Avatar n tn ve had a, what can be called a big heart attack, often times have low blood pressures after the event, and in those people, there isn't a goal blood pressure. The protocol would be to give the medicines that are usually given after a heart attack, and hope the blood pressure doesn't drop too much. A subsequent heart attack can occur when the bp is low, etc.
Avatar n tn How do you know that your heart stops beating? There are other things that can make you pass out like.... low blood sugar. But if your heart stopped beating...you would never know unless it happens while you're attached to a monitor. You need to see your doctor regarding this and find the cause.
Avatar n tn Hi Judy- very interesting question. You have mentioned several issues and I will address them separately. 1. Stress cardiomyopathy (CM)/"heart attack" - We see this quite often. Stress CM has several other names - "Tako Tsubo"/"broken heart"/apical-ballooning CM. It refers to a condition where (mostly) women develop chest pain after suffering some sort of emotional or physical stress, and the EKG and blood work suggest a significant heart attack.
Avatar f tn These symptoms would be the result of a low cardiac output caused by impaired and damaged heart walls because of the heart attack. I had a silent heart attack about 7 years ago. You shouldn't be overly concerned about the results of an EKG. Thanks for sharing your experience, and if you have any followup questions, you are welcome to ask. Take care.
Avatar f tn I have a friend - male- 68 who had a heart attack ~ 6 years ago. He takes a beta blocker - Coreg. I've known him for 3 years. During that time, he's always had, but now it's getting worse, a slow pulse & low Blood Pressure. Last night it was 84/54 pulse - 52. and he was feeling dizzy. Called the Dr. who said to drink fluids & take something salty - like saltine crackers. I just read up on Coreg - - beta blocker, and on low blood pressure.
Avatar m tn If you went to the hospitial within hours after your episode there are identifying markers....the marker CK-MB would show an increase above normal in your blood test about six hours after the start of a heart attack. It reaches its peak level in about 18 hours and returns to normal in 24 to 36 hours.a blood test. You probably don't need to go to your doctor if you have only fainted one time and you are in otherwise good health. Fainting is common and usually not serious.
326176 tn?1239515689 Does low EF of 26% following a heart attack portend a shortened span of life?
Avatar m tn Can you have a good chlosterol level - slight high blood pressure - normal tryglicerides and not have diabetes and still have a heart attack? I have been having chest pains off and on and do not want to over react when it happens and my endrocrinilogy Dr. said that all my numbers look good from my blood work so he really would doubt it has anything to do with the actual heart. I have a history of heart problems within my family and I am over weight - ?
Avatar f tn I am on Plavix for my Heart Attack and my husband is on Coumadin for a blood clot he had 3 years ago 1 month after he had broken his ankle and had to have surgery. I say he should be off the Coumadin already. He went back to work full time after the broken ankle and also lost 60 lbs. He says the Plavix is just as bad.
Avatar n tn A heart rate below 60 bpm is medically termed brachycardia. There are individuals that have a heart rate that is lower than normal, and these individuals are in very good physical condition. Brachycardia can be caused by Changes in the heart that are the result of aging. Diseases that damage the heart's electrical system. These include coronary artery disease, heart attack, and infections such as endocarditis and myocarditis.
Avatar n tn Could I have possible had a heart attack? I am a 38 yr. old female. Also, if I were to be okay for the evening and go see my doc tomorrow, would he be able to tell if I indeed had a heart attack with blood work or EKG? Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Your husband should be scheduled for an echocardiogram to determine if there was a heart attack!? If there were a heart attack, the results would be evident as there would be heart wall movement impairment. The impairment, if serious would reduce heart contractions and as a consequence a low cardiac output. The low cardiac output and if the underlying cause is not treated will eventually lead to heart failure (my experience).

Avatar f tn You are at very low risk of having a heart attack. Your pain is very unusual for said disease, and you already had a negative stress study. And it sounds as if this may be a manifestation of panic or anxiety disorder. I would speak to you r PCP about this.
Avatar n tn recently had an attack. Heart rate was 170 +. Blood pressure was so low EMS could not get a pulse for close to 30 mins. Spent 7 hrs at hospital running test. also had a 2d echo. everything checked fine. end result they could not tell me what had happened. Anybody have an idea what it could've been?
Avatar m tn I had a n MI a year ago and was put on usual meds. because of cocerns about low heart rate - resting sometimes under 40 bpm - I was taken off beta blockers. However still have rate in low 40s and am due to be fitted with a Holter monitor to record it over 24 hours. No symptoms apart from cold feet and fingers, and occasional dizziness if standing suddenly. What is the danger of no treatment? Is the only treatmnt a pacemaker?
