Common Questions and Answers about Heart operation recovery

operation

Avatar f tn Thirdly will complications occur during recovery or further in the future. If there was no heart damage and the surgery was a good result, plus no complications occur during recovery then there is no reason why anyone cannot return to a normal life. However, if the job involves lifting, then I will be surprised if he will feel well enough after 6 months to do this. I had a triple bypass and my muscles took a year to recover fully.
Avatar n tn I have had two abalatons done in 2008 and a electrocardioversion done in 2011 all unsuccessful. Is the recovery time about a month? thanks for your help, I'm a little anxious.
Avatar m tn My father is 60 years old and had a heart attack last week. When diagnosed he had 80% blockage in one artery and a minor block in other artery. His Coloestrol, sugar and BP is perfect. Doc though is suggesting a bypass, can anybody suggest that is it the last remedy or we can have some scope through medicines?
Avatar m tn For most people this is long, hard, difficult recovery but take heart that many have made it through the process.
Avatar n tn what would be surgery risk for re-operation for avr replacement for a healthy 62 year old, with no major (liver, kidney, lung) disease in which a Bentall procedure was done in the first operation done 8 years earlier? also, what would the complications risks be for each related, possible complication?
Avatar m tn Kidney problems after bypass surgery can occur but the majority recover. It is also common for shortness of breath during recovery. Some patients take several weeks or even months for this to resolve. This does not mean they shouldn't run tests to establish it isn't a problem with the bypass vessels.
Avatar m tn Hi! I am very concerned about a relative of mine who had a stroke about two months ago. The stroke didn't leave any very serious damage, but nevertheless he had an operation on his heart to insert a device to block the flow of blood from one chamber to another, as he had a PFO or a small hole in the heart. This was done successfully. He also has an anuyerism on his heart in the same area, which I believe gave rise to the stroke initially, as a clot went to his brain.
Avatar f tn In your previously posted question (10/14/15) I said that this operation is unusual and recovery is not as fast or predictable as the standard cataract removal insertion of IOL done in an adult. The complication you have is not rare. The white stuff is usuallyy as Soemmering's Ring dislocation see link below. http://bjo.bmj.com/content/35/4/226.full.pdf This is not a minor operation. This will reset the clock to day one again.
Avatar n tn Hope this gives you a perspective what is generally expected from a prior valve operation. At 33 years old you may have a faster recovery time, but I don't believe experiencing your symptoms after two weeks is unexpected, but you may want to contact your doctor to be safe. Thanks for your question, and I wish you well going forward.
1195402 tn?1264994556 Hypokinesis indicates heart cells are damaged but not necrotic (hyperkinesis), and sometimes the heart cells can be revitalized (stunned or dormant heart cells) with adequate blood supply. My heart cells were dormant from lack of blood supply over a period of time, but has returned to almost normal. Hope this helps you.

Avatar n tn My mother is 84 years old and is due to have a heart operation which I am very concern about. She has to have an aortic valve replacement plus a bypass (she has an artery very obstructed).
Avatar f tn Well his bladder cancer was advanced, I guess that's why they had to remove the whole bladder but it hadn't spread to any other organs. He has a history of heart problems, arthiritis and lung issues. He still has yet to gain strength in his appendages but is still alive...so would it be safe to say that he's in the clear or at least that his odds of survival have increased?? If so by how much? When do you think he will be released from the hospital and able to return home?
Avatar m tn My mom was operated of right parietal meningioma on December 14 2009. 6443793 tn?1469746195 Just try to keep her on the calm side,NO jumping up on any couches, beds, chairs( or down off of them) for 5 days, also it would be best she did not go up or down steps for this time frame also. IF she wants to race or run around, you may need to put a harness and leash on her, keep her close ( hook the leash to your belt)so she is slowed down or use a crate to allow her to rest, lay down more.IF you have steps to go outside pick her up,carry out,let her potty then carry back inside.
Avatar f tn I followed all instructions regarding positioning. 10 days after the operation, my doctor told me that the hole was closed, the gas bubble is more than halfway down but I am still not able to see clearly. On top of blurry and slightly distorted images I see a small light dark spot , which flashes when I blink. Can you tell me if this isnormal part of recovery, or something else is wrong? I am 57 and otherwise very healthy.
Avatar n tn I have had two OHS in four years and my chest never popped or crackled after either. Both my surgeries were open sternum.
Avatar f tn Recovery from cataract surgery is from days to a few weeks. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn it was believed my prior heart attack and enlarged heart caused the MVR, and there was a possibility the valve could return to normal with treatment...it hasn't. Based on what you state, the report indicates a grossly enlarged LV, and that may contraindicate a surgery at the present time in order to treat and reduce the heart's size. If that is not possible, then to wait any longer is not in the best interest of a successful outcome.
Avatar m tn Today she is back in the hospital dignoses with non-emergency fluid around the heart and in the lungs. They plan to drain the lung fluid today and the heart tomorrow. What next??? Will there ever be a happy ending?
Avatar m tn He is diabetic with high BP problem. He also underwent angioplasty 5 yrs back and has stent in his heart artery. Following the angioplasty operation, he was on a blood thinning medicine. When the artery ruptured in his brain, the blood spread rather than to get clot giving him a major brain hemorrhage. After the stroke, he has right side paralyzed. now opens his eyes but has no cognizance. he has slight left side limbs movement. He has no speech and is fed through a tube in the nose.
