Avatar f tn If you have a health history of heart issues, disorders of the thyroid gland can worsen old cardiac symptoms or cause new ones, and can accelerate the underlying heart problem. Regardless whether your symptoms are thyroid or a heart issue related it seems you should be evaluated by a doctor. For instance, if thyroid related, that will effect normal cardiovascular function.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor, but I can't see how a defect such as this laying way below your heart, below the kidneys even, has anything to do with your heart and/or your stomach, but that, obviously, doesn't mean that you don't have heart disease. What is interesting to me about about your post is that that they have found "heavily calcified, nonobstructive plaque" in your Aorta.
Avatar n tn Other than a micro blockage causing such symptoms (this first thing which comes to mind in case of ischemic heart disease), there could be a possibility of some nerve in stomach getting damaged. In fact, in my case this could be one of the possibilities. What about your pulse rate? Does it go high when these symptoms appear? In my case the pulse remains normal. Aspirin may sometimes cause such damage to nerves in stomach.
Avatar m tn Women have different, more subtle symptoms of heart disease than men. Mild chest discomfort or none at all is possible along with back pain, fatigue and nausea. Because you have the number one risk factor, being a smoker, you need to get checked out. Call a local hospital and ask about your situation, they may have a program for you, but don't wait until it's too late.
642877 tn?1281799282 We have a strong family history of heart disease (everyone in our family gets it). I do know that when heart disease gets worse, the stomach will get worse after eating. My mother could eat only fruit at end stage heart failure.
Avatar f tn Welcome...What I have found with Heart Disease, is it takes a while to get the medications adjusted just right......I personally would try just a combination of Enapril AND Lasix...The lasix are very important for fluid accumulation which causes the shortness of breath... I also agree LMB, If you haven't done this already, try some homecooked dishes or high quality canned food.....It is much more appealing..... I wish you luck....
Avatar n tn For the past 3 1/2 years my wife has been suffering with frequent bowel movements w/stomach pains, fast heart rate and sweating. Everytime she eats or drinks anything 10-15 min later sometimes 25-30 min later she has a bowel movement and stays on the toilet for about an hour all the time. Her stool is usually very loose and the other day she had some white jelly or mucus like substance come out.During this time she has seen about 3 GI doctors and 2 bariatric doctors.
Avatar n tn The symptoms for acid reflux and heart problems are very similar and often one is mistaken for the other. I spent a whole year on acid reflux medication before having a heart attack. I kept trying to explain that the throat discomfort I had was something I had never experienced in my 46 years of life, but unfortunately that didn't seem to matter. I too never suffered shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn m a 38 year old female and for the last few months have been having some strange symptoms. My left shoulder aches, I have a terrible bloated/acid feeling in my stomach and a feeling that something just isn't right. A couple of weeks ago I went for a stress test (treadmill), echocardiogram as well as had a holter monitor for 24 hours. Everything came back normal and the cardiologist I met with said my heart is fine. Could something have been missed?
Avatar f tn I have a lot of digestive problems and recently had my hida scan. So some of my problems come from the gall bladder but I have wondered about celiac but not been tested. I can tell you there is a link between digestive disorders and the heart. MY digestion greatly affects palpitations etc. regardless of what a doc will tell you. I never throw-up but have had two attacks of what I consider gall bladder where I felt like I was throwing-up (dry heaves).
Avatar f tn These are the symptoms that I have: occasional burning pain in stomach, no other GI problems, good appetite, numbness in tip of the tongue, nausea, mild dizziness and headache, mostly like heavy head feeling, flushing of upper chest and neck. All blood work is normal; MRI of the brain negative, mildly enlarged thyroid with bilateral non vascularized nodules, positive for thyroid antibodies but normal thyroid function, negative for sjongren, lupus, RA, cholesterol ok, glucose level ok.
Avatar m tn I can really understand why you are asking questions, especially with your Fathers age. You have to remember that we are not Cardiologists, but we can offer options based on our perspective, what we would do in your shoes. Personally if this was my Father, I would leave the LMCA. It is borderline for intervention. It's definitely too risky for stenting and I doubt if stents would last very long in this case, they would likely re-block quickly.

Avatar m tn A small number of people who have MVP may need medicines to relieve their symptoms. Very few people who have MVP need heart valve surgery to repair their mitral valves. Rarely, MVP can cause complications such as arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) or infective endocarditis. Endocarditis is an infection of the inner lining of the heart chambers and valves. Bacteria that enter the bloodstream can cause the infection.
Avatar n tn The electrical wave causes the muscles in the heart and stomach to contract. In the stomach, the pacemaker is in the upper portion. The wave sweeps down across the antrum causing it to contract, grind up food, and expel small amounts into the duodenum, the first part of the small bowel. The normal rate of contraction is about three times a minute, much slower than the heart, but quite adequate for the job.
