547836 tn?1302836432 The best things could be soups - they fill you up for longer, are easy to digest and with a couple of bits of whole grain bread can give you that instant hit that lasts longer - particularly if the soup has a protein base. Protein base vegetable soups fill you up for longer and give you more energy. The more veges and low GI carbs you eat and less sugar, the more sustained energy you have. Try salads for lunch and steak and veges for dinner - no carbs.
203342 tn?1328740807 My question is does anyone have any ideas how we can cut down on our grocery bill and STILL eat healthy? Is it even possible? I really want to find some healthy and tasty meals my family will eat without blowing the grocery budget. Someone once told me that buying and cooking for the month can help. I tried that once and it was ok but I spent two days in the kitchen cooking so I wasn't real thrilled with that part. Besides we don't have a deep freezer.
Avatar n tn Tofu in healthy vegetarian cooking is a no no! Not a wise choice. However, organic and fermented or sprouted organic tofu is an excellent and healthy choice. You can research it or ask me what's the difference. As a matter of fact I just cooked tonight a sprouted organic tofu spicy vegetable curry served over jasmine rice. All my recipes are my very own and everything is cooked from scratch, using the safest and freshest ingredients available to me.
Avatar f tn What you also have to consider is that people who replace meat with soy in their diets generally become healthier, cutting down on cancer and heart disease especially, the two greatest killers in western society. We know that overconsumption of meat will increase these diseases, as well as inflammatory diseases such as arthritis.
4835773 tn?1360019421 And I don't understand why my grandparents' dogs live so long and die of very old age (last one was 19 - a big dog), when they are fed soup, whey and other leftovers, mixed with dehydrated bread, and mine died so young, even though dog foods in general are suppose to have all the vitamins our pets need. If you have the time, please read the articles and tell me what you think. Also, I would appreciate your advice, or other sources of information!

280891 tn?1261016650 Important to get the knowledge as to how we can follow a healthy lifestyle. Everyone must take control of their own life and address their individual illness by trying to eliminate the toxins and giving the body what it needs to get rid of the toxins which are in the body. Real healing comes from the body.
Avatar f tn Then bang on the third day into my vit d therapy i was hit with heart palpitations, fatigue, fast heart hate, high blood pressure, tight chest, thirst, panic and frequent urination. Has anyone had these symptoms and has anyone fixed them by slowly building your dose up over time ?????
Avatar m tn T that will keep on giving for awhile . . . but you can handle it. Keep up as you are with the healthy eating and exercise and KNOW that it will get better (it's that darn 'baby steps' thing again!). A HUGE congratulations on 16 days and moving . . . and thank you SO much for making me laugh and brightening my mood every time I read your posts; it's really good therapy for me (and others too, I'm sure :) Oh - and can you get Vitamin Water?
Avatar f tn I started to wash my sinus 3 times a day using salt with distilled water and turned myself to be a vegetarian, eating only steamed vegetable and consumed only water for many months but only little improvement. About 6 months ago, I visited TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Avatar n tn I would suggest a good healthy diet consisting of organic fruits and vegetables, salmon, multiviatamin mineral supplemt, broad spectrum probiotic a good start. Eat heart healthy another words. Space your meals out and eat 5 or 6 small meals a day as opposed to two or three big ones. This will help control your blood sugar spikes which can exacerbate the problem. Abstain from alcohal, smoking, and otc medications.
Avatar n tn www.feelgreat.awarenesslife.com). I figured why not lose some of the 60 extra pounds I was carrying in the meantime. as I became more aware of my body and health, I realized that my digestion, pms, exzema and fatigue were also completely related to my diet. I found out that I did have candida (mentioned above) and had to bite the bullet and finally become healthy. My sweet tooth and habit of eating starches and enjoying moderate alchohol with my friends had to go.
Avatar m tn I ate very healthy and even so I started to have severe problems with indigestion (flatulence and bloating). A few stomach spasms probably occured (EG. I drunk a cup of coffee one hour after lunch and my belly started to gurgle a lot. For following 1-2 days my digestion was very bad and I experienced strong flatulence after every meal). I had these problems for a few months and it was getting worse and worse.
282804 tn?1236837191 At lunch time, she asks if he would like something. A bowl of homemade soup, maybe, with (mmmm) a cheese sandwich? Perhaps a plate of snacks and a glass of milk? He declines. "It's this Viagra," he says, "it's really taken the edge off my appetite." Come teatime, she asks if he wants anything to eat. She'll go to the cafe and buy him a burger supper. Maybe a red pudding or a steak pie? Maybe he'd like a pizza microwaved?
