Avatar n tn There are recipes galore on the internet. I mainly stick to the heart healthy and liver healthy recipes. It is a bit more expensive, but I have lost almost 20 lbs. in less than 3 weeks. This is not water weight either! I have cut out all sugar, salt, dairy, wheat, cocoa, and caffeine out of my diet. I also take quite a few supplements as well for for my hep c; which include milk thistle, MSM, saw palmetto, vitamin C, shark cartilage, and others.
1201598 tn?1265473722 You are going to have to work a little harder to get that protein in but it can be done. Do your homework and study up on a vegetarian lifestyle. Some ways you can get protein is soy, nuts and beans. My teenage daughter wanted to be a vegetarian for a few years so I had to learn how to cook vegetarian. She's not doing it so much anymore but I still use soy, like the soy crumbles in soups or the firm tofu in veggie stir fries. She also likes the Boca burgers, which is a soy burger.
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm a vegetarian and I just never cared for meat. I'm extremely picky and don't like many vegetables. Please give me some ideas of healthy, quick, vegetarian meals that aren't just variations of pizza and pasta. Thanks!
Avatar f tn So I'm thinking about eating vegetarian/vegan foods for a while and I was wondering if anyone had any low cal recipes I could use? Or some recipes with foods that have protein (because I don't know what vegetarian or vegan foods have protein..
Avatar f tn I am a vegetarian for 16 years now & I would like to know which foods are high in protein, energizing and can assist low blood pressure
Avatar f tn You just need to ensure you are eating a balanced diet and that you are getting the right nutrients. If you go to the Healthy Cooking Forum you will find lots of good recipes - many of them vegetarian and on the health pages there is some information about dealing with cravings and issues around vegetarianism and how to lighten up your cooking. Do ensure you are getting sufficient protein through beans and dairy. Good luck and do join our weight loss challenge.
4763883 tn?1359415784 A lot of grocery stores have a vegetarian section. In that section, they DO have vegetarian meat substitutes. I have used the "meat" crumbles in a lot of recipes and my family didn't know the difference. Good luck!!

Avatar n tn You can specify vegan recipes. The majority of their recipes are vegetarian, but if you take it one step further and go for the vegan recipes, you'll be able to avoid the dairy and the eggs. Or, look at the vegetarian recipes that call for milk and substitute with the rice milk. I would suggest going easy on the eggs, eventhough they're not actually dairy. Your daughter isn't allergic to them, because eggs aren't from lactating mammals.

599170 tn?1300973893 My teenage daughter went a couple of years being a vegetarian. I think she saw a show on slaughter houses or something and it turned her off. She decided she didn't want to eat animals. It did make things challenging for awhile there but I learned some new recipes using the soy crumbles or the firm soy in stir fry's, etc. They have a lot of good vegetarian things out there now to choose from. I came close to it but still like to eat fish and chicken.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have some yummy healthy recipes ? My boyfriend & I always resort to eating out because we never know what to cook . Help !
377493 tn?1356502149 s time to change our lifestyle. I am looking for easy recipes that are heart healthy. He is kind of a picky eater...I have a hard time getting him to eat poultry as he always say's it's dry (probably what I am doing to it..lol). Any help would be very much appreciated! Avatar f tn I have been a vegetarian for 17 years and am happy with that. However, sometimes I feel low in energy, especially as I often stand/am constantly on my feet for long hours at work. What's the best way to give myself the energy I need for those 10-14 hour work days? I find it hard to get motivated in the morning so need something to energize me for breakfast and then continually throughout the day. I love cooking and smoothies and would rather eat real food over taking supplements.
353148 tn?1293061164 There's a bunch of vegetarian recipes on here. Lots that can be easily converted, too.
Avatar f tn Take a look at the Healthy Cooking Forum if you get a chance. I'm posting a fair # of vegetarian recipes over there, although some do have fish. Vegetarians can eat just as unhealthily as meat eaters. It all depends on your choices. Carbs are not the enemy. Heavily processed foods with empty, simple carbohydrates are a problem if you rely on them too much. Post a typical days menu if you can. PM it to me if you don't want to post it.
