure like an ablation. Many people have them but they're pretty harmless unless you're having tens of thousands a day or if you're having long runs of them (sustained v-tach). Most cardios will try to reassure a patient that although they're annoying, they're not life threatening.
Avatar f tn It is controversial the surgery. My age would preclude a little. In the UK they have a procedure which is better than anywhere. They wouldn't make more holes. The point is the hole causes a clot to release and go to the brain and cause stroke. They usualyy fill it. However I have 4 neurologist who say different things.
Avatar m tn With children there is usually two operations, the second operation to account for the growth factor of a child.
1580085 tn?1400940838 Hi I too am in the UK and I am afraid our GP's don't seem to be very good at dealing with this illness. I spent 2 years when first diagnosed being told my blood tests were normal whilst feeling awful, my main symptom being anxiety when my levels are wrong. I gained weight and was told by my gp that this wasn't a sympton just an excuse!
Avatar m tn The good news is that bypass operations have become routine, and if the procedure is performed at a facility that does lots of them, mortality is very low, and recovery generally rapid. The extent to which he regains the ability to function normall depends upon the extent of the infarct (or area of necrotic tissue). All so-called "heart attacks" are not the same.
Avatar f tn Is any one from the UK?
Avatar f tn I had the Nissen Fundoplication surgery about eighteen months ago, with great results. From the studying I did prior to the surgery, it sounds like the wrap and stitching procedure was too tightly done, and this might result in expulsion of food in the esophagus. I'd strongly suggest you do as much as possible to make sure the repeat surgery is performed by someone with a lot of experience.
Avatar n tn a long long time ago my mother saved someone in a flooded river in australia. she caught something which caused her to have various operations, her hair thinned considerably, i suspect she may have developed some kind of brain function thing too. what does the doctor think this illness might have been? my mother has long passed now heart attack and old age. thank you.

Avatar f tn Most of us are in the U.S. and would not be able to answer your question, as we don't know the rules surrounding your NHS. You should check with your local authorities. Or you could check with another clinic to see. We do find that the NHS does not, often, allow for adequate thyroid testing/treatment, and many of our members do have to go private in order to get adequate care. Do you know the exact TSH level? Some doctors refuse to begin treatment until TSH is quite high.
468452 tn?1225964888 My question is, is this drug only prescibed in the US? I myself had never heard of it here in the UK. Does anybody know if it perhaps has another name here in the UK or do we just not use the drug? I currently take Diazapam or Ativan for extreme attacks but it would be nice to have something to take on a regular basis that does the same thing but without the same addictive qualities and to perhaps stop me from getting myself into a state in the first place? Does anyone know about this???
4020799 tn?1355825570 I'm having one. I'm in Australia. We aren't telling anyone the sex of the baby until the shower so my partners mum has done the pink and blue theme. We have games, a bbq lunch and desert. They have a pool, and stuff so being summer here should be good. But I'm not doing the girlie shower it's a moved family one.
1421489 tn?1285525635 Thanks for your comments - it seems that with NICE and reduction in benefits, MS-ers are having a bad time of it in the UK at the moment (disclaimer: only in comparison with the prior UK situation, not in comparison to the US...) Is anyone out there in the UK and on DMDs? If so, did the neuro prescribe them as a matter of course, or did it take a while?
1530342 tn?1405016490 Although the big picture suggests the hiring situation has improved from the start of the recession to today, one question remains the same: "Where are the jobs?" Job seekers don't care about trends if they can't see the jobs. We want to help job seekers answer that question by giving them a list of 22 companies hiring in large volume. These companies are looking for workers now, and they cover a wide variety of industries.
Avatar f tn Is my head stuck-in the clouds? I have travelled to the UK a total of 12 times to all 4 countries. I am going back this November. Thanks for your help in advance.
Avatar m tn However prior to the operation I used to have blood in my sperm for a number of years and the first two times I ejaculated after the operations it was bloody as before Then I noticed there was no blood in my sperm and this continued for about 9 months Wonderful I thought and what a great success. However after a short lapse of any sexual activity I have now noticed that the blood has appeared again.
Avatar m tn For complex valvular disease the risk can be as high as 10 to 15%. Heart function and the functional status of the patient play a huge role in prognosis.
Avatar n tn How much of the heart fills within this time range? I assume the blood has already filled the heart relatively quickly in a healthy cardio-vascular system. Can this added pressure have adverse effects in the long term? Can you recommend this treatment for lets say athletes or young people with leg pain /RLS type symptoms? As i am not a cardiologist, and don't have one on staff, i have no idea and could use some advice. Thank you!
Avatar f tn In the UK, do they check for dilation? Only really heard it done in USA, and I'm 37 haven't been checked so far!
