Common Questions and Answers about Heart operation process

operation

Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar n tn Had an ablation done 10 days ago and have had 3 arrhythmias since the operation. Only had them once a month pre operation now 3 in 10 days??? The doc says not to worry, but how can I not....this is worse than pre ablation. Anyone with similar situation..please tell me this doesn't necessarily mean the 8 hour operation didn't take!

Avatar m tn My daughter had a vitrecomy operation due to diabetic retinopathy and she is only 34. The operation was on Monday that was 3 days ago and they had a lot of old blood to remove also they did cataract surgery but after they removed the eye patch she complained of a black line across her eye, i know it is early days but could anyone tell me if this is normal. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
907968 tn?1292622204 The first is is there is any death of heart tissue prior to the operation and if so, how much. Or if there has been structural deterioration ofn the heart (enlarged heart, for example). This requires a consultation with your physician. The second is the potential damage to the healing process. As mentioned, three months is about the minimum. There seems to be strong evidence that daily vitamin C supplements significantly improves the strength of the tissue when healing.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar m tn The vet took some x-rays and blood samples and the xray showed no shadow in the area of the lump. However; it did show a fractured xiphoid process, which deviated outwards and stood apart from the rest of the septum (but not separated-so the tissue connecting it to the main bone is still intact) The vet said there was no need for any treatment in my cat's situation but I am a little wary still.
Avatar n tn t get comfortable to sleep. She went bck to the doc yesterday and they noticed that she had fluid around her heart and her device wasn't in sync with her heart. They called themselves tweeking the device and told her to see how it works for her but nothing much was said about the fluid around the heart. When I asked the doc about it he said that she had a really bad heart and she would have some fluid there anyway.
592969 tn?1248325405 Recovery time is different for each patient and each operation. It is good that her lungs, heart, and kidneys are doing fine. The time of her waking up after surgery is really dependent on the anesthesia used. It is important that you have open communication with your mother's doctors to entail a better understanding of the healing process. Avatar m tn Having a past detachment increases your risk greatly of having another one in either eye. Intraocular surgery like cataract surgery also increases your risk in that eye. Have a "heart to heart" with your surgeon about the risks. If you need the cataract op to see, do it. I have done many such cases and have rarely had a problem. Also, have the retina checked. If there are any suspicious areas which may result in a hole, you might have them lasered in advance of the surgery.
Avatar f tn so has anyone else planning for family planning operation.... Is it you or your husband going for it....my hubby says he will do vasectomy as operation is not good for women....
Avatar m tn She was detected with a big cholestrol stone in gall bladder so she went for the operation. She was very scared of the concept of the laser operation and instead went for old process of open surgery (Big cut in stomach and remove gall bladder). With lot of hopes to lead a normal life, she went for lot of post surgery checkups but she kept on having severe stomach ache and Lot of acidity that she had to vomit the Acid out.
Avatar f tn He had two blockages in arteries going into the bottom of his heart. On in the front of his heart was 100% blocked and had rerouted itself into another artery in the back of the heart but the artery that it had rerouted to was 90% blocked. The doctor placed a stent in the one in the back but not the one that had rerouted. Prior to the stent operation he had shortness of breath and pain in his right arm iwth activity (walking long periods).
Avatar n tn good luck and i sincerely hope it works out well for you and you can put your heart situation and your issues behind you...i know it is very difficult.....
Avatar m tn My dog aged 12 has had a gall bladder operation on Tuesday 11 March, and the wound has been left open. It is bleeding a lot 4 days after surgery, and he has a nappy to try and protect the house from blood leakages. How long will the wound take to heal and how long will be bleeding last. He passes urine through his penis and his wound. Will this prolong the healing process and can it lead to infection? Hope you can give some advise.
Avatar n tn my father having hernia problem, he had heart blockages too 90,99,90% we come to know in an geography, we don't want to do bypass sugary but want to do hernia operation whether it is suitable for him???
Avatar f tn C before and it is an easy procedure (physically). I HATE this process and am grateful to have a healthy son inbetween the two miscarriages. Good luck to you. If you ask what the CRL (crown to rump length) was for your scan anything bigger than 5mm is a missed miscarriage. I found this out after the process and was holding on to hope that was never there. I do hope for a little miracle for you and you never know...... God Bless!!
Avatar n tn There is a mixed view on when to do a valve operation. The Mayo Clinic's renown heart surgery states publically that the biggest problem he see is that the patient waited too long. Waiting too long can require an operation when the left ventricle is enlarged and that condition would reduce the EF, and an operation subsequently the EF may never return to normal function.
Avatar m tn With children there is usually two operations, the second operation to account for the growth factor of a child.
