Common Questions and Answers about Healthy lunch athletes

20790871 tn?1507165021 I am a healthy 20 year old female. I am a former collegiate long-distance runner; I stopped running competitively a few months ago, but still run and workout regularly. I noticed that shortly after I started college (2 years ago), my hair stopped growing completely. It used to be long and thick, but over the past couple years it has become very thin and damaged and simply doesn't grow. In addition to this, I have also been getting acne on my jaw and neck-which I didn't use to get.
389974 tn?1331018842 These are truly healthy choices. The program is run by the dean of the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. She defends the program. Maybe its time to send a nice letter to Tufts, and ask how they feel about the good name of their university being associated with beliefs like this.
Avatar m tn Hey, I'm currently at a healthy 13.5% body fat but I'm an athlete so I'm really trying to drop that down to under 10%. I've been doing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) in between weight lifting days and eating primarily proteins, healthy fats, and a small amount of carbs for breakfast and after excersise. I'm trying to lose as much fat as possible in the next two weeks.
Avatar n tn I always feel sick after I exercise and I just don't feel the need to eat until about two hours later. I just don't feel it's healthy. I also almost never eat before. Is that bad too?
Avatar m tn A slow heart rate is sometimes normal and can be a sign of being very fit. Healthy young adults and athletes often have heart rates of less than 60 beats a minute. In other people, bradycardia is a sign of a problem with the heart’s electrical system . It means that the heart's natural pacemaker is not working right or that the electrical pathways of the heart are disrupted.
219241 tn?1413541365 Sure there are a ton of really healthy people too, but when I saw the morbidly obese waddling toward me, I had to run in case one fell over and squished me! I know that sounds rather harsh, but I can see why these Americans are so big...I mean EVERYTHING here is big...the glass of water you get at the restaurant is BIG, the napkins are BIG, the plates are BIG, the serves are BIG, cups of soft drink are BIG, packaging for food is BIG...unbelievably easy to stack on the weight here.
973741 tn?1342346373 I guess I'm coming down on the side of hydration and electrolytes being more important in those activities than food provided they ate well at breakfast and lunch. So how serious of athletes are they? Do they have coaches who played seriously and therefore would have been coached up by nutritionists (all serious athletes have nutritionists nowadays)? I know what older athletes would do -- take supplements and drugs that speed them up. Not so good for kids.
Avatar f tn At the moment i have a medium sized lunch, and a medium sized dinner at about 7 in the evening. For breakfast i'm stuck :/ as three days in the week i have training early at 7 30ish, and i usually eat before and after, then have a snack at breaktime (nutrigrain bar usually) and if i don't have training i have some cereal and find that i'm hungry only a few hours later at about 10 o'clock! It's from when i wake up to lunch i need advice on.
Avatar f tn It was difficult for me b/c I have 2 little one's that could eat cereal for breakfast lunch and dinner. I think Atkins is a wonderful way of life but for me I just couldn't handle it for very long. I think this time around I might try calorie cycling. That way I can have a variety of foods but still (hopefully) maintain my weight loss. Has anyone had any luck with this diet? What other diets have you found successful after hcg? Thanks!

Avatar n tn This pranayam will build up your immune system and improve your lung function. The extra oxygen going into the blood, will make the cells healthy. The kapalbhati will stimulate the liver and kidneys(to regulate blood cell production), as the stomach contracts. When you can do these breathing techniques for more than 15 minutes, twice a day, you will start to notice the benefits. Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
1063126 tn?1447605326 I'm a 23 year old male, relatively fit, 6'2, 198lbs.... For well over a year now I have been trying to lead a healthy lifestyle by all means. Avatar n tn Let the poor boy eat a normal, healthy diet, a breakfast, lunch and a dinner. Eat those veggies and fruits and complex carbs. Stay away from too much fatty or high protein foods. They are harder to digest and will make you sluggish. Just eat smart and eat less. You sound plenty lean and on quite the intensive program. If anything you are overtrained and need to take a few days off here and there. Overtraining is the most common problem among young athletes.
1211508 tn?1343083205 I'm 42 now, I can understand why not too many professional athletes are in their 40s. When I was younger I didn't give much thought to why people didn't dominate sports when they got past mid 30s, it was just a natural thing. But now that I'm there, I understand. I guess somehow I didn't think it would happen to me (aging). HAH! was I wrong. Some days I feel stronger than others. Like right now I can run around like I was 19. Other days not so much. It goes up and down.
Avatar f tn However I'm wondering whether i should perhaps try phase three of the eating plan which is high in carbohydrate BUT for elite athletes. I'm still very much on the learning curve and hope someone is able to give me a few useful pointers. I'm not gonna give up on p90x as I'm really enjoying the exercise regime more than I've ever enjoyed any other fitness DVD, it's just the diet causing temporary problems.
Avatar m tn Regular breakfast after 30 minutes. Morning snacks around 10am means some fruits and water again. 15 minutes before lunch, fruits and water again. Then regular lunch meal. Afternoon snacks around 3-4pm, fruits and water again. 15 minutes before dinner, fruits and water again. Then regular dinner meal. Late evening snacks mean fruits and water again. In just 3 short days, I feel different. The best result is that the smell coming from the pores on my nose and the sides are gone!

Avatar f tn I would eat a good size salad but it was only 75 calories (and that was my lunch) so now I add some FF cheese to it and some chicken or something of more protien I am just so frustrated at the lack of weight loss. I won't take pills or surgery for weight loss, but I'm beginning to worry that something is off with my lack of ability to lose weight. I'm not sure but I don't think that I digest properly expecially since my gallbladder was removed. Congrats on the weight loss!!
Avatar n tn I have shared this before on this site, but I only get PVC's after I eat. I noticed that I would get them each day after lunch as I would put my shoes on to go back to work ( I eat at home). As I pulled my leg up to tie my shoe, they would start up. If I stand up and put my shoes on they do not come. I am controlling them by merely doing wierd things like that. When I told my Doctor about this, he still had a spaced out look on his face as I left...kindof a duuhh look.
1554647 tn?1316830820 And Lyme was going to be my companion on that long march, wanting its own schedule of lunch breaks and detours off the roadway. I was still in charge, but Lyme demanded time, attention and energy from me. It's not like a baby, where the baby's needs and demands are a duty AND a pleasure, because while changing a diaper itself is not fab, the interaction with the baby is nice, the baby is happy with the attention, and diaper rash has been averted yet one more time.

Avatar f tn Diary products are also high in potassium. Try to make yourself a healthy diet by eating a moderate amount of these foods before choosing to have potassium supplements. Make sure that potassium supplements are prescribed to you by the Doctor.

Fruit is fine, but fruit drinks need to be drunk in small quantities. The whole fruit although contains fructose (fruit sugar) also contains minerals and vitamins as well as fibre and the energy is broken down slowly in the body compared to the fruit juice.

Avatar n tn Our Son is in Track and has always been healthy. He got shin splints this year and the doctor put him on Vioxx for the inflammation. He started getting heart racing and palpitations and when he ran his last race, he got a severe headache. We thought he was just weak because he had not eaten since lunch and it was 9:00 at night and once he had some sugar he felt a bit better.
Avatar n tn Your brother has every right to be afraid. He loves you very much and wants you to stay healthy. He aslo has to sleep so he cannot watch you 24/7. This is not a burden to put on him because we are all responsible for our own actions. I am happy to hear that you have only drank a few times. Remember, your friends are only friends if they wish you to stay healthy and respect your decision not to drink. Please let us know how you are doing and I'm sure there will be more posts to follow.
