Avatar m tn A man beside me told me that he had had a heart attack a week ago. He said that the only pain he felt was in his left arm. He also had some numbness in his arm. He went to the ER. They rushed him into the cath lab and placed a stent in one of his coronary arteries. He saved himself any real damage to the muscle of the heart, by acting on his instinct. He looked just fine to have had a heart attack a week before.
237039 tn?1264258057 Diagnosed with angina and arrythmias. I am afraid that I will get used to this and shrug off what might be an actual heart attack and not just angina. Anyone else comment on this?
Avatar n tn First of all, I do not take dangerous drugs. I don't know where you got that idea, unless you think the normal heart failure medications are dangerous. How seriously should one take the fact that s/he could die at a moment's notice from a second heart attack, because he s/he is waiting for coronary artery bypass surgery? How seriously should one take the fact that they have Diastolic Heart Failure?

Avatar n tn Your chance of having a heart attack are slim to none :) BUT sometimes children have congenital (at birth) heart defects and symptoms appear at an early age. You need to bring this pain/symptom to the attention of your parents, and have them schedule you an appointment with your family doctor. He/she in turn can refer you to a cardiologist if necessary. Advice from me; don't hang around heart disease forums or it will lead to heart disease of the mind.
Avatar n tn So sorry to hear this Bip. Is it a wonder that heart disease (heart attacks) are the #1 killer of women and men? The "medical system" requires that you take responsibility for yourself. I cannot stress this enough for peeps posting here with chest pain. I hate to sound like a preacher or know-it-all, but I have paid the price for this knowledge, in that you have to listen to your own body and know when it is time to act. I have rode in more than a few ambulances.
Avatar n tn Are any arrhythmia drugs OK for someone who had heath damage from a heart attack and has a fib? This discussion is related to Palps and twinkling lights.
Avatar f tn My question about this is, how can this be a heart attack? Do heart attacks "go away" on their own??? I didn't think that was possible.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had my band fitted in May 2014 and since Aug 2014 have had approx 18 occasions of me visiting the A & E thinking I am having a heart attack. The pain is in the centre of my chest, through to my back. I feel sick and retch but have no food in me to come up. I belch constantly when I get this pain but it gives no relief. The pain lasts for up to 4 hours. I have had 2 ultra sounds but they can never find my gall bladder so am now waiting for my doctor to get back to me.

Avatar n tn I am a 51 year old man who had CABG X 6 surgery in July 1994. I had a heart attack prior to surgery with some muscle damage. Following surgery I faithfully attended Cardiac Rehab and did my best to get back where I was prior to all my troubles. I was a very physically energetic and active person but since surgery I have never been the same. I suffer chronic pain in my breastbone area and middle back, as well as, swelling in the leg the veins were removed from.
Avatar f tn Some men and women leave the ER only to go home and have a heart attack. More women die of heart disease than many other conditions, such as breast cancer, combined.
434278 tn?1324706225 I failed to mention, the M.S. hug can also be confused with heart attack symptoms. Some describe it as very similar. My experience is I do get afraid when pain first hits, I think heart attack.. Then I soon realize it is my usual hug pain..
Avatar f tn Can a heart attack go on for 10 hours? How can I tell if it's a pulled muscle of heart attack? For the last several years she would go through phases where she would have an extremely fast heart beat. Her doctor would put her in the hospital and give her a drug to help regulate the beat. However she has now come to the point where she can bearly walk across a room with out being physically exhausted.

326176 tn?1239515689 I have had a heart attack on 10th october 2007. I sought immediate medical attention(within half an hour). I was put to thrombolytic therapy and was put in the cardiac care unit for some days and discharged. At home I was advised total rest for several weeks. The weekly check-ups indicate that I am returning to normal activity. I would like to know in this regard whether medications alone would be enough to cure my ailment .I am not sure whether I will be put to angiogram and angioplasty.
