Avatar f tn Any veggie ladies out there? Any tricks or tips you've used to stay healthy during your pregnancy? Very been on chia seeds at the moment to get the omega 3s! Generally, I'm very healthy- eating organic, staying away from processed foods, taking my vitamins, daily moderate exercise, all that good stuff. Also my labs have always looked great. Just wondering if anyone has any tips I can work into my diet . Thanks in advance!!!
Avatar n tn Hey there. I have a very overweight friend. Guess what happened when she got pregnant? She lost a bit of weight. :>)) That's really common. Because you burn more calories when pregnant. You don't need to eat any more in terms of quantity or calories --- but have a pregnancy going which burns more. Make sure you get lots of protein when vegan/vegetarian and you should be good. Keep exercising and yes, don't diet. Just don't increase how much you eat.
1051017 tn?1349636853 i am a vegetarian and im wondering if anyone out there can give me some good recipe ideas for when i do eventually get pregnant? im not vegan but i do struggle to eat well. any ideas?
Avatar f tn My first pregnancy I was young and had been a full on vegetarian for 5 years. My mom tells me even as a child I was never big on eating meat so cutting it out of my diet came natural. Being pregnant was rough. A lot of the meat substitutes I enjoyed tasted terrible and made me sick. When I asked the doctor about it he said I needed a balanced diet of protein and it was especially important because I'm anemic.I started incorporating more lentils, soy, even eggs and fish to satisfy my mom.
Avatar f tn t getting the recommended amount of protein during pregnancy. However, you can have a very healthy pregnancy while being vegetarian, you can find lots of info about proper diet/nutrition online. Its also normal to have not gained any weight that early in pregnancy.
1201598 tn?1265473722 You are going to have to work a little harder to get that protein in but it can be done. Do your homework and study up on a vegetarian lifestyle. Some ways you can get protein is soy, nuts and beans. My teenage daughter wanted to be a vegetarian for a few years so I had to learn how to cook vegetarian. She's not doing it so much anymore but I still use soy, like the soy crumbles in soups or the firm tofu in veggie stir fries. She also likes the Boca burgers, which is a soy burger.
Avatar f tn What you can do is eat approximately 2000-2200 calories per day and consume a healthy diet. Recommend eating a Heart Healthy diet which will give you the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body and baby needs. Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet and a moderate fat diet means = using polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
1403867 tn?1281009744 So, I know that the common healthy weight loss goal is about 2lbs per week. Is there a different recommended weight loss goal per week for women with PCOS? Also, does anyone have any tips for how to deal with the emotional trip of not losing weight as fast as others/you would like?
1530658 tn?1299766324 I am curious to hear from other vegetarians who are ttc and who have already given birth and are raising their kids vegetarian as well. I moderate my soy intake and I do still eat cheese and seafood.

Avatar n tn Are there any other vegetarian mums to be out there? I'm 7 weeks 1 day and I'm starting to get cravings, but what I'm craving is meat :( I'm really wanting red meat and chicken. I'm trying to eat lots of iron and protein rich foods to curb the cravings but it's not working!
Avatar f tn I'm not exactly thin, I've had weight issues but I've recently been trying to eat healthy. I'm not huge though. If it's something with my change of diet, like becoming a vegetarian, will my period come back if I go back to not being a vegetarian? I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions but this is the first time my period has not come since I first got it back when I was 12, so I'm deffinitley thinking it was something with becoming a vegetarian this month.
Avatar f tn Is it easier to lose weight being a vegetarian? I am trying to stay away from red meat, or meat in general. I eat dairy products and vegetarian foods. I really don't miss the meat. If anyone knows of a vegetarian weight loss diet I would really appreciate it. S.
Avatar f tn Hello all!!! Thinning about changing my eating and going RAW... Wondering if anyone here is vegetarian or vegan and how does it work... Saw an article in my Parents mag but can't find the article... Have seen some things on raising kids in that lifestyle but nothing about pregnancy ... Avatar m tn I just wanted to find out I have had low iron for a few Years I have never taken iron tablets but recently have decided to become vegetarian and replace the meat which I only ever really ate chicken for the iron tablets.
Avatar n tn t always have to have iron during pregnancy sometimes you produce enough on your own but that would be something you would wanna check with your doctor... And also most people that I know that take the gummies usually take more than one a day because they lack less than the pills but I know everyone can't take pills...
Avatar f tn I have been a vegetarian for 17 years and am happy with that. However, sometimes I feel low in energy, especially as I often stand/am constantly on my feet for long hours at work. What's the best way to give myself the energy I need for those 10-14 hour work days? I find it hard to get motivated in the morning so need something to energize me for breakfast and then continually throughout the day. I love cooking and smoothies and would rather eat real food over taking supplements.
8769357 tn?1402719875 I was a vegetarian for about 6 months before finding out i was pregnant, i wanted to stay vegetarian and lasted 2months into pregnancy and couldn't anymore, all i craved was chicken!
Avatar f tn I have no idea what dishes I should cook. I never cook vegetarian food before. I want something simple and easy. Any suggestions please? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I plan on going back to being vegetarian and still breast feeding once baby is born in 3 weeks (I'm beih induced). do you have any tips on what I can supplement or things to do so my supply doesn't run out and my baby gets what she needs through my milk?
Avatar n tn There are many good vegetarian protein sources. Nuts, beans, higher protein whole grains and seeds and grain-like foods. I'd go buy a few books on vegetarian cooking. But know that not everyone is equipped to do well as a vegetarian -- most vegetarians do it for ideological reasons and it is harder to get all your nutrients as a vegetarian, particularly methionine and B12, so you do have to learn how to do it well.
