Avatar f tn Anyone with heart disease needs to know that there is no cure, and it takes total commitment in treatment. It will take some time to get the right combination of meds, building up the strength to exercise daily and of course, quitting some things we do that are not right for our well being.

Avatar n tn Seven years ago I had a mild heart attack and in ICU for several days with congested heart failure. I had a stent implant for a 98% blocked right coronary artery, 70% circumflex no intervention, and 100% blocked LAD. The LAD had developed collateral vessels (natural bypass) to supply blood to the area normally supplied by the LAD. I have been successfully treated with medication and today my heart has returned to normal size and effectively pumping blood into circulation.
Avatar f tn You have a slight leak in your tricuspid valve, but is the leak sufficient to cause the heart to over work? The right side of your heart basically pumps blood returned from the body through the Lungs and back to the left side. So any narrowings along the route can cause issues too. So, basically you want to know what tests they intend to run to establish the problem.
Avatar m tn Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a progressive muscle disease of the heart and there is no cure for any muscle disease. There are drugs that you can take to help relax the heart muscle so that it will allow the heart chambers to fill better. A Myoectomy surgery can also be done if there is an obstuction to the outflow tracts (HOCM). There is nothing you can do to slow down or reverse this disease.
Avatar m tn It can cause heart problems like heart block and tachycardia. I am not aware of it causing cardiomyopathy. Not to say it cannot though.
Avatar f tn Since it is a risk factor for heart disease and stroke, this is important to find out. The current recommended treatment is niacin in a dose of 1-3 grams daily. However, please do not take it without asking your doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn ] When tests are done in places where a disease is rare or absent (for example, Lyme disease in Australia), many positive tests will be falsely positive. [Faulty logic, basing the premise on the conclusion -- we don't have Lyme in Australia, therefore any positive tests are erroneous.] The tests to diagnose Lyme disease are technically complex and require specialist expertise.