251922 tn?1193786078 when I weighed in the first time, I almost had a heart attack, but can't do anything about that except perserve. I am certainly going to keep watching your progress, what number are you trying to reach?
Avatar n tn Since then I have been pretty healthy until recently. About 8 weeks ago I started getting these severe pains in my right side under my rib cage. When I take a deep breath it is like someone is stabbing me. I have no fever and this pain is re-occuring. Some days I am fine, others I can't move. I have been to the emergency room twice. The first time they told me my liver enzymes were real high but there was no sign of pancreatits and they sent me home with pain killers.
Avatar n tn A healthy lifestyle is what is important. If you have a healthy lifestyle, are active, have a good BP, blood sugar etc etc and you are at a steady weight...you are at a healthy weight. That is my non medical background but well researched opinion!
Avatar n tn I'm a 29 year old Male from Texas. I have a physical job loading airplane cargo, but I admit I don't eat very healthy. My Story: Two days ago I woke up with swollen hands with itchy palms. My right hand more puffy than my left. Yesterday I woke up with the same swollen hands as well as swollen feet. I went to my Doctor and he tells me it's weird, took blood and urine to test Kidney, Liver and Thyroid issues. Told me I will hear from him if anything comes back positive.
Avatar n tn long story short..this episode had possibly damaged my heart and the heart attack enzyme was elevated. i had a murmur surgically repaired 27 years ago and now doctors are saying that there could be electrical problems to the heart,etc.......wanted to keep me in hospital to do a catherization that would check heart electrical impulses but i convinced my primary doc to let me do it on a outpatient basis...
Avatar n tn When I make cookies/ biscotti, I usually cut out 1/3 to 1/2 of the sugar and it tastes much better (same for the butter). Although we eat very healthy, it does not mean that I will cut out goodies. I will overindulge there. Life would not be worth living without those. To be honest, I don't cut out all that butter and sugar for health reasons but because I don't like overly sweet and greasy food.

Avatar n tn Its hard to get the physical results I want without being able to reall incorporate a heart healthy cardio routine. Or should I just cut out the machine related cardio and stick to circuit training?? This is so strange to me!!
Avatar n tn Perhaps rather than us all taking cultures of bacteria for our intestines we should be taking cultures of healthy ENT staph aureus bacteria! I will be trying colloidal silver spray 2xday for 5 days and see if fixes.
Avatar n tn I was taken to the ER and was told that I had a heart attack. Now, I am only 30 but there is a reason for these symptoms. 1. There is a rare blood disorder named Polycythemia vera. This is the over-production of blood cells in the body that causes the blood to thicken and clot, and can lead to heart attacks & strokes. From this there is a disorder named Erythromelalgia. Erythromelalgia is broken down like this: erythros (redness), melos (extremity), and algia (pain).
Avatar n tn cant go out or even do a full day at work without the funny feelings of dizziness, and fuzzy feelings in my head feeling so delirious and not all there. The heart beat thing i get aswell which is horrible when you feel dizzzy as you start to think your having a heart attack or something. I also get bad headaches which i have been told are contributed by stress. I wish someone could help me.
Avatar n tn Since beginning Effexor 1 year ago, I have gained a combined total of 53 pounds. AND YES I EXERCISE AND EAT HEALTHY! At one point I even got a trainer and still couldn't lose weight. I am afraid to go off Effexor because I'm convinced that I'm "A Lifer" as far as needing medication fro depression.
Avatar n tn I explained to him that I have had multiple cardiograms and 24-hour halters and they have revealed nothing but a very healthy heart. He added that what I needed to have was what is called an “event monitor” to be carried for two weeks. He said this is the only way to “smoke” out heart irregularities that escape the cardiograms and the 24-hour halters. And that’s where my situation stands as of right now. On Monday I’m going to the clinic to be fitted with one of those apparatus.
Avatar f tn KH07.....My heart goes out to you being so young. It's one thing me going through this at my age but to see a child going through this is terrible. Maybe one day we'll get this fixed!!!! Hang in there!! To: SICKOFIT08.....A good name for them could be a**holes. I have named them a few times myself. At times I think we will just have to live with them. Then I get my second wind and start fighting again and doing research. As far as the cleaning goes I'm not as crazy as I used to be.
Avatar m tn I am a 23 year old healthy male. I recently had a full physical and the results were that I am in above average health. I have no diseases, do not use drugs, but drink on occasion. Anyways, just started noticing these strange symptoms, within the past few weeks. Nothing "brought it on" so to speak that I can tell of. It's been going on longer, but less noticeable, now since I do not talk sleeping meds any more, it's all that I can notice...
