Heart operation scar

Common Questions and Answers about Heart operation scar

operation

Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar m tn s, I was born with heart defects, and because of this am lining up for my 6th open heart surgery operation at aged 28. I have had my pulmonary valve replaced twice before, but this time I am supposed to get both the pulmonary and aorta valves replaced. I guess i am a little (lot) scared about it as I feel I have just entered a phase where I have a lot of living yet to do and really don't want this to end me now.
Avatar n tn so my father had an operation right above his heart but the operation had notthing to do with his heart. well today in the morning he found a small lump right by it followed by pain on his left arm and on the left side of his face. my father is 42 and im scared that the lump could be cancer. any thoughts?
Avatar n tn My mother had to have scar tissue removed after her cataract operation. It has not healed well since and left her with distorted vision in that eye. She is afraid now to have the other cataract on her other eye removed for fear of scar tissue developing again which might then leave her with dreadul distortions in both eyes She is 87 and has been waiting for the day her sight is so bad she has nothing to lose by risking it. However it is really affecting the quality of her life ...
Avatar n tn what would be surgery risk for re-operation for avr replacement for a healthy 62 year old, with no major (liver, kidney, lung) disease in which a Bentall procedure was done in the first operation done 8 years earlier? also, what would the complications risks be for each related, possible complication?
Avatar f tn Hi, Unfortunately I can't add any extra information but have to say I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I've had two heart surgeries and the second one was complicated by the fact that my right ventricle is stuck to my sternum thanks to scar tissue. It's still stuck and this makes any redo operation (which I may be looking at due to an aneurysm) risky. It's a very scary thought! Best of luck to you and your dad.

Avatar f tn Its been teo years after my mitral valve repair everything was fine except for inappropriate sinus tachycardia that I developped post op but now my echo shows trouble in ventricular ralexation it is a grade 1 so my cardiologist didnt give a damn and yet from what I read it must be caused by scar tissues or something and this is life threatning so id like to know is this restrictive cardiomyopathy and if it is will it progress to heart failure or will things stop here since the scar tissue is hea
Avatar n tn The surgery scar will eventually fade. Some people use this time to experiment with scarves. You can click on several profiles and then click photos to see people's scars.
Avatar f tn A standard echo can usually detect scar tissue caused by MI because the movement of the ventricles would reflect this. A 'stress' echo certainly can reveal ischemia, and can be quite accurate at which area of the heart is suffering. I recently had a stress echo which has revealed slight ischemia at the lower part of the left ventricle. It must be remembered that interpretation of any test is only as good as the person looking at it.
Avatar f tn We live in a med size town with 2 hospitals tried to get a 2 nd opion at other hosp. but was pretty much laughed out of there. said yea you have a hematoma and alot of scar tissue. Avatar m tn I had a heart catheter done 9 days ago with very little bruising for 7 days. about a day ago some light bruising in my leg with some pain in the groin and leg area. But no swelling, pus or redness in the operation site. Is this normal or of any concern??
Avatar m tn I suffered a discetomy/laminectomy 20 years ago for a severe L5-S1 herniation. A rather successful operation until now as I've been suffering for leg pain for several months. With the aid of a MRI and an electromiography my neurosurgeon considers it a case of late post-op lumbar fibrosis with a severe radiculopathy from the S1 nerve root. I'm on conservative treatment. (Lyrica150mg/day, Ibuprofen 1200mg/day).
Avatar m tn Everything is fine with my penis sexually and i am relatively happy with how the procedure went. There are a few concerns with the operation that i need to address. On the circumcision scar line there are two small bumps that appeared almost straight after the circumcision was done. They haven't shrunk or grown since the operation but i consider them to be ugly and want to get rid of them. I also want to know what these could be?
Avatar n tn If the laser operation had been done correctly, how could it be there is a "flap" still hanging? To me, a flap (like the hanging chad) would have fallen away if all the scar tissue had been properly removed. Is this a common occurrence when laser is used on the eye? Any comments/suggestions will surely be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I have had 2 spontanious phemothorax and recieved surgery the 2nd time around. This was about 3 years ago. I had a CT scan a few weeks ago for something else and they found a 8mm nodule. Could that be scar tissue? Is there any connection with spontanious phemothorax's and lung cancer? Thanks for any input!
Avatar n tn I had a partial T on the 14th of June. The doctors wanted to leave in my drainage tube until I go and see them this week. How long do they normally leave the drains in for? What exactly is coming out of the drain onto the gauze? Its making me really nervous because when I lay on my side I notice my heart beat is unusually fast. And it doesn't matter what side I am laying on. It hurts to lay on my belly and try to turn my neck to one side.
Avatar m tn Beau had an operation to remove object. The very next day the vet had to perform another emergency operation for peritonitis. 3 weeks after surgery all seemed fine, then began vomiting again. The vet operated, found twisted intestine. Once released the color normalised. They noticed scar tissue from previous operation which they feel is normal, but also see that his stomach has fused to his liver. I am really worried for Beau, what can be done? Can twisted intestines reoccur?
