377493 tn?1356505749 It seems from what people have posted at least in the mental health forums that the health care system is a bit more conservative as regards what medications are approved for what purposes and what might be considered standard options on formularies but it would help if I knew more specifics. Thanks.

1040516 tn?1253036624 The North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA) has raised awareness of the value of pets, and pet health insurance, by designating September as National Pet Health Insurance Month. 163305 tn?1333672171 (like I have myself on many occasions) I've known many people who could easily afford good healthcare, and/or who were fully insured, and/or who had bad health habits like smoking/drinking etc, and yet they never went to the doctor (again including even myself at times). They just didn't want to and/or were not terribly interested nor aware of their own bodies and the care of it. Simple as that.
1530342 tn?1405020090 S. residents. As a broader Medicaid safety net picks up more low-income people, new health insurance markets called exchanges will offer subsidized private coverage to the middle class. Both parts of the strategy take effect in 2014, at the same time that most Americans will be required to carry health insurance or pay a fine.
1219499 tn?1410753330 After doing a bit more research on the net I'm convinced my body attacks my pregnancies right after implantation which is why I can't make it past 6 weeks. I don't think I produce enough Early Pregnacy Factor (EPF) which is what naturally supresses my immune sytem therefore it doesn't attack the growing fetus. Because New Zealand is so backward when it comes to fertility I can't get intralipid infusion or any similar treatment done here which I'm sure would help me carry to term.
Avatar n tn I think most east coast state has mandatory insurance coverage. not here in the bay area, ca. I have United Healthcare, but already max out my life time limit for infertility. I called Blue Shield and Blue Cross, and they said none of their plan covers infertility. I also have a feeling that it depends on your company if they offers to employees and if you work for state too. Insurance in California won't offer this type of plan to individual directly. Sad huh..

901131 tn?1293748153 $561 Canada $144 The Bureaucracy is Growing Faster Than Direct Care The net result of commercial health insurance in the United States has been an explosion of bureaucracy at all levels of the health care system. Avatar m tn In the United States health care is very expensive and is not a 'free ride' for most. Therefore, I expect a standard of care to be generally in line with the high costs. If it costs little to nothing, then I don't expect much. However, when it costs an arm and a leg, I expect a lot.
206807 tn?1331939784 In any event, what’s apparent is that countries — and most parts of the United States — that invest heavily in all their children’s health care, nutrition and education end up with a much stronger ladder of opportunity and access. And that’s something we can change. So if we want to restore the American dream, we now have the beginnings of a path forward. http://articles.washingtonpost.
535822 tn?1443980380 Food banks are experiencing more demand than ever before and those offering free healthcare are absolutely swamped. And every single measure of government dependence has gone way up since Barack Obama entered the White House. For example, since Barack Obama became president the number of Americans on food stamps has gone up by 45 percent. Just think about that. At this point the federal government is helping to feed an all-time record 46.5 million Americans every month.
649848 tn?1534637300 [7] Despite these mediocre results in objective parameters of health outcomes, the United States spends far more than any other country for its healthcare. In 2000 the United States spent 13% of its gross domestic product on national health expenditures.[8] The next highest spending countries were Germany at 10.6% and France at 9.5%.
206807 tn?1331939784 So you get the care that a government funded healthcare system can sustain. What you get is the same healthcare for everyone except for those who can afford to pay for their healthcare out of the country. You have a long wait in an emerg. It takes 6-8 hours if you go in an early evening after work. That is not necessarily a bad thing. It makes people really think if they need to go see a doctor or not.
607502 tn?1288251140 If this were the United States I'd know exactly how to advise you but I know that in the United States any denial of coverage can be appealed. I was denied for the Zofran on a couple of levels until I recieved coverage. However, there is one resource that is the same in Australia. Thankfully they have independent living centers and they can assist you as here with appeals as regarding prescription coverage: http://www.ilcaustralia.org/home/default.
1530342 tn?1405020090 04 PM ET By Ramesh Ponnuru In late September, right before the Affordable Care Act's insurance exchanges opened, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that success for the new law would look like "at least 7 million" enrollees.
Avatar m tn Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection remains one of the major health care challenges worldwide. In the United States, it is considered the most common chronic blood-borne infection, affecting up to 4 million Americans. Although the incidence of new cases of HCV infection has been decreasing, the prevalence of chronic liver disease associated with HCV infection is thought to be on the rise.
899491 tn?1243777227 The Brit's are always ahead of the curb with mental health issues. For example, the Brits are more upfrontl about mental health issues in the teaching profession. We Americans just brush the issue under the carpet and pretend that teachers don't have problems. Brits were the first to deal with children bullying other children. Brits were the first to deal with mobbing in the workplace. Hip..hip...hooray!

Avatar n tn I rehabed a 101 year old woman who couldn't talk, move or have facial expression and was essentially vegatative and unresponsive. The best rehab in the United States turned her out to die. Nine months later The is walking talking, just regained full use of her hands and smiling and happy as moon- pie. She fed the pigeons in the park yesterday. During the course of the rehab I fired her rehab specialists, three nurses, four doctors and ran through thirty one aides which were sequentially fired.
Avatar f tn } I think a point Susans thread brought out is who's going to do more good for health care, make changes, etc. Helping health care, making changes is my main concern, whatever the disease may be. X is correct tho, in that it is up to many of us to change, make awareness in hep c. Quick note on the 'war' our soldiers, etc. While HATING seeing our people go fight, get killed, leave home and so on..….
Avatar n tn I'm not quite sure why you are trying to propose a 6 month testing regime when even the CDC and official UK (and most of the health agencies controlling the Western world)guidelines say that 3 months is conclusive. Different doctors may prefer to be more or less conservative, but in the end, that is up to them, what they have read, what their experience is and whether their patients trust them to follow their advice.
Avatar f tn That profiteering off minimum wage workers with no health insurance can go on indefinitely? Most intelligent Republicans understand the lessons of history - that no society so sharply stratified with such an unequal distribution of wealth can last forever. They just think they can buy enough time that they won't see the collapse. Hire a few more rent-a-cops, build a few more for-profit prisons, feed the masses bread and circuses and let them eat cake Marie. Good luck with that.
Avatar m tn ly/fOkG5b Two weeks after taking office, he signed the Children's Health Insurance Re-authorization Act, which increased the number of children covered by health insurance by 4 million. http://bit.ly/fDEzGv He held a quick press conference, and urged Congress to investigate Anthem Blue Cross for raising premiums 39% without explanation. Rep. Waxman responded by launching a probe, and Anthem Blue Cross put the increase on hold for two months. http://yhoo.
931415 tn?1244681111 I’ve written 18 books on health. I know my stuff.” No, Somers does not “know her stuff.” Writing books is no guarantee that she “knows her stuff,” particularly given that she clearly does not understand science and cherry picks references to support her viewpoint, ignoring those that do not. Like Jenny McCarthy (more on her later), Somers also suffers from the arrogance of ignorance (http://photoninthedarkness.com/?
306867 tn?1299253309 And just to through it out there, socializing health care is NOT the answer, I've seen Canadians DIE because the health program is so slow to get thier cancer treatments authorized, and just like our social security, the funds are going to run out sooner or later. Either way, both candidates say they won't raise taxes, but I don't believe either one of them. With this war going on, we are never going to get a balanced budget.
