Heart operation diet

Common Questions and Answers about Heart operation diet

operation

Avatar f tn t want to go back in the next day to remove my gallbladder. Hence, the docs suggested a low-fat diet which was <5.0grams of fat in any given meal and it worked to thwart off any future attacks. But you need to talk with your doctor to see what is best for you. So sorry you are going thru this now. Steering clear of any fats (esp fried foods and cream sauces) worked for me.
Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
Avatar n tn 08, I have done CT Angiogram scan and noted that there is 50-60% block in the first branch from the main artery from the heart, and another 30% block in a much smaller artery much futher. I have been taking Crestor and Cardiprin since Jan' 09. The cardiologist recommend that I perform an ballooning by inserting a stent at teh blockage. Is it necessary for me if teh blockage is less than 60%?
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar m tn IS this Biscuspid valve operation a major operation to Heart. Since i am only 27 Years old and i can do all activities after the operation as normal or else i have to take precautions which Heart patients take after surgery.
1303648 tn?1274504441 Sorry to read of your son's heart rhythm problems. In general SVT does not just go away, and it should be checked and treated. Because it involves the ventricle it is potentially more serious than the various atrial chamber heart rhythm problems. Treatment may be a beta blocker to lower the HR. This is just one possibility. It is critical that the condition be evaluated by a doctor, preferably a heart specialist (Cardiologist in the USA).
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar m tn There is no cure although there is a belief by some people that some medication can reverse CAD due to plaque. The advice to stop or delay CAD is to follow a heart healthy diet, exercise regimen, avoid stressful situations (i.e. workplace), etc. is the usual recommendation. It works for me. I have a totally blocked LAD and 72% blocked circumflex for more than 5 years...currently very good blood pressure, heart rate under control, lipid levels couldn't be better, proper weight, etc.
Avatar m tn sounds like you have anxiety- does you heart beat fast when you are talking to people? you may have high levels of cortizol ( I am sorry if I am spelling it wrong, the fight and flight syndrome, but you are keeping it bottle up-- what is your diet? stay away from sugar, white and processed foods, more lean proteins and fruits and veggies. A better diet with exercise will make you feel better!!
Avatar f tn Your doctor will probably recommend that you make other lifestyle changes, such as following a heart-healthy diet, limiting alcohol, and exercising. Try to do activities that raise your heart rate. Exercise for at least 30 minutes on most, preferably all, days of the week. If there is an operation heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks. A 4.0 cm diameter should not impose any restrictions, but to be sure you should consult with the doctor as there may be other considerations.
808904 tn?1307057809 A CT scan of the the heart vessel's inner layers may be helpful to determine if there are any beginnings of CAD and CT angiogram for any partial blockage of the vessels.. If there is plaque build up in the carotid arteries that is a good indication there may be beginnings of CAD with advancement of soft plague and/or plaque buildup in the coronary arteries. Your medication should control high blood pressure, lower cholesterol, proper diet and exercise, etc.
Avatar m tn Having a past detachment increases your risk greatly of having another one in either eye. Intraocular surgery like cataract surgery also increases your risk in that eye. Have a "heart to heart" with your surgeon about the risks. If you need the cataract op to see, do it. I have done many such cases and have rarely had a problem. Also, have the retina checked. If there are any suspicious areas which may result in a hole, you might have them lasered in advance of the surgery.
Avatar m tn I had my Nissen Fundo Feb 2012. I agree that it is a painful operation and the recovery and especially the diet afterwards is hectic! but the diet is the most important part of the recovery! Make sure that you don't eat or do to much too soon. Did your Surgeon give you dietary instructions?
1176496 tn?1263732218 In Bangkok, my Indian' friend has had a hard time of things the last 2 years. I believe he swallowed some glass which perforated the esophagus. He had 2 bad operations, then a 3rd one on Tuesday I think might just be OK. Several things are worrisome, however particularly his post-op diet. Sony's doctor' suggestions for what to eat post-op seem like utter madness to me. I think his primary concern is to protect whatever he used to close the hole in the esophagus.
Avatar n tn good luck and i sincerely hope it works out well for you and you can put your heart situation and your issues behind you...i know it is very difficult.....

Avatar m tn About 6 years ago, I had an enlarged heart, and the heart was very weak and blood backed up into the lungs causing congested heart failure. Currently with medication, exercise, proper diet, etc. my heart has returned to normal and functions adequately. I wasn't expected to live more than a few months...I was ICU for several days to get a normal oxygen level and remove excessive fluids.
Avatar n tn If you had had a heart attack, it is likely you would have symptoms such as shortness of breath, possibly chest pain, fatigue, etc., those symptoms would be apparent with heavy exertion. There are silent heart attacks that are asymptomatic until there is heart failure.
Avatar m tn I understand this could have been the cause. Diet is brat diet plus proteins such as chicken. No fever or vomiting. Does have gas and cramps. Please any help would be appreciated. Anyone with similar experience after knee replacement surgery.
Avatar n tn There is a mixed view on when to do a valve operation. The Mayo Clinic's renown heart surgery states publically that the biggest problem he see is that the patient waited too long. Waiting too long can require an operation when the left ventricle is enlarged and that condition would reduce the EF, and an operation subsequently the EF may never return to normal function.
Avatar m tn With children there is usually two operations, the second operation to account for the growth factor of a child.
Avatar n tn I worry about heart disease as both my mother and father had it. My mother died at age 66 of a massive heart attack. Is it possible that this episode is a symptom of heart disease or a pre curser to a heart attack? I should also mention that during rest I felt fine. When I was up moving around or moving my left arm is when I felt the pain. Also during the beginning of the attack it was very hard to take a deep breath. This would make the pain worse.
Avatar m tn t exclude an iondividual from an operation. If that were the criterion as a basis for an operation, then heart surgery, etc. would be contraindicated. The doctor may have other reasons concomitant to a heart issue...you should ask! The best method for determining the best hospitals and medical is from a health professional in your country. You could contact the Cleveland Clinic by email for more information and may be they could help you.
