Avatar f tn If you get denied for medicaid that is considered a qualifying life event to go through the health insurance market place after Feb 15
Avatar n tn Dear kelleymonica, In case of a qualifying event such as death or divorce, Federal COBRA can be extended from the original 18 months to as long as 36 months (18 + 18 = 36 months); however it doesn't seem like you have had a qualifying event (as described by COBRA law). The good news is that after exhausting your COBRA you are HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act) eligible, which means you will qualify for some type of coverage depending on your State of resident.
Avatar f tn You cannot add the bills in December to the new insurance. Give them a call the insurance helped us when we had a gap before our new insurance.
Avatar n tn Pregnancy is not a pre existing condition. If you get married today, for example, you can immediately have your husband call up to add you to his insurance. It's considered a life change event. Additionally, if you chose to go through Obamacare...it would also be considered a lifr change event as your mother has lost her source of employment.
Avatar m tn Hi all! I had a heart attack and was diagnosed with diabetes almost a year ago that turned my life upside down. Since the attack and quadruple bypass surgery I've lost my house, car, and can no longer do the work I've been doing for the last 30years b/c of the physical requirements. I've applied for and been denied Disability and don't know where to turn. My challenge now is being able to the afford my medicine needed every month of about $150.
Avatar n tn m not sure how it is with mass health but I am 19 as well I had to get my own insurance because blue cross blue shild wouldn't have me on my dad's insurance being pregnant. Sooo I would really talk directly to the insurance company to make sure you don't want to do something that's not under the insurance and then have to pay alot.
Avatar f tn I am awaiting official test results from my doctor. I currently have an individual health insurance plan. I was wondering if my insurance company can drop me? Thanks in advance for any info regarding insurance and herpes.
Avatar f tn I can only remember one person who said they were able to get life insurance, it was a few years after SVR I believe and they did a LOT of work and paid a hefty premium. I wish I could remember who it was but someone of the oldies might (Candoman you dont forget anything?). I think when it comes to pre-existing and life insurance we are still in the same boat. Like Pooh said you know they are going to err on the side of caution and since we always will carry the antibodies.........
408795 tn?1324935675 Has anyone here with HepC been able to buy life insurance? I know years ago this question was brought up on this forum and nobody seemed to be able to buy coverage, is that still the case? My wife wants to get life insurance but I told her I can't. She's not HepC positive and I am still HepC positive but even if I was SVR I wouldn't be able to buy life insurance, at least that's what I believe, am I right?
335728 tn?1331414412 A few years back I applied for Life Insurance. I was turned down due to having a pre-existing condition, "inactive" MS although that isn't the way they saw it! ha ha Just wondering if anyone here has been deemed ineligible for Life Insurance due to the diagnosis of MS even though MS has been deemed as non-life threatening?
359574 tn?1328360424 No raise in pay grade, but the season is likely to be nearly 11 months long, guaranteed over 6, thereby qualifying me for (drum roll) federal employee health insurance. I get to start on my 34th wedding anniversary, January 5. Definitely something I've been praying for. I don't need anything else for Christmas or the anniversary. Or valentine's day, or my next birthday. Just got back from a four-day weekend visiting our kids and some of the friends we left when we moved.
Avatar f tn a person in indiana is hep c positive. needs treatment, but has no insurance till december when she is passed her probationary period at work. where can she go for help and treatment? Can the famil doctor prescribe treatment, or must she she a hepatologist?
1502945 tn?1289422077 The only one who can answer your question is your SSI caseworker. I agree that $89 a month is a ridiculous amount, and it makes one wonder why they even bother. You should be receiving full medical coverage for your disability, though, and that should be some comfort. Also, if you qualify for SSI, then your son might qualify for medicaid, through Adult and Family Services. It wouldn't hurt to check it out. I feel your pain. I have end stage renal disease, and stage 4 heart failure.
Avatar n tn If you search on line under health insurance there are policies you can get. Check with your state insurance department. Some states like NY have a non preexisting law which means you MUST be covered without a waiting period. The only way a new insurance cannot cover you is of you did not have coverage for 61 days. Contact your last job. By FEDERAL LAW they MUST offer you COBRA insurance. You musty pay for it but they have to offer it to you fro 18 months.
280299 tn?1216855676 Can a "Life" insurance and NOT a "health" insurance get information from a person's doctor? I thought this was not possible for doctors to give out medical histories of the patients especially not without notifyfing the patient before they give out the info. I heard before that a husband or wife cannot even get information from doctors about their spouses health/illness but the Life Insurance companies can?
Avatar f tn You are way past the enrollment period to get gov. Subsidized health insurance - insurance that you would have received a tax break on and the type that is heavily regulated in what they can and cannot do. Because you had access to health insurance and chose to remain uninsured you may not be able to get an insurance company to cover any of your prenatal care, because it is a preexisting condition.
Avatar f tn Depending on what you consider affordable, privately purchased health insurance is available to qualifying applicants. Qualification is determined through the process of underwriting in which your current state of health will be decisive for the approval of your application. To most traditional health insurance carriers being tested, treated, examined, consulted with, received advice on or had symptoms of a condition could be construed as Pre-existing Condition.
Avatar f tn If you are pregnant, that is considered a life changing event and you can enroll under ACA (obamacare). also under ACA all insurance is required to cover pregnancy/maternity even if you are already pregnant when you enroll, if they refuse - contact your state insurance commissioners office or your congressman.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I need some suggestion on an affordable health insurance that doesn't look at pre existing conditions. I've had svt for 20 yrs now and would like to get an ablation. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank u.
228463 tn?1216761521 You need to meet the income requirememts but if you do, all health care is free. Each state has their own Medicaid qualifying rules. Also, some states like Pennsylvania, offer insurance to all children at free or low cost, and have similar programs for adults. The member needs to call the state senator and ask what health insurance programs are available that are state sponsored.
Avatar m tn also to some of the older fellow members how did you manage to get life insurance and a mortgage if that is part of the process of buying a home?
Avatar f tn Medical cost in the US have run amok. Hospitals charge 5 dollars for one common aspirin. Health insurance premiums for in individual can run as high as $800 (US) per month for access to good doctors and drugs. My employer here in the state of Massachusetts offers health insurance as part of the benefits package. They pick up 75% while I pick up the remaining 25%. My share costs me $65 (US) per week. That's $1126 per month to insure my wife and me. Family policies are even more.
Avatar f tn I attended an event with a NMSS rep from our local area. I 'heard' that there is assistance available for things related to MS. Time passed. Summer heat came on. After several summer seasons of the heat affecting my life, we saved up for a room AC unit to put in the bedroom. This was in addition to our home central AC. The home AC just could not keep up with the summer heat and I was miserable. This summer we were finally able to get the unit purchased this spring...
