Avatar n tn Hi Geri, I believe the answer to all of your questions in yes.
Avatar m tn Even when people find a new job quickly, there is an increased risk of developing a new health problem, such as hypertension, heart disease, heart attack, stroke or diabetes as a result of the job loss. The study will be published in the May 8 issue of Demography. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/05/090508045310.
Avatar f tn 3 in every 5 children in America are obese. This has all come about in the span of what? 30 years? I understand they will be checking into school menus as well as taking out all the sugary snacks in the vending machines at school. LOL, I think this is funny. Can we really not figure this one out and correct it? Could bad parenting be a factor? What say you?
Avatar f tn The standard, non-ILADS approach is the one taken by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and IDSA (Infectious Disease Society of America) -- their diagnosis for Lyme virtually requires (1) a documented bite by a deer tick and (2) an expanding reddish rash around the bite that looks like a bullseye. At least half of people with Lyme never saw the tick or had a rash (including me), and the other symptoms can be vague.
Avatar f tn I never lived life thinking about race or color, but it just hit me that I will be raising a black boy in America. Its so sad with all the police killings of unarmed blackmen in America. In fact it recently happened in my neighborhood. To think that one day my son will be a blackman in America scares me. Any other mothers having or have black children worry about this?
2170635 tn?1357911686 I was surprised to see in 'one born every minute USA' (I'm in the UK) a patient give in and ask for an epidural and the midwife reply "well yeah of course, you wouldnt let a dentist pull your teeth without pain relief" if you ask for it here you would be told "but you're doing so well, how about we wait 10mins and see then" they tend to discourage it here...
Avatar f tn We once thought maybe the immunizations were a factor but that has currently been ruled out as not having any substantial evidence to support it. Now in my grandsons case, he was born with it. Is this only in America or is this problem worldwide and what are your theories as to its origin.

Avatar f tn of Lyme disease were ID docs who are still in practice and are big in the professional association of ID docs, the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA). Their initial conclusions about Lyme are still the 'official' guide for diagnosis and treatment several decades later -- that being that Lyme is hard to get and easy to cure. While you may luck out and find a broadminded ID doc, I would not make an ID specialty my primary criterion for which doc I choose to see ...

Avatar f tn I wondered if anyone knows whether Lyme disease can only be caught in the US? When I heard about it I thought I might have found what is wrong with me, but it all refers to America which throws it out bit, although I did visit CA 5 years ago but no memorable bite or rash there. However, I did get bitten to shreds in Egypt last Nov and everything started to go wrong for me in Jan. I wondered if it is possible to catch Lyme disease from insect bites in Egypt?
Avatar m tn I would see an endocrinologist that specializes in the adrenals (as most endocrinologists specialize in diabetes and thyroind issues). A blood test for "renin level" might help show if there is an issue and if fludrocortisone replacement is needed. I don't know where you live but the premiere endocine specialist regarding the balance of water in the system is Dr. Joseph Verbalis at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Also, in LA, Dr.
Avatar m tn I had an echo in november, and a heart monitor in november for 2 weeks and for 4 weeks in december, x ray, blood in december, and countless ekgs. All normal aside from "benign" pvcs, my left atria and vent are mildly dilated but the doctor says its "perfectly healthy, high end of normal" which i refuse to believe cause then ehy not call it normal and not dilated? Anyway my concern is that last few days, my pulse/heartbeat had been really strong.

5948831 tn?1377198400 Hi, your symptoms of dizziness could be due to postural hypotension, a condition in which the peripheral arteries dilate, leading to pooling of blood in the peripheries. This in effect causes decreased circulation of blood resulting in dizziness/lightheadedness. This is more pronounced if the person stands up from a lying down position. This is detected by recording the blood pressure recordings in the sitting, standing and lying down positions.
Avatar f tn Normal pulmonary pressure is 15-30. So in theory, you could be classed as hypertensive in the pulmonary system, but not by much at all. Leaks that are trivial and mild are of no real concern. From the report stating that your right atrium and ventricle have reduced in size, I am thinking that they are just back to normal due to past higher hypertension. Yes they can return to a normal size again. Hearts are good at adapting in either direction, so long as the source of the problem is removed.
Avatar n tn I had just visited to a cordiologist for my heart problems..He assured me that i dont have any problem in my heart..then what about those eco test i had done six months back..how can i believe n to whom i should belive..i still feel the pain in chest n breathing problem is reduced but it happens sumtime when i get tired while doing minor household works..
2086874 tn?1332686494 I ws watching TV one evening and without any warning or symptoms I lost the vision in my right eye. It was plaque in the artery and is not reversible. A few months later though I had some flashes of light and lost the peripheral vision in that eye. (In the beginning it was just the vision in the top portion of my eye. I know it sounds weird, but different areas of the retina see different angles.) Did your vision return?
