Generally, I'm very healthy- eating organic, staying away from processed foods, taking my vitamins, daily moderate exercise, all that good stuff. Also my labs have always looked great. Avatar f tn I was vegetarian for yrs before pregnancy but im eating small amounts of meat now only because I wasn't getting the recommended amount of protein during pregnancy. However, you can have a very healthy pregnancy while being vegetarian, you can find lots of info about proper diet/nutrition online. Its also normal to have not gained any weight that early in pregnancy.

Avatar f tn What you can do is eat approximately 2000-2200 calories per day and consume a healthy diet. Recommend eating a Heart Healthy diet which will give you the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body and baby needs. Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet and a moderate fat diet means = using polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.

Avatar n tn Hey there. I have a very overweight friend. Guess what happened when she got pregnant? She lost a bit of weight. :>)) That's really common. Because you burn more calories when pregnant. You don't need to eat any more in terms of quantity or calories --- but have a pregnancy going which burns more. Make sure you get lots of protein when vegan/vegetarian and you should be good. Keep exercising and yes, don't diet. Just don't increase how much you eat.

Avatar f tn Look up recommended servings of each group for pregnant women, and what a serving actually looks like. Don't stop eating protein and grains, just make healthy choices about what to eat. Whole grains, lean meats, etc. Same with dairy. Also, go for walks. It's healthy low impact exercise.

For the purpose of consuming essential fatty acids, especially Omega 3, is it safe to take PrimaCare mineral supplements with my prenatal vitamins. These mineral supplements have 1 mg of folic acid and some iron on top 800 mcg of folic acid and 28g of iron included in the generic OTC prenatals that I use. Is this overdose of folic acid and iron harmful?

From what I've read about the two new drugs, neither is preferable for pregnancy. I was wondering which of the two drugs is the lesser evil. Avatar m tn It's possible that going the recommend 1480 calories is too much for your body or is way too little. Next is diet. Now healthy food is a bit of a misnomer. Your body needs a balanced diet. Basically a salad is amazing, but if all your eating is vegetables you probably aren't getting enough protein for your body. Also if you have a ceasar salad with egg, bacon, chicken and a whole egg dressing that can be half of a daily food intake!
Avatar n tn I don't know about the heart rate, but I wanted to throw in a word about vitamins. I think you should definitely be taking a prenatal vitamin. Even if you have the most healthy diet it is still very hard to get all the vitamins you need every day. You especially need increased amounts of folic acid right now. Of course, it's best to get these nutrients from food, but a vitamin gives you a little more support.

I have also noticed that I am breaking out on my back like I did when I was pregnant with my son. When I was pregnant before the test showed up postive before I was late. It is not like me to be late. However I am having the cramps that keep sending me to the bathroom thinking that AF has come again.

Take foods rich in iron like spinach and liver (if you are non vegetarian).Take diet high in protein, sprouts, fruits and vegetables. If you are vegetarian, you need to up your intake of iron and protein, either take a stronger supplement, or give in and have a steak. Cow liver is also abundant in iron. There's my two cents for ya.
