heart

Avatar n tn i had a heart catheterization done a week ago.. i have formed a knot in the area of the catheter and now it throbs at site around to my lower back.. is this normal ?
Avatar f tn My mom had an angiogram done after almost having a heart attack! She was at the hospital for 4 days the catheterization went fine she had no blockage in her heart arteries wich was good!! But..About 3days after being released from the hospital she started to have an allergic reaction to the dye! Which the dr.s thought was strange so they ran some blood tests etc. They gave her meds for it and sent her on her way. Now I have a question it’s probably common idk?
Avatar m tn I am puzzled why the doctor did not explain to you the reason for a heart catheterization. Of course it must be related to why your son needed to go to a cardiologist in the first place -- symptoms? Prior diagnoses? Generally speaking, a heart catheterization is performed to assess coronary arteries (#, locations, any narrowing), heart valve (leakage or narrowing) or heart muscle (thickness, movement, or any holes where there shouldn’t be one).
Avatar m tn s very important that you see a heart doctor as soon as possible and have some basic tests done. Echocardiography should be performed to assess your heart size and function. Depending on what's found, further workup may include heart catheterization.
Avatar f tn Hi, Iam 46 years old for me they have done echo test and told that there is hole heart. there are telling me that i have to be operated .what should i do should i go for operation are there any tablets.
Avatar f tn As, you already had a echocardiogram, which rules out tamponade a cardiac catheterization should be done to rule out constrictive pericarditis. A CT or MRI scan can also help to diagnose chronic or constrictive pericarditis, by showing the thickening of the pericardial lining associated with these conditions. You need to get a cardiac catheterization for conclusion on this. Hope this helps.
6442441 tn?1381332741 This means there is one or more totally blocked coronary arteries and one has had damage done to the heart muscle because of a heart attack. There is an area (or areas) of the heart muscle that has become scar tissue (scarring, scarred) because of the MI. This area would not be able to make functional use of any oxygen even if blood flow to that area of the heart were completely restored.
Avatar f tn Blood work ruled out anemia, kidney or liver problems. I am scheduled to have a right heart catheterization on Wendsday. I am getting nervous about why out of the clear blue a healthy 57 year old would have all these problems. I am getting very nervous about the catheterization!!! Any information would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Can anything be done for her - artificial heart, heart transplant, etc. Originally, he told her she need a new valve and a defibulator, but has not mentioned it since. He has improved her heart a little, but this recent setback with her liver has gotten me extremely worried. Can a person get an appointment at your clinic without a referal, or does her doctor need to refer her for a consultation. She is hoping to get her social security Nov.1. She goes for her psycological evaluation Oct.
Avatar n tn The gold standard is the right heart catheterization. However when echos are done carefully by experience echo cardiographers the pressures estimated by echo usually correlate fairly closely to those obtained during cardiac catheterization. Echos can also provide some additional useful information regarding size and function of the right ventricle, severity of leakage of the tricuspid valve.
Avatar f tn My husband was just diagnosed with this due to high BP, he had a heart cath done yesterday and now he's home and has been coughing non stop. What can I do?
Avatar f tn Ah!.... I apologize for misleading you!. I walked myself down the catheter ablation path. which we often talk about here on the forum. To my knowledge basic cardiac catheterization does not involve that! I've had basic catheterization done before, although the entry point was in my right arm. The injected dye often has a short lived very warm sensation, but that's about it. Everything I noted above is the same though.
Avatar m tn Thank you. I think there is just posted elsewhere that the doctors have decided that I shouldn't have the catheterization. And, I'm not given a good enough reason for this sudden change of heart... except that, they've now decided - I haven't had any sudden changes.. And yet, my post stress echo ekg was a mess. I doubt that went away. I will give the CT radiation risks vs catheterization/angioplasty vs medication, exercise, a good deal more thought now.
Avatar n tn Hi I had a Heart cath done in June of 2008 every thing was perfect but I still have the pain and I am constantly worried that it is my heart. What are the chances that it still could be my heart? I also had all the other cardiac work up done. and everything was fine. Thank you. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/571652'>Time for another Heart Catheterization?</a>.
Avatar n tn I am a 59 year old male. In 1997 I had a heart cath done at Emory Heart Center in Atlanta results were as follows. Left Coronary artery has diffuse luminal irregularity. The proximal LAD before the first branch has a 30-40% stenosis. LM is very short. Ramus is normal. Right Coronary artery is angiographically normal. Since that time I have observed a diet with much less fat and red meats and have exercised regularly each week.
351404 tn?1299489130 s difficult to get a clear picture of your heart and lungs with a standard echocardiogram, your doctor may recommend a transesophageal echocardiogram A better test to evaluate includes a right heart cardiac catheterization and bypass TEE. I have provided information from the Mayo Clinic regarding diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension. ■Right heart catheterization.
Avatar n tn Hi, as you can see there have been controversial results from both the tests done. The stress thallium test has shown reversible defects. Reversible perfusion defect is an area of the heart muscle that does not receive an adequate amount of blood at stress (ischemia) but does so at rest (reversible ischemia). But CT coronary angiography does not reveal any defects.
Avatar n tn My cardiologist has ran every test possible and all have come back negative, which in itself is good.....But as of 2 years I have had pain in chest started on left side under left arm and has over time progessed to the center of my chest and now even as we speak a severe pinching under my left breast with onset of severe sweating.....
Avatar n tn Is there any reason to bother with a Cardiac Catheterization test if I've already been put on a beta bloker and statin? Or should we give the drugs time to work? Can drugs and exercise reduce restriction in an artery? I recently had a stress test that suggests ischemia. The next recommendation is to have a Cardiac Catheterization. But I'm getting inconsistent advice from my primary Dr., stress test Drs and follow on Cardiologist.
