This only takes about an hour and involves you walking on a treadmill or using medications to chemically stress your heart if you can't. Avatar m tn This is important because the left ventricle of the heart performs the greatest amount of work involved in pumping blood around the body. However, stress testing does not detect blood flow imbalances within the other three heart chambers. It is usually only high-grade stenoses (severe narrowing) of the larger coronary arteries that can be detected.

Other symptoms includes chest pain, SOB when climbing upstairs, nearly syncopal event every time SOB and tachycardia happens. Stress test showed severely tachycardic, nearly syncopal episode on exertion and 45% ejection fraction. Ecg showed Borderline left atrial abnormality and the echo, according to the readiologist, showed increased in bulk. (Which was neglected on the final report).

Avatar n tn I assume you had some kind of stress test? either stress echo or a nuclear scan? I say this because unless you match the heart motion in 2 states, relaxed vs stressed, you can't tell if it's reversible or not. So, you have 2 good words here 'mild' and 'reversible'. Mild means the heart wall is not affected much and reversible means the lack of blood flow is only occurring when the heart is under load showing there is sufficient flow at rest.
369861 tn?1306275686 I'm a newbie here on the heart disease site and not very sure what is going on. This all started with my getting sick and going to the ER thinking that I am having a heart attack. It turned out that my potassium was very low and my glucose level was low. Prior to this ER episode, my potassium level was hovering around 3.3 for about 4 months. At the ER it was 2.6! I had been on HCT 25 mgand Diovan Hct 320/25 mg for about 2-3 years. My primary doctor took me off the HCT.

Avatar f tn You cannot rule out clogged arteries without angiography, but at least you should ask for a stress test or stress echo test, as those tests may indicate coronary artery disease. You may have too low blood pressure, and it's important that you check the blood pressure now, preferably with a 24 hour monitoring. I suspect that your doctor initiated massive medication to control your serious hypertension of 200/120.

Avatar n tn t reach that level through fatigue or discomfort, they resort to an injection which stresses the heart. If you have heart disease, it suddenly feels like someone is sitting on your chest and breathing is very hard. This lasts for about 2 mins tops. They then take the patient to the scan room where they have to lay on their back, keeping still, for about 30 mins. Slowly you watch the machine go around the front of the chest as it takes images.
Avatar n tn This is because your heart is not getting enough blood under stress. Also, if your heart disease is more of a form of cardiomyopathy such as LVH or dilation of the heart, you may feel more rhythm issues. Everyone is different so everyone feels things differently. Unfortunately a heart attack is the first symptom 50% of those with heart disease experience so it is important to have this talk with your doctor.
Avatar n tn It is also a major cause of disability. There are many different forms of heart disease. The most common cause of heart disease is narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart itself. This is called coronary artery disease and happens slowly over time. It's the major reason people have heart attacks.
