Avatar f tn My husband was one of 7 kids and then his parent, so 9 people. His mom sure made the budget spread out!! I think one thing with kids that is important is food they'll actually eat. Do you ever do anything like substitute ground chicken for ground beef? That has really helped me stay more to the lean meats while pleasing my kids with things like spaghetti for dinner (which you can spread a long way).
Avatar f tn Any kid friendly casserole substituting ground beef with ground chicken or turkey. My boys like meatballs made with ground chicken and a simple red sauce with whole wheat pasta. Anything home made rather than out of the box that you can choose the ingredients for can be more healthy and kids will probably eat. Home made low fat mac and cheese verses out of the box. My kids do love a baked chicken whole. They eat the legs--- I pull the skin off.
203342 tn?1328740807 Since I started back to work full time I'm struggling to find time to make healthy meals since most take awhile to cook. I've never been much of a cook to begin with, either! I find myself buying ready made foods that heat up fast or fast food on the nights I'm tired, have hungry people to feed, and no time to cook. I know that's not the healthiest or most cost efficient way to provide meals for my family.

4584905 tn?1358592724 also grating veggies into things is a great way to sneak it in. I love grating zucchini into ground beef and ground turkey when making all kinds of things. just grate one or two green zucchini and cook it down to reduce the moisture in it then add your ground meat and cook like normal. specially in tacos or sloppy joes you cant tell its there at all.
168348 tn?1379360675 Maybe I'll do a post about Heart Healthy Meals. We tried a pasta made out of wheat last night with meatballs in gravy w/o sour cream (yes, a biggie to let go of in the beginning stages of eating more healthy) and they didn't like the wheat pasta ... but, I tried -- as got the idea in an above post.
Avatar n tn When she started to have a loss of appetite and weight gain I fed her homecooked meals of ground beef, rice, potatoes, and mixed vegetables - as much as she will eat throughout the day. This has been for about three weeks now. The only other details I can offer is that a few days before she got sick we walked through a wooded trail in Philadelphia where both dogs were not on a leash and meandered through the bushes and such.
670955 tn?1226601500 Therefore the problem with crystals starts with a grain-based diet. Foods made with grains (corn, wheat, rice etc) can cause alkaline urine in dogs and cats. Magnesium reacts with alkaline urine to cause crystals. Most "prescription/dissolution/preventative" clinic diets take out the magnesium to prevent this reaction, even though magnesium is essential, especially for the nervous system. Reducing magnesium may cause a host of other negative health issues.

Unlike grains with a higher glycemic index (like rice), barley can help support stable blood sugar levels in dogs. The fifth ingredient is chicken fat. Chicken fat is obtained from rendering chicken… a process similar to making soup in which the fat itself is skimmed from the surface of the liquid. Avatar f tn Hi, It is very easy to make good healthy home made dog food that is *much* better for your dog than the types sold in stores, and not really any more expensive. I use brown rice, chicken, a variety of veggies (whatever I have on hand - usually including celery & carrots & broccoli) and make up a big batch and put it up in serving-size plastic containers in the fridge to dispense all week.
Avatar n tn This should be split into two or more servings at different times during the day, preferably with meals. If you are not used to these levels, start with less and work up over a few days. An extra teaspoon can always be taken if you start to feel bad - indigestion, a headache, dizzy, a panic attack starting, etc. The Multiple Formula The multiple formula I recommend is Twinlab Maxilife Co-Q10 Formula, Multiple Vitamin/Mineral/Antioxidant capsules.

973741 tn?1342346373 She used some chicken mixed with taco seasoning as a topping, some ground beef, some beans, lettuce, tomato, different types of cheeses and vegis. She said it was a big hit. Avatar n tn Even a hamburger patty from home made with fresh ground beef from the supermarket would be far better than McDonald's. This would be a far healthier approach if you need to watch your weight and your friends don't seem to need to. Don't forget to bring a salad with your lunch. Just don't drown it in dressing. Some fat in the diet is good, and we can't live without some. A small drizzle of olive oil on your salad would be better.

I've also wanted an Arby's roast beef with cheese...mmm...I'm hungry!!! I just don't know what to eat...nothing I have looks good at all!
Avatar f tn You need variety in your diet. Eating just chicken is not only boring, but you will not be getting nearly enough nutrition in your diet. I gave you a lot of suggestions in the PM I sent you. I'm not sure if you read it yet, but if you havent you might get some ideas from that.. Typically you shouldnt be buying a ton of processed food with artificial ingredients, high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils.
506791 tn?1439846583 I am a firm believer that vices in moderation are what keep us mentally and emotionally healthy, and interfere little with physical health. I'll start with four simple side dishes, which can be used as the main dish. All of these are pasta based, simple, filling and three are pretty darn healthy. Normally, after draining, I will add in a little butter or olive oil to the pasta, and toss it. This helps keep it from sticking. One can also commit sacrilege and rinse the pasta after cooking.

Avatar m tn Cattle raised in filthy conditions, pumped full of growth hormones and fed diets composed mostly of genetically modified corn are three major reasons humane, grass-fed ground beef is a better alternative for your burger. But they aren't the only ones, says Pollan. While a steak or roast usually comes from a single animal, processors of ground beef combine meat from hundreds of animals. "This vastly increases the risk of contamination," he says.
