Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar m tn Meloxicam can increase your risk of life-threatening heart or circulation problems, including heart attack or stroke. Do not use this medicine just before or after having heart bypass surgery (also called coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG). Seek emergency medical help if you have symptoms of heart or circulation problems, such as chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, or problems with vision or balance. See your doctor regarding sleep disturbances.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
592969 tn?1248325405 Recovery time is different for each patient and each operation. It is good that her lungs, heart, and kidneys are doing fine. The time of her waking up after surgery is really dependent on the anesthesia used. It is important that you have open communication with your mother's doctors to entail a better understanding of the healing process. Avatar m tn Having a past detachment increases your risk greatly of having another one in either eye. Intraocular surgery like cataract surgery also increases your risk in that eye. Have a "heart to heart" with your surgeon about the risks. If you need the cataract op to see, do it. I have done many such cases and have rarely had a problem. Also, have the retina checked. If there are any suspicious areas which may result in a hole, you might have them lasered in advance of the surgery.
Avatar m tn my heart rate was elevated after my cabg. At rest it was 100 and at exertion it was jumping to 186. You Father had his surgery just over a week ago? I wasn't able to walk far then, just about to the other side of the room. He has had major surgery and it will take time to settle down. I couldn't even take proper breaths after two weeks, the chest pain from the ribs expanding was too much. When his breathing gets back to normal, he will feel much better.

1195402 tn?1264994556 Hypokinesis indicates heart cells are damaged but not necrotic (hyperkinesis), and sometimes the heart cells can be revitalized (stunned or dormant heart cells) with adequate blood supply. My heart cells were dormant from lack of blood supply over a period of time, but has returned to almost normal. Hope this helps you.
1303648 tn?1274504441 Sorry to read of your son's heart rhythm problems. In general SVT does not just go away, and it should be checked and treated. Because it involves the ventricle it is potentially more serious than the various atrial chamber heart rhythm problems. Treatment may be a beta blocker to lower the HR. This is just one possibility. It is critical that the condition be evaluated by a doctor, preferably a heart specialist (Cardiologist in the USA).
