Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I need some suggestion on an affordable health insurance that doesn't look at pre existing conditions. I've had svt for 20 yrs now and would like to get an ablation. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank u.
Avatar f tn A health insurance company can still refuse to pay for a pre-existing condition, but only for 12 months. Late enrollees in group health plans may have to wait up to 18 months for coverage of preexisting conditions. Credit for time served: If you've been continuously covered under another plan, your new health plan must give you credit for time served.
1365830 tn?1277997291 So my husband and I found out we were pregnant last week we weren't really stressed about finances because we have insurance but we've been finding out now basically how crappy there maturnity coverage is and now we have an ultra sound next week and more bloodwork. Are there any insurance companies that cover pre-existing conditions or some kind of program that helps with th costs? I'm getting so stressed I don't want to eat cup of noodles the rest o my pregnancy!
Avatar f tn Dear dkcrn, If you are concerned about pre-existing conditions, contact your former employer & ask them to enroll you in COBRA retroactive to 2/12, as soon as possible. Keep in mind if you do that you would have to pay for COBRA retroactive to 2/12. Your employer is responsible to inform your insurance carrier about your COBRA eligibility. Meanwhile visit www.ehealthinsurance.
Avatar m tn Providing International coverage without any health questions or exclusions on pre-existing conditions would be extremely difficult because the carrier would have no way of assessing their risk & determine the premium rate for the plan.
Avatar n tn I work as an insurance biller and we still receive denials for pre existing conditionins. They just have to offer a plan (usually more expensive) that covers pre existing, but if that's not the plan you have then it doesn't help you much.
Avatar f tn Ok so now that my life ***** and I have have MS if I am ever lucky enough to find another job will I not be able to hve insurance ever again because I now have a pre-existing condition? I'm sorry if I sound bitter. It's been a really crappy day!
3221216 tn?1373640059 Temporary help for people with pre-existing conditions. To tide people with health problems over until 2014, the law created temporary Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plans in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia. Thanks to federal subsidies, people who have been denied coverage or quoted outrageous premiums because of their health history can buy these comprehensive health plans for about the same price as a healthy person their age would pay for a private plan.
Avatar f tn I believe all medical claims have to be covered by the insurer if the problem is not a pre-existing one, there are list of what types of health problems are considered "pre-existing" many aliments do not classifiy as preexixting such as allergies. I have been doing a lot of research on health insurane lately, since I am switching from a student (group) health insurance plan to a private (group) plan.
Avatar n tn I have done a lot of research in the past couple of days and from what I can tell, you can't get denied group health insurance due to a pre existing condition. The carrier can make you go through an exclusionary period, but can't deny you. Is that as a result of the HIPPA law passed in 1996? I have a friend who told me that pre exisiting condition denial is rampant in group policies. Wouldn't that be illegal or are the companies findings ways around it?
Avatar n tn I believe qualifying for group insurance, depeding on the company you work for, does not usually require you to have to disclose pre-existing conditions, whereas individual insurance will. I could be wrong about that. I know that when I've applied for insurance through my work, they don't ask those questions and when I was added on to my husband's plan, they never asked about pre-existing conditions. Good luck getting insurance!
1328367 tn?1308307743 Pre-existing Condition Any illness or health condition for which you have received medical advice or treatment during the six months prior to obtaining health insurance. Group healthcare policies cover pre-existing conditions after you have been insured for six months, and individual policies cover pre-existing conditions after you have been insured for one year. Creditable coverage must be counted towards any pre-existing condition exclusion in either an individual or group policy.

1530342 tn?1405016490 lite Jerry Fielder, 64, of Universal City, Texas, is a cancer patient whose family was turned down by 16 different insurance companies because of pre-existing conditions before accessing coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Jerry Fielder and Beth Ann Levendoski breathed separate sighs of relief Thursday -- one in Texas, the other in California -- on the news that the U.S.
Avatar n tn Dear boater08, It is true that you have to requalify to switch back to medigap in future but the preexisting condition waiting period can only be imposed for a maximum of 6 months. So the possible risks can be something as simple of a 6 months waiting period on your pre-exisitng conditions (including your current conditions and anything that could develop between now & then), or as worst as not qualifying back for a medigap plan.
1217235 tn?1266678257 Pre-existing Conditions and Portability Regarding New Jersey Health Insurance Coverage Pre-existing Conditions and Portability Except as stated below for federally defined eligible individuals, if you have been uninsured for more than 31 days prior to the enrollment date (which means the effective date of coverage under the individual plan), you are subject to a 12-month waiting period for coverage of "pre-existing conditions.
290867 tn?1333569278 You can also purchase policies through outside insurance carriers. In Massachusetts it just went into effect that every resident HAS to have health insurance or you lose your tax exemption. Fortunately I have very good insurance at my job as does my husband but if we didn't, we would have to go the other route. I have seen some companies adverstising as little as 150 a month to get a tailor made policy to suit your needs. I would search the internet and look into it to see what you can find.
7052683 tn?1392938795 PetPlan does not cover pre-existing conditions either. I have the Platinum Plan which you pay first $75. and everything else is 100% on new diagnoses. Most Vets are great and will work with you on how things are billed out to make sure you get it covered. Mine does not include normal check-ups---which is no problem, since my cat has been in for so many other things we always know where she stands health wise.
1967803 tn?1325679473 I don't know much about the US system in terms of the new insurance laws, pre-existing conditions clauses, etc but just wanted to suggest: can you apply for compassionate aid from the drug companies directly (I would try simultaneoulsly going after all three of the interferons and Copaxone....they have similar outcomes and in case one or more turn you down you're not waiting again fo apply for another one).
Avatar f tn This is driving me crazy and I guess worst case I can always go back to my last job so I can be covered. But its so stressful to work that much! Why are insurance companies so fishy with pre-existing conditions? I really dont understand. If two companys already denied me how am I suppose to get insurance?
Avatar n tn Hello everyone, I have not visited this sight in 2 years and it so good to see it's new design. I was involved with this sight throughout my Geno 4 Hep C battle and am very pleased that 2 years after my tx that I am clear of the virus. It was a difficult tx but I got through it with the results I only dreamed of! Those of you battling through it have my best wishes and hopes for the best outcomes possible for you.
15480 tn?1302529802 I agree with ginak and 9DodgeFan. But on the safe side.... I would consider asking your physician. I mean "EBV" really isn't a diagnosis and the majority of the population does test positive for EBV (IgG -- past infection). I think though that if you immediately purchase health insurance privately and not let your insurance lapse, that by law... pre-existing conditions don't count. You may want to double check that though with your employer's H.R. dept. Good luck !!!
274858 tn?1267749912 Have you had coverage for the last 12 months? If so, under HIPAA, waiting periods for pre-existing conditions are waived. Hope that's the case for you.
